Work Process Schedule for the Trade of

Carpenter

Element Work Processes Hours
A Foundations, Walls, and Floors-- (1) Care and use of job related tools, materials, and equipment. (2) Lay out and level forms. (3) Build and place straight and irregular concrete forms. (4) Line up and brace concrete walls and columns. (5) lay out building lines. (6) Lay out footings; build forms for concrete floors. (7) Build forms for concrete stairways. 1500
B Framing (Foundations and Walls)-- (1) Lay out and frame sills and girders. (2) Frame and set floor joists. (3) Lay out and build walls and partitions. (4) Build scaffolding. (5) Install sheathing and plaster grounds. 800
C Roofs-- (1) Frame and set common, valley, hip, and jack rafters. (2) Apply sheathing, asphalt shingles and other types of roof coverings. 700
D Exterior Work and Millwork-- (1) Care and use of job related tools: skill saw, electric drill, sander, and bench saw. (2) Apply building paper. (3) Lay out, construct, and set louvers. (4) Apply outside wall coverings. (5) Lay out, cut, and install exterior trim. 1000
E Interior Wall Coverings-- (1) Apply insulation. (2) Apply wood coverings. (3) Apply composition sheet rock or fiber board. (4)Install baseboards. 500
F Floors-- (1) Lay Subfloors. (2) Lay hardwood floors. 500
G Stairs-- (1) Lay out and cut common type stringers for various types of stairways. (2) Lay out and cut treads. (3) Install railings. 500
H Interior Finish-- (1) Cut and fit base. (2) Cut and fit moulding. (3) Set and plumb door jambs. (4) Fit and hang windows and doors. (5) Fit and fasten hardware. 1000
I Miscellaneous-- (1) Build walkways. (2) Erect scaffolding. (3) Build temporary sheds. (4) Make miscellaneous repairs and additions. (5) Erect miscellaneous types of concrete forms. 1500

Special Instructions: Work processes completed in a state or federally recognized apprenticeship program will be accepted upon presentation of proper documentation to the appropriate service school.

Appendix B

Schedule of Related Instruction for the Trade of

Carpenter

DOT Code: 860.381.026

AIMS Symbol: 0067

A total of 576 hours of related instruction is required in order to complete this program. Related instruction credit may be awarded individuals registered in the trade of Carpenter taken from an accredited institution, providing the courses are similar to the courses taken for a Carpenter program in a community college/vocational school.
