Small Weapons Repairer

A Replace parts-- Identify, select correct parts, maintain correct level of parts 1000
B Presentation and packing-- Use preservatives and correct parking procedures for shipment or storage 200
C Refinish weapons-- Magniflux, refinish metal surfaces, refinish non-metal surfaces 600
D Cleaning and Inspection-- Degreasing, sandblasting, parkerizing, inspecting 500
E Stock work-- Fabricate new stocks, change length of pull, drop or pitch. Use stock jig to determine correct stock size 500
F Diagnosing malfunctions-- Disassembly, identify defects, replace or repair parts, assemble, bench check for accuracy, pattern shotguns 600
G Custom restoration and modernizing of civilian and military weapons-- Restoring, rebarreling, blueing, rechambering 1000
H Custom restoration and modernizing of civilian and military weapons-- Change safeties, change types of sights, change trigger pull, bench fire for accuracy 1000
I Fabricate new parts with power machines-- Operate lathe, drill press, sharper grinder and polisher 2000
J Fabricate new parts/items with power machines-- Fabricate special tools and jigs, operate lathe, drill press, shaper grinder and polisher 600

Special Instructions: Work processes completed in a state or federally recognized apprenticeship program will be accepted upon presentation of proper documentation to the appropriate service school.

Schedule of Related Instruction for the Trade of

Small Weapons Repairer

DOT Code: 632.281.010

AIMS Symbol: 0229

A total of 576 hours of related instruction is required in order to complete this program. Related instruction credit may be awarded individuals registered in the trade of Small Weapons Repairer taken from an accredited institution, providing the courses are similar to the courses taken for a Small Weapons Repairer program in a community college/vocational school.
