Mr. Tan Men Choon is our PTA vice president, he is the kind of person that always smiling, we feel very comfortable when interview him. He encourage us to do our best and do not so attach on the result.

| Students: | What is the purpose of having the Parents And Teachers Association (PTAs)? |
| Mr. Tan: |
The purpose of having the PTAs is to have a
bridge between all the teachers of the school and the parents of the students to
communicate with each other. Actually PTAs are organize by two small group, one is Parents
group and one is Teacher group. I am one of the
parents representatives. My son and daughter are study at this school. I feel that I feel
that I have the responsibilities to help all the parents to communicate with teachers.
This can help the school run smoothly, students can learn in better environment. |
| Students: | What's your opinion about smart schools? |
| Mr. Tan: | The Smart School project is very suitable for our country
because now is the Information and technology age, we need our later genaration can
indepedent in learning and become smarter. My opinion for smart school is before the
school want to become the smart school, we must do the preparation first. All the
stakeholders, school, headmaster, teacher, students and community should be coorporate
together. I really hope that this project can be successfully held, every school in
Malaysia will become Smart School. This is a very big
project, because government want all the school become Smart School, PTAs will be give the
full support and action to help this project to success. |
| Students: | What activities does the PTAs organize to help ordinary schools to become smart schools? |
| Mr. Tan: | The PTAs provide full financial support to help ChoongWen
become smart school. We had organize many activities to raise money to buy 100
computers and other type of facilities
such as Internet access, projector, . Our aim is to let all the
students to have the opportunity to learn how to use computer. Beside that, we also have the teacher computer training course in order to help
our teacher to get well in the technology and help all the things done easily.
We also encourage and give a full support for our
students to participate the CyberFair, our aim to let the students to learn to use the new
technology and know more about their community. |
| Students: | Is it true that every teacher is a member of the PTAs? |
| Mr. Tan: | Yes, every teacher is a member of the PTAs. But the 8 committee members are selected among 2000 parents and 60 teachers. |
| Students: | What are the role of teachers and parents playing in the PTAs community? |
| Mr. Tan: | The committee members will always discuss the school
activities, students results, school administration events and others. We will found out
the solution for the problems, and PTAs will give some allowance for teacher. |
| Students: | Is it true that every school has its own PTAs? |
| Mr. Tan: | Yes, because the government had already made a law so that
every school must have a PTAs. |
| Students: | Why are you so enthusiastic to join the PTAs? |
| Mr. Tan: | Since I am one of the member is selected by other parents, I
feel that I should do my best to improve the school and this is my aspiration. |
| Students: | What is the future plan does the PTAs have for our school? |
| Mr. Tan: | We are planning to build a new building of classes in this
year because the quantity of students are increasing. We also will continue to promote and
cooperate with school to improve students acedemic result. |
| Students: | How does a smart school look like in your imagination? |
| Mr. Tan: | Actually I am not very know about
the smart school and how it operate, but in my mind, the syllabus using in smart school is
very simple to understand, funning teaching materials which can arouse students learning
mood. Students will learn themselves and no need to ask by others to learn. Besides,
students no need go to school and they can learn at their home as well. Or every students
have own e-book which instead of using the text book. The school system is all in computerized Teachers will use the high technology, like computer, projector, internet for teaching, so the students can learn in very fast. Beside, students can study at home by using computer which is connected to school, so they no need go to school and bring the heavy school beg. กก |
| Students: | According to your opinion, when will our schools achieve our our goal? |
| Mr. Tan: | We started the smart school plan since year 1997, and we
should achieve our goal by year 2005. |
| Students: | Are there any other communities that give us help? |
| Mr. Tan: | Yes, the MCA, MIMOS and other communities and companies
also gave us financial help. |
