Church of God -- * -- What We Believe

THE LOCAL CHURCH We believe the local church is GOD'S divinely appointed institution on the earth appointed to preach, promote, and publish the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ until He returns. We believe the local church is autonomous and independent in its government and polity. We choose to be associated with the Church of God Reformation Movement with offices in Anderson, Indiana. We believe the local church is responsible for the people of the world We believe the local church is to be supported by its membership with the Lords tithes and our freewill offerings. You are invited to join us as we continue to empower and enable the Kingdom of God We believe membership is acquired by salvation maintained by association and expressed by cooperation. We encourage each family to become involved and express their gifts through active involvement in the ministries of the fellowship.

THE KINGDOM OF GOD We believe the Kingdom of God is now ruling and reigning in the hearts and lives of His people. All the saved are in his kingdom, hearts and lives of his people. All the saved are in his kingdom, and are by their new birth, a member of the Church of God. We believe that kingdom life offers the most wonderful, prosperous fulfilling life on the earth and is just a taste of what Heaven is going to be like throughout the eternal ages in Glory.

THE SCRIPTURES The Bible is the inspired, inerrant, infallible Word of God, the product of holy men of old who spoke and wrote as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. It is our rule of faith and church government. We accept it as our infallible guide in matters pertaining to conduct and doctrine (I Thessalonians 2:13, II Timothy 3:16, II Peter 1:21).

The GODHEAD Our God is one, but is manifest in three persons-the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit -- being coequal (I John 5:7). God the Father is greater than all, Source of the Word (Logos) and the Begetter (John 1:14, 14:28; 16:28). The Holy Spirit proceeds forth from both the Father and the Son and is eternal (John 15:26).

MAN - HIS FALL AND REDEMPTION Man is created being, made in the likeness and the image of God, but through Adam's transgressions and fall sin came into the world. "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:10). Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was manifested to undo the work of the devil, and to give His life and shed His blood to redeem and restore man back to God (1 John 3:8). Salvation is the gift of God to man, separate from works and the law, and is mad operative by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, producing works acceptable to God (Ephesians 2:8).

ETERNAL LIFE AND NEW BIRTH Man's first step toward salvation is godly sorrow which worketh repentance. The new birth is necessary to all men, and when fulfilled, produces eternal life (John 3:3-5; II Corinthians 7:10; I John 5:12).

WATER BAPTISM Baptism by immersion is a direct commandment of our Lord and is for believers only. The ordinance is a symbol of the Christian's identification

SANCTIFICATION The Bible teaches without Holiness no man can see the Lord. We believe in the Doctrine of Sanctification as second, definite, yet progressive work of God's grace, provided for the believer by the Holy Spirit, through faith in the complete work of Jesus Christ on the cross. It is evidenced by a life of surrender and the fruit of the Spirit.

THE GIFTS AND THEIR OPERATION IN THE CHURCH We believe the gift and the people of the Spirit are placed in the body of Christ as it pleases the Lord. (I Corinthians 12:4-31). We believe the Lord gives gifts to all believers, and we wish for you to use those gifts. We endeavor to teach, train, and equip you to use the gift(s) God has bestowed upon you. However, the practice of speaking in the public worship services will be led and directed by the pastor / platform personnel. They will release an appropriate meeting (i.e. the Pastor, if present). In this manner we will be faithful to God's admonition to move in harmony and order while at the same time being very careful not to quench the Holy Spirit nor hamper His moving.
