Tempo of FUTURE is the somewhat reserved but tempered psychic.
Often Tempo's premonitions are of minor things like a crucial answer to a test
or who is about to enter a door, but shortly after her eighteenth birthday her impressions
began to be of more important things and farther into the future. After second
contact with SCAR her visions began to haunt her even though the dates of
events to come were uncertain.
[Tempo wakes up in a cold sweat and panting heavy with fear.
She throws off her covers and exits her room to find a book to read in the
study. This has been the fifth night in a row that a dream of Aeon attacking
Fire and Epic in a large warehouse has waken her. Tempo reads a book of old
tales until her mind drifts and the same vision comes to her again. This time
she sees Aeon hurt Epic severely. Fire reacts and inflicts harm to Aeon but, is
whipped by a telekinetic lash that sends him smashing against a pile of boxes.]
(Tempo jumps awake and begins to read again, trying to shake
off the dreams.)
Tempo‑
(whisper to self)Must be SCAR... These dreams cannot
be true!
[The next day Tempo
is still sleeping in a chair in the study with the book on her lap when a
custodian comes in to vacuum and wakes her. She gets up and goes to shower and
get dressed for the day but remains sleepy when she returns to the library to
continue reading. Fire, Epic and Polo come in and ask her if she would like to
go with them for a walk through the city. Tempo agrees to go.
As the four of them walk off the campus grounds and through
the streets of Paris Tempo becomes more and more anxious. Polo offers to walk
back to the campus with her, while Fire and Epic finish their walk. Just as
Tempo is about to reply she drops asleep and soon awakes to find that she is in
a cab with Polo going back to the campus. Tempo has a quick flash of her dreams
and realizes that they were occurring today, in several minutes time.]
Tempo‑ No!!
Stop the Car!! We must find Fire and Epic !! Aeon is
going to hurt them!! (Looking Polo in his eyes) Polo we have to keep them away
from the warehouse!!
Polo‑ What warehouse?? What are you talking about??
Tempo‑
(seeing her vision again. She sees Epic and Fire enter after hearing
shrieks for help from inside.) Driver, take us back to
Polo‑ Are you
sure!?
Tempo‑ In have had visions in my sleep for the past five nights!
Polo‑ Why didn't you tell anyone?
Tempo‑ In
thought it was only a dream, who knew!
[The cab returns to where they were. Polo spots Epic and Fire
ahead about to pass an alley. Tempo throws money over the seat to the driver
and her and Polo jump out as a shriek is heard from the warehouse. Fire and
Epic run inside the warehouse before Polo is able to call to them. The door
slams down behind them. Polo and Tempo run toward the warehouse and slam their
fists on the door and try to find a way to lift it.
Polo‑ In guess your premonition was right.
Tempo‑ We have to get in there to help them before it is too late!
INSIDE: Fire and Epic
run inside the warehouse to aid the person they heard scram and see the massive
door slam down behind them. They quickly realize it was a trap. A low voice
comes out of the darkness.
Aeon‑ (shrill)Help me! Help Me! (loud laugh) You
so easily take bait! For such stupidity In shall make
you my lab rats.
Epic‑In what
experiment?
Aeon‑ How
much pain can a Peacekeeper endure before dying of the agony.
Fire‑
(murmuring to Epic) Can pain kill?
Epic‑
(shrugs, quiet) In don't know!
Aeon‑ Well
let's find out, Shall we!!!
(Aeon walks out of the shadows and stands on top of a pile of
stacked wood. Booms in a boisterous voice, like talk show host)
Aeon- You see, I have found a new way of using Telekinesis joined with
telepathy to create a little pain concoction! Pain that doesn't come from
injury! I'm really rather proud of myself!
Epic‑ That is unlikely!
Aeon‑ Well,
you sample my wares first then!
(Aeon focus' and Epic drops from
unseen force and begins to wince but holds back his cries. Aeon takes off his
power.)
Fire‑ You are crazy! Ever since
Aeon‑ Your turn! (Rolling the ‘R’ sound. Aeon focus' his power on
Fire and Fire drops to the ground and rolls on his back crying in pain until
Aeon stops.)
OUTSIDE: Tempo and Polo work to open the door. She holds a pole
and tries prying it up under the door to open it. Polo pushes up on the
handles. Tempo looks down at Polo, annoyed)
Tempo‑ Can't
you use your energy surge, beam, whatever to open this door?
Polo‑ It
isn't electrical; this door must be fastened on the other side. Aeon is
probably holding it shut.
(Tempo looks up the side of the building and sees a group of
windows)
Tempo‑ Then
lets get up to one of those windows and break in. After all we have the key to
the city!
