My First Freedom Dream

My First Freedom Dream

In my dream I was 12 years old.
I was all alone in the darkness.
All around me were mountains circling
the dark emptiness. It was not hot or cold.
There was no wind and there was no sound.
As I readied myself to jump, a large dark wing erupted
from the abyss. As the wing came closer, I could see
it was a large black horse. He was beautiful.
In the back of his head was a spear, stuck through
and the arrow pointed ahead of him.
He flew close to me and invited me to get on his back.
I asked him his name and he said he couldn't tell me.
We soared through the heavens, and it was so peaceful.
For the first time in my life, I felt real joy.

We visited other worlds.
As we descended to another world,
the lights glowed unceasingly, sparkling
a warm invitation.
The people in this world all loved each other
unconditionally and they all loved me.
The joy and cosmic energy flowed through me
and I felt so divine and peaceful.
The horse then told me it was time to go.
I could still feel their love as we ascended
into the heavens again.

He took me to another world.
I got off his back and walked toward a creek.
Ahead of me was my mother, smiling at me.
She looked really happy.
She had a sweater on and she hugged me.
She told me I was her beautiful daughter.
A daughter. That's what I am, a daughter!
We hugged and she loved me unconditionally.
She told me very soon I would hold the keys
to the other worlds.
We hugged and cried as she told me
it was time for me to go.
She said we would see each other again.
I kept looking down at her
as the horse flew higher and higher,
hot tears stinging my cheeks.

As the horse came to rest on the cliff,
he told me many things.
He said he was sent to watch over me and guide me.
He said when times are difficult to just remember him
because he would always be there to help me.
He told me his name was Valor because he
possessed the courage, bravery and daring spirit,
which lived in me.
He then flew off into the darkness.
But, I know he is really inside me.
I can feel him...
there...
