Let Your Hair Down March 20, 2064 Thursday in Paris Anoki and Crystal have been busy working for several hours on a piece Anoki had choreographed. The two are beginning to grow weary as mistakes are made and they practice it again from the beginning as Anoki demonstrates. Anoki- Look dun, dun, da! And then a pirouette and lift then turn.
Crystal is growing tired of the constant restarting due to small errors or things Anoki wishes to change, but she keeps her feelings to herself, at least a bit longer.
After a few more tries the two get it right and the piece ends with Anoki lifting her down which then freezes. The two begin to giggle to each other when the music ends.
Anoki (Tele)-I know you are tired. But would you like to do it once more?
Crystal- Of course, I would.
Anoki reactivates the CD player and they reassume the starting positions and go through the dance and upon it ending, Anoki's hair falls loose of his ponytail holder. As Anoki lowers Crystal, she looks deep into his eyes.
Crystal (Tele)- Your hair is so pretty down.
Anoki- You know I always tie it back.
Crystal- Well we accomplished learning the dance you created... So are you satisfied?
She locks eyes with Anoki and gently smiles at him.
Anoki- Not entirely yet!.... I have been considering changing a few steps.
This statement provokes Crystal who playfully pushes Anoki and he stumbles back and then falls toward her knocking her back on the floor and he falls into her lap. Anoki lifts his head and the two make eye contact again.
Anoki- Well I guess that we can make the changes tomorrow. (laugh) It isn't that immediate.
They both laugh and then a strange urge comes over Crystal to run her fingers through Anoki's long hair that brushes her chest. She combs her fingers through his soft, dark brown locks and Anoki seems to almost purr at the affectionate touch. They both seem warm and Anoki reaches his mouth forward and kisses Crystal. It starts out as a slight brush on the lips that soon morphs into a fully licked hard kiss.
They kiss for several minutes and Anoki unties Crystal's hair and breathes in its sweat scent as he holds it in his long tanned fingers. When They draw away from each other and look into each others eyes Anoki suddenly realizes the situation and becomes humiliated.
Anoki- I'm sorry, I never meant for things to go this far.... We can practice... I... I got to go!
Crystal- But Anoki!
Anoki gets up, grabbing his hair tie and refastening his hair. He grabs up his bag and runs out of the studio, moist with sweat. Crystal gets severe pain in her stomach as the rejection sets in. She gets up, picking up her hair tie and towel and walks back to her room to wash up.
In the shower, Crystal wants to drown herself in the water. Suffocation would feel better than the pain she is now experiencing. And of course suffocation would soon end, would this pain inside her end?
That night at dinner Anoki avoids eye contact with Crystal and does not speak to her. This continues for two more days, which hinders their Ambassador duties. The others notice the tension between them but are unable to recognize its cause.
On the third afternoon, the silence becomes too much for Crystal to bare and she forces a confrontation with Anoki. Crystal goes into the meeting room where Anoki is working alone on his laptop computer files. He doesn't notice her presence until she locks the door. Anoki closes his computer and rises from the table to head toward the door. Crystal used her Telekinesis to shift the table and chairs in a blockade of the exit.
Crystal- I will not let you leave until we talk about what happened.
Anoki- Nothing happened.... Let me out.
Crystal- You are a poor liar, especially to me.
Anoki- I don?t want to talk about it.
Crystal- We have to... You are angry at me over the kiss.
Anoki- I?m not angry.
Crystal- Anoki, I can sense you emotions and hear your thoughts.... But only if you don't shut me out. We have always shared our feelings with each other. Why are you putting up this wall between us?
Anoki- I don't think we should have kissed.
Crystal- Why, it was what I wanted and you also.
Anoki- I don't know what I want, it just didn?t feel right.
Crystal- Why?.... Because we are siblings?.... Anoki, we aren't brother and sister by blood, there is nothing wrong about what we did.
Anoki castes his eyes down
Anoki- It somehow felt wrong to me.
Crystal stands back and tears swell her eyes. She tries to hear his thoughts but only hears confusion and anger within herself.
Crystal- Anoki, I love you. I have always loved you. I love you as my brother and a few days I loved you as my companion....
She searches his down cast face and when he lifts his eyes they lock.
Anoki- You are my sister!
These words are romantic rejection to Crystal who again uses her telekinetic powers to move the table and chairs away from the door in a heap and slams the door wide open. Anoki pulls a seat toward him and harshly places his computer onto the floor beside him and bends over to sob with his face in his hands.
That whole evening Crystal and Anoki cry inside and block their emotions to the others. As Anoki tries to sleep, but only manages to restlessly toss and turn with his eyes forced shut, he reflects on his experiences with Crystal and the kiss. He tries to deny to himself his strong feelings for her. Crystal is in anguish and becomes so ill she vomits several times. She is able to feel Anoki's pain, as he is able to feel hers. Anoki then puts more guilt on himself for the torment he is causing Crystal. At four in the morning Anoki is no longer able to deny how he feels truly in his heart and he seeks out Crystal who is no longer in her bed, but in the kitchen wolfing down energy bars to replenish herself and satisfy her urge to binge eat. He calls out to her in a soft, pleasant voice.