INSIDE: Aeon is still tormenting Epic and Fire.
Aeon‑ Have
you had enough yet? Cause if not I do have more!!
Epic‑ ( Whisper to Fire)I think the pain is his.
Fire‑
His?
Epic‑ Aeon's,
I think it is his pain.
Fire‑ Then he
should be hurting not me!
Epic‑Didn't
you feel the raw emotions of fear and confusion when he inflicted the pain?
Fire‑ Yes, mine!
Epic‑ Union, had told me how painful his life was, that was what
overwhelmed her. His pain and his anger!
Fire‑ Now
that's an unusual power!
Aeon‑ Haste,
haste, your chatter is getting on my nerves... In am the one you should be
paying attention to, remember!!?
OUTSIDE: Tempo is on Peacekeeper Link. Standing in front of a
broken window with her back to the alley, Polo is beside her.
Tempo- We are about
to go in. See you when you arrive.
VO Union- We are on our way there.
[Tempo closes the link and puts it into her pocket. Polo has
already climbed in through the broken glass. She climbs inside and they briskly
walk toward the sounds of voices. They come up behind Aeon and see his torture
of Epic and Fire. Tempo grabs a pair of short bars and twirls them, then
throws them like knives at Aeon. He has already sensed their presence and
tosses down the bars and they lodge into the cement floor.
Aeon- Do you come
to join the fun?
Tempo whispers to Polo- Now my vision is
different…. If we each use our powers, we can over throw him.
Polo- Okay
Polo charges up and
sends a beam at Aeon. Aeon is halted, Tempo cries out to Fire.
Tempo- Fire, distort
the energy beam, encircle him in it. Epic you need to levitate him so he cannot
escape.
[They follow the guidelines and Aeon is imprisoned until the
other peacekeepers and NAE soldiers arrive and arrest him.]
Reflection:
NAE psychologists examine
Aeon and are disturbed by the results. Crystal, Epic, Anoki, Union Tempo and
Polo sit outside to hear the results.
Doctor- From what I can tell, Aeon is suffering
from Bi-polar Disorder. Right now he is in the manic phase,
that is why you noticed the personality change.
Union- Can her be
cured?
Doctor- I don’t
know… If he is willing, we can treat him. He is perhaps the worst kind of
person to have this disorder. He is angry and violent in both phases. Most
people are happy in the manic and depressed in the depressive stage.
Mr. Key- that is
why I believe he suffers from Multiple personality disorder. I think he so far
exhibits three distinct personalities. The aggressive,
talkative one, the quiet and violent one and a third that seems to be an abused
child.
Crystal- If it is
different personalities then we must fuse them together before the two dominate
ones take the child.
Mr. Key- If they
haven’t already destroyed the child…. None of you have seen the current
personality before?
All-
No.
Union- Who knows
what is inside of him.
Mr. Key to Union- Stay out of his room, he is
sedated but seeing you may cause him to become violent again…. Just go home.
[The two doctors walk away from the teens. Tempo has an idea
and turns to the others, directing her plea to
Tempo- I think you
can repair his mind. If you, Crystal and Anoki all go into his mind together I
think you can fuse his personalities back into one.
Polo-
That would be dangerous for them.
Epic- We don’t need to lose anyone in his mint Tempo.
Tempo- If the go
together they can do it.
Crystal- Did you
have a vision of this just now?
Tempo- No, but I’ll
pretend so if that would convince you.
Anoki- Myself and
Union- We’ll be fine
if
Anoki- I guess we
can try.
Polo- Not tonight,
everyone is tired. You need to rest to be ready.
Union-
Fine, then tomorrow.
(They begin to exit and Epic pulls
Epic- Are you sure
(Anoki remain silent on his feelings)
Crystal- If she
keeps her mind focused, she will be fine. She is a fair telepath, but she
cannot allow her feelings for Aeon to weaken her or this time he may kill
her….. The new personality is as bad or worse than the
other. His mind is a pretty full place.
Epic- Then I ask
you both to watch out that she remains strong. Her connection to him is her
greatest weakness.
Anoki- Have you
told
(Epic gets a shocked look on his face for a moment before
resuming his normal demeanor.)
Epic- As far as she
is concerned, we are only good friends. Her feelings aren’t that way for me.
Anoki- You might be
suprized.
Epic- Just be careful, please!
Epic exits and
Anoki tele- I don’t
think she wants to see him for what he really is.
Anoki tele- Then we’ll
have to find the child and see of we can’t heal him. Maybe the the two aggressive personalities will lose their power.
