Fall Clean-Up Completed At the Eastland Alleyway
October 26, 2002
Another successful clean-up that went the length of one of the longest alleys in the neighborhood. This
alley runs along the border of RWNA and Calle Jabali homeowners’ association. We want to thank every one who participated
and especially Charles Erwin from NETeams for the slip on for the brush and garbage, Loren for running the front end loader
and everyone one else that brought hand tools and gloves and gave a helping hand. We had a perfect day for cleaning up and
Loren opened his house for hot dogs and sodas after the work was done. We hope to get more people out to these events
because it lightens the load for all of us.
Dog Owners, HELP!
Recent confrontations with loose neighborhood dogs necessitate this plea. A short time ago, there was a
group of people present in Hoffman park including senior citizens and families with young children playing or observing on
and around the playground. One elderly couple was walking two small dogs, on leashes, along the dirt path. There were also 2
large dogs loose in the park. Without provocation, one of the large dogs, without tags, charged and attacked one of the
leashed small dogs. One man tried to kick the large dog off the small dog. The large dog then dropped the small dog and ran
away. Animal Control and police were called. The owner was identified and cited. The small dog was so badly injured that it
did not survive. Recently, a woman was walking her dog near Eastland and Janet. They were accosted by another dog, that had
escaped his fenced-in yard, which threatened to attack the woman. However, an alert motorist drove his car between the woman
and the attacking dog. Another time this same dog accosted a woman walking a baby in a stroller. This dog is aggressive and
does not back down.
These are but a couple of reported loose dog incidents. Dog owners, PLEASE check your fenced-in yards for
containment, either through or over fences and gates. This is a serious problem.

President’s Notes
We now own the web address: www.rwna.org and it will redirect people to our current site. We had two Picnics in the Park and
two clean-up sessions. We had a great response to the questionnaire and we have a new survey that asks for more details than
the last questionnaire. Membership is up. The logo design has been finalized and Lorraine has had t-shirts made with the
logo on it. If you come to the General Meeting we will be selling the t-shirts for $10. We have charter addition for the
General Meeting and the Board will have passed additional bylaw changes. Gates at the Swanway Plaza were completed. The
credit for much of this has to go to the hard work of the board members of RWNA. Thank You all!
