Spirit Wars

What can I say about Spirit Wars? It is the best multiplayer game that I know off. You play against a live opponent in real time across the internet. Played on a game board of hexagonal tiles like some of the great board games, it transcends board games in its flexibility and scope. Every game is different, every board is different. Imagine playing Monopoly, or Risk, or whatever your favorite board game is if the board and the pieces you had to play with changed in every game.

There is more to this game than just the game itself. The entire site is energized and infused with a sense of caring and fairness you seldom, if ever, find on an online game site. The people are friendly and the ambience is refreshing. The are some serious rules about conduct on this site, bad language is strictly forbidden and the rules are enforced. It is a most refreshing change, let me tell you that. Almost everyone is willing to offer advice and help. In addition, Randy Chase, the creator of Spirit Wars is always popping in just to see how everyone is doing and just to say hi. Randy is a big sports fan so don't expect to see him during the ball games, he will be too busy rooting his teams to victory. You will have to ask him which teams they are, I am not into sports myself.

Also, if you drop in on Saturday nights at 9 P.M. eastern time, (6 P.M. pacific) you will find me hosting the tournament in the tournament room,(of course). Come early and get in some practice, I always do. I am badger there, or TM_Badger if I am wearing my tourney master shirt.

Sunday nights are league nights, my team, Spirit Warriors Redux is a good team with a decent record, especially for an expansion team. Be sure to sign up for league and join us every Sunday night at 8 pm eastern time.

Speaking of shirts, anyone with a name that appears in green is a helper and will be more than happy to help out in anyway. This isn't a site that leaves you up in the air. Read the tutorials and get in there and play. Don't be afraid to ask questions, and do be prepared to have a lot of fun!

Be warned! This is not a browser based game, it would be terribly slow if it were. There is a large download, it took a little over an hour for me the first time I did it on a dial up modem. On the cable modem it took a little less than 5 minutes. Take my word for it, it is worth the effort. The art is stunning, Randy has an art cd available with large versions of all the classic art and it is worth taking a look at,every card is represented by a classic painting or portrait.
