Links PageFUTURE PEACE has parted ways. Fire went to former Canada to do some trout fishing. Union and Epic went with Polo and Ezel to Fiji for some sun. Tempo, Utopia and Rhythm went to the Brazilian Rain forests to visit ancient monuments. Equinox went to India to climb some peaks there. Crystal and Anoki, who did not feel as adventurous as the others decided to go visit their former island home in the Philippines after a year and a half away.
They are taken to the island, now being used as a research outpost as it was originally intended. The habitat house looks different, the growth immediately around it was all cut away and the rice patties and garden are gone. When they go into the center courtyard they find that ornamental flowers have replaced the herbs and botanicals that Mrs. Key had grown there. The wildlife that the place had is replaced by artificial spectacle, though pretty.
Anoki and Crystal walk along the worn path to the memorial of Willamina. It has been unnoticed and overgrown with weeds. Crystal immediately pulls out the weeds and casts them aside and brushes the dirt off the top of the marker.
Crystal- It should not have been allowed to get like this... Those scientists ignore what we had done here.
Anoki- We don't live here anymore.... My falcon is out their somewhere in the cliffs.... This place is different.
Crystal- It is like they desecrated it.... They let the gardens die and took out all the herbs ad botanical plants that Gloria Key and all of us worked hard on. Everyone forgot about Willamina, she was one of us, (she touches the memorial) She was one of US!
Anoki- I am sure the scientists are busy with many other things that gardening and landscaping don't factor into their schedule.
Crystal- No, they just don't care.... This place is our home, not those apartments in Paris.
Anoki- I feel like this was my home too, but it isn't any longer...
Crystal- Then where?.... We left the NAE.... We have nothing.... No money of out own, no home, nothing.... No matter what we think, they own us.
Anoki- We rule our lives.
Crystal- We were created by the NAE to serve the NAE and the world. They made us, raised us, our entire lives have been focused on pleasing them and we left.
Anoki- You agreed that we should leave.... You had your vote... Remember?
Crystal- Yes, I have been the most inflamed one with how the NAE works, how corrupted some of the organization is.... But we can't be gone too long, we are needed and we need the Nations Allegiance.... I guess that no matter how angry I get sometimes with the NAE, with it's pushy generals and kissing up to dignitaries, I still want to be apart of it because I know that the idea of it was honest, even if the current leaders aren't. I know we can do a lot of good and the NAE will support and help us all the way. But I don't think I have the right to stop the others from doing what they want with their lives. If they don't want to serve the cause, no one should try to force them. All I wanted was to know about things and be allowed to make my own decisions.
Anoki- Remember that we were their pawns. They could tell us things, but instead they tried to hide things from us.
Crystal- Yes, yes, I know....and I don?t know what to do.
Anoki- Do nothing, just do nothing like everyone else!
Crystal- I don't think I can, or should.
Anoki- Aren't you angry with the NAE?
Crystal- Not really.... I'm disappointed. I feel helpless and confused. My parent turned against me.
THE NEXT DAY: Crystal sits out on the beach, staring into the ocean as the subtle waves come in. She has been in the sun so long that her exposed skin is beginning to burn and she is flushing. She begins to talk to herself.
Crystal- Why am I here? I don't belong here anymore.... I'm not sure where in the world I belong..... I'd like to attend college and have a career I guess.... Maybe get married and have a child someday....
A sea bird flies over head, calling out to another of its kind. She looks up at the birds a moment.
Crystal- I want a place of my own, somewhere I .....(bird calls)..belong.
She continues to stare and begins to toss pebbles into the water. She thinks about her future ad then she feels a little wet palm on her shoulder. She turns and sees Willamina dressed in a pale purple linen sundress with ribbons and bows adorning it. Her swarthy skin glows in the sunlight and her soft dark hair moves in the light breeze. She is still as old as when she died, only three, but her spirit as old as Crystal.
Willamina- Why are you so confused?
Crystal- I don't know who, or what I am... Where I belong.
Willamina- You know... You need to rejoin the Nations Alliance of Earth. You and the others belong there... You have to unite the world in peace.... without you everything will tear apart again.... Do you really want chaos?
Crystal- No, of course not... Who would?
Willamina- Some, some are so evil...but you have the strength to stop them inside you.
Crystal- But it isn't what the other want.
Willamina- They need you leadership, they need you to lead them back to the NAE.
Crystal- I'm not a leader!
Willamina- You can be, you have to be. You can help so many.
Crystal- I couldn't help you.... You should stand with us. You are our sister.
Willamina- I sent someone in my place, she will help you when the time comes and she is needed.
Crystal- She, who is she?
Willamina- You know who she is.
Crystal- No, no I don't who?
Willamina- You have to lead them back.... Somehow you have to lead them back!
