NORTH CANBERRA-GUNGAHLIN ATHLETICS presents 2003 NORTHSIDE SCHOOLS CROSS COUNTRY & FUN RUN PROGRAM McDermott Place, Lake Ginninderra SEASON REGISTRATION $9 a single person, $16 a family, or $3 per day Further information: phone John or Carol Harding 6248 6905 -- Registrations are taken at any event during the season. -- Results will be put on the North Canberra Athletics Club Internet site at: www.angelfire.com/nc/NCAC Special features: * encouragement awards each run when time improves * $200 and perpetual trophy award to primary school with greatest participation, sponsored by Project Outcomes * awards for placegetters, top points scorers and most improved at end of season championship * parents and teachers and fun runners run last event each week * perpetual trophies for winning schools in each age group from under 7 up to under 19 for both boys and girls The ACT Cross Country Club also conducts events each Saturday afternoon from 12 noon, with a special 1 to 2 km run for young runners. On the first Sunday of each month at 9am there is a 1.6 km run for primary school children in conjunction with the 3km and 6km womens only jogalong handicap runs at Weston Park. For example, in the event of rain, the competition will not be cancelled unless the conditions would present a danger to competitors. However the number 3 bike path program will replace a scheduled number 1 or 2 program on the grass. RULES FOR POINTS SCORE EVENTS 1. Each finisher scores points for his/her school. The fastest finisher scores 30, the next 29 and so on. The more runners from each school and the fitter they are, the more points scored for the school. 2. Early bird starters or late starters will have their results merged on the basis of time with the rest of the runners in their age group. 3. Each competitor must wear the official chest number each week to assist the recorder and results controller to put results on computer. 4. Age group of competitors will be age on 3 May. Competitors will then stay in the same age group all season. 5. Competitors must have run in three or more Saturday events to be eligible for prizes on the day of the championships. 6. Individual points trophies will be based on the best 7 points tallies out of the 11 points score Saturdays. Runners should not race when ill. 7. Parents and teachers may nominate a primary or secondary school against which their points will contribute to the overall primary and secondary points scores.
