Grand Manan is only accessible by ferry service from Black's Harbour, New Brunswick. During the 90 minute crossing you will leave the "mainland" as Grand Mananer's say, and sail approx. 22 miles (35 kilometres) to the Island. As you approach Grand Manan Island you will start to experience a feeling of peace and tranquility - which is what attracts visitors. Keep a watchful eye open during the crossing as it is quite normal to see marine life, birds and whales during the ferry crossing.

Visitors from the United States may enjoy the scenic drive up the coast of Maine on Route 1, or may go directly along Route 95 to Bangor, then taking Route 9 to Calais. Crossing the border from Calais, Maine, to St. Stephen, New Brunswick, you continue on Route 1, east towards St. George and Saint John (40 kilometres or 25 miles). About 6.5 kilomtres (4 miles) past St. George, a well marked right turn shows the route (Exit 60) to Blacks Harbour and the Grand Manan Ferry Terminal, about an eight kilometre or five mile drive.