Willamina disappears and Crystal is left to think about the ghost's words. Minutes later Anoki finds Crystal and touches her, she jumps. He sits beside her.
Anoki- Sorry... You should come inside, you are toasting out here.
Crystal- I can't this moment, I need to think.
Anoki- You can think inside while I put some Aloe on you.
Crystal- I'll be fine.
Anoki- No, you are all red. You aren't wearing any sunblock and you are going to have a severe burn. Now come inside.
Crystal- Please, just leave me alone.
Anoki gets pissed with her and grabs her up in his arms and carries her back to the facility.
Crystal- I could hurt you.
Anoki- Go right on and do it... I don't want you to get skin cancer ad die.
Crystal- It's treatable.
Anoki- And preventable as well.
Anoki carries her all the way back to his bed and sets her down and retrieves a bottle of Aloe from his suitcase. He begins to rub the lotion into her skin on her shoulders where se is the most burned.
Anoki- You look like a strawberry.
Crystal- Then I must be juicy.
Anoki- Just really red...Doesn't it hurt?
Crystal- Nope... I feel nothing.
Anoki- Lair... It must hurt a lot and it will hurt more tomorrow.
Crystal- I spoke to Willamina, out on the beach...
Anoki remains silent, putting Aloe on her back. She continues to talk.
Crystal- We have to go back to the NAE... She told me that without us the world will rip apart... We cannot allow the world to go into chaos.
Anoki- I think it is already there.... You must have had a delusion because of all the sun.
Crystal-You know it wasn't the sun... You can sense my thoughts... You know I saw her...
Anoki- You were in the sun too long. You should rest.
Crystal- Damn it Anoki! I saw her, I spoke to her.... We used to see her all the time as children, her and the Aborigine man. You remember.
Anoki- We were children then, we wanted to believe Willamina was still alive in some way.
Crystal- And the Aborigine man? Did we dream him too? For the longest time we didn't understand a word from his mouth then you began to understand his language, soon I did too, through you... We both saw him.
Anoki- And why did we never tell anyone else about seeing him or Willamina?
Crystal- Because the Guardians would think we were crazy, but we did see them.
Anoki- I don't know. Maybe I saw what you wanted me to, what you wanted to see.
Crystal- Did I know the Aborigine language?... You think I made you see the ghosts..... You saw the Aborigine man first and took me to meet him.
Anoki- You saw Willamina just after she died and you made me see her, I didn't want to. I didn't want to see ghosts or spirits.... It is hard to deal with a death when you see the spirit come back and talk to you like nothing happened.
Crystal- She wanted to help us deal with her death.
Anoki- You still think she is alive!
Crystal begins to become emotionally charged and cry.
Crystal- (tearing) No! No matter how hard I try I can't imagine her back to life.... But her spirit is with us.... She is always with us.
Anoki- Exactly, she is always with us.... She died in Switzerland and followed us to this island and she followed us to Paris as well.... I can't get away from her because we carry her inside us....
Anoki also begins to cry.
Anoki- I want to be with the living and I want you there with me.
Crystal- What?
Anoki- I love you, but your obsession with death scares me sometimes.
Crystal reached up to him, their telepathic minds lock and the feverishly exchange thoughts and feelings with each other.
Crystal- I love you.
They kiss and hug each other
LATER: Anoki and Crystal sit in the courtyard of the Habitat house and discuss ways of getting the others to rejoin the NAE.
Anoki- Some house seriously needs to be cleaned and then we move back in and redecorate the place, our way.
Crystal teleconferences with the other Peacekeepers and the Guardians. After some deliberation they devise a game plan.
First off, all the named 'traitors' and liars in the NAE are removed from power and replaced by officials who are honest. Then the summit passes legislation to give the Peacekeepers rank in the NAE as compared to their former ambassador status with no real power.
They are all granted the rank of Captain with leverage for future promotions. Another stipulation that the Peacekeepers make is for Chasity (Chase) Key to be recognized as a Peacekeepers and be allowed to have a symbolic role in the NAE until she reaches the age of 16 at which she can choose to gain rank and power as a full Peacekeeper. She may even join the Global Youth Peace Representatives, under which she need only be 15 years old to be elected by her patron country.
Also, the Peacekeepers agree to their 'job' in the forms of 'duty tours' or 'commissions' that would be 4 years each and be taken at their discretion. But of course as long as they are happy they will be in the NAE until they die.
The Peacekeepers return to their apartments in Paris and are welcomed back by the summit. The Youth Reps. are happy to have their leaders back.
Chase Key has acouple pink 'PEACE' style uniforms made for her, with pink leather boots and everything. She is inducted into the NAE and GYPR summits and allowed to sit in on meetings occasionally, as permitted by her schooling and parents discretion. Chase really enjoys spending the extra time with her siblings. Chase fills the void left by Willamina as the twelfth Peacekeeper.