Anoki- You know eating so many bars may make you sick to your stomach.
Crystal- Too late, I have been sick to my stomach for days.
Anoki draws closer to Crystal and makes eye contact with her.
Anoki- I am sorry for my childish behavior... You were right.... My feelings for you have also turned romantic.... I guess it scared me to be in love.... I was foolish acting on passion and then thinking too hard about it.
Crystal- But this is me.
Anoki- I know and it is scary because we have always known each other and the change to the relationship is frightening.
Crystal- I can't help but fell how I do Anoki!
Anoki- I know, I know. I love you and I enjoyed the kiss with all my heart... The problem was my mind was getting in the way of my heart. Crystal I think you are the only person I could love as much as I love you, with all my body and soul.
Their eyes lock and they draw near each other and kiss again with a fierceness and passion much deeper and endless than before. After several moments then draw back and meet eyes again.
Anoki- I don't care to hide anything from you again.
Crystal- (whispers) I love you Anoki
Anoki (Tele)- I love you
Crystal- Eh! I didn't quite hear that?
Anoki- I love you! Crystal, I love you with all myself.
Anoki and Crystal draw close again and kiss. Crystal telepathically tells Anoki to let his hair down. Anoki smiles and pulls the tie from his hair and Crystal pulls loose her own hair and they kiss again, with their hair mingling together.
They later end up sitting in a chair holding each other.
Crystal- Remember how when we were small, we often crawled into each other's bed to sleep when we had bad dreams or felt lonesome?
Anoki- Sort of like now?
Anoki brushes a stray strand from Crystal's face.
Crystal- Well now is different, isn't it?
Anoki- I guess so, since if we were found in the same bed this morning, suspicions would be really high surrounding us.
Crystal- Well, we can't be scandalous about expressions of our feelings.
Anoki- They would tell us to get our own room.
Crystal- We would have to be married first.
Anoki- I know... But if we are going to be open about our feelings toward each other we should probably tell our siblings and guardians.
Next day after a conference Anoki and Crystal seek the advice of Mr. And Mrs. Key. They are alarmed when both doctors begin to giggle at their confession.
Gloria Key- Well honestly, I thought you two have been dating for years.
Richard Key- You have always been so close that it would only be assumed that when you were mature enough you would fall in love with each other. You two are quit a unbreakable pair if I ever did meet one.
Gloria Key- One of the first things people notice is your bond, you are a lot alike, but also different enough to be a fantastic match.
Anoki- So you are not mad at all?
Gloria Key- Why? You are seventeen years old, it is time to start relationships.
Richard Key- I don't think the NAE ever intended for you to remain single your whole lives. You are sexual beings just like everyone else... In fact I think the NAE would be happy if you two were to one day get married and perhaps have a child.
Gloria Key- Just don't proceed too fast! Otherwise you should be fine...Have fun, you're young!
As Anoki and Crystal admit their new relationship to everyone, they meet people who all knew of their strong attachment before they turned it to romantic affection.
Equinox- You are just, so innocent! (laughing) All this time you have acted like a married couple and just recently kissed for the first time. (laugh) hmmm..... At least you are keeping it in the family! When are you getting married?
Anoki is purposely insulted and he hits Equinox over the head with a pillow from the bed. Equinox continues to laugh wildly.
Equinox- Come on, you and Crystal have been together in one way or another since you were babies, that whole telepath thing you two got going. See most of us are incapable of communicating our thoughts to each other with our brain waves.
Anoki- Well not many of us can assist healing by our touch or create flames with our minds.
Equinox- You got flames going!
Anoki- Shut up! (hitting Equinox again)
Equinox- Everyone of us is special in our own way..... Some just more than others.
Equinox runs out of the room before Anoki can hit him with the pillow again.
Anoki- I suppose.... By the way how are you and Rhythm doing?
Equinox peers back into the room. And walks in as if nothing happened and sits back on his bed.
Equinox- Well, not much... We do things together when we can but all our duties sort of get in our way sometimes..... This whole dating thing is sort of funny.... I think if I mistreat her, her three brothers will come for me...
Anoki- Well don't forget her two sisters, Tempo and Union are strong gals.
Equinox- I'm more worried about Fire and Utopia's powers.
Anoki- Hmmm! Yeah! Magnetism and Manipulation might become hurtful to you!
Equinox- No, not me, but they could tear my wind scooter to shreds in retaliation.
Anoki- You are hopeless Equinox!
Equinox- You're hopelessly in Love!
He bats his eyes at Anoki, mimicking Crystal. They both begin to laugh.
