Mr. Shum Yew Chong is our school Parents And Teachers Association's President. He is very warm-hearted person, he always encourage us to treasure opportunity to learn the new technology.
| Stduents: | What is the purpose of having the Parents And Teachers Association (PTAs)? |
| Mr.
Shum: |
Well, the purpose of having PTAs
is to have
a connection between parents and teachers. The members of the
PTAs will co-operate and
organize various types of activities to let teacher become more resourceful
or organize fund raising to collect money for develop the school building.

| Stduents: | What's your opinion about smart schools? |
| Mr. Shum: | A smart school should be equipped with hi-tech equipment
such as notebooks, personal computers, a complete network and linking system, educating
programs, internet access, servers and so on. |
| Stduents: | What activities does the PTAs organize to help ordinary schools to become smart schools? |
| Mr. Shum: | The PTAs can organize many activities like fund raising
activities to collect a big amount of money to improve the
facilities of school. From year 1945, there are many warm-hearted people from various type of society donate money and contribute their strength to develop our school. |
| Stduents: | Is it true that every teacher is a member of the PTAs? |
| Mr. Shum: | Yes, every teacher is a member of the PTAs. |
| Stduents: | What role are the teachers and parents playing in the PTAs community? |
| Mr. Shum: | Well, the PTAs will choose eight teachers and parents to become
the committee member of the PTAs among the rest of the members. The others will just be
ordinary members. The teachers will think of a way to improve the the performance of
students. |
| Stduents: | Is it true that every school has its own PTAs? |
| Mr. Shum: | Yes, because the government had already made a law so that
every school must have a PTAs. |
| Stduents: | Why are you so eager to join the PTAs? |
| Mr. Shum: | I think
that I have the responsibilities to help the school to become better
and better. |
| Stduents: | What is the plan does the PTAs have for our school? |
| Mr. Shum: | We are planning to build a new building of classes because
the quantity of students are increasing. |
| Stduents: | How does a smart school look like in your imagination? |
| Mr. Shum: | The smart school that I have in mind is very hi-tech and
luxurious. Students can study at home, teacher and students make contact by using a
software similar to Microsoft Net meeting. With that kind of network available, students can
now overcome the problem of heavy schoolbags. Students can study in the happy environment but not in pressure. |
| Stduents: | According to your opinion, when will our schools achieve our our goal? |
| Mr. Shum: | We started the smart school plan since year 1997, and we
should achive our goal by year 2005. |
| Stduents: | Are there any other communities that give us help? |
| Mr. Shum: | Yes, the MCA, MIMOS and other communities and companies
also gave us financial help. |
