A | Assemble, set up, position, and interconnect radio and television broadcasting audio equipment and cameras-- (1) Mount microphones, video cameras, remote amplifiers, lights, television cameras, lens turret, and tripod dolly. (2) Run cable attaches to camera control, align and adjust camera. (3) Adjust and align components of sound systems of cameras and amplifiers. | 1200 |
B | Operate TV and radio broadcasting audio equipment, video/TV cameras, turntables, audio consoles, tape recorder/reproducers, color TV receivers/projectors, slide projectors, universal multiplexers, televison cameras, special effect devices, and public address systems-- (1) Determine sound and audio requirements. (2) Monitor sound, maintain balance between tapes, control tone and volume during recording operations. (3) Maintain natural voice modulation and ensures sound effects and background music on cue. (4) Prepare camera and associated equipment for subject matter, movements, shot/lenses and placement required. (5) Align, adjust and operate camera by tilting, panning and framing subject matter. | 2100 |
C | Perform organizational and operator maintenance on sound and video equipment using safety precautions-- (1) Isolate inoperative or defective parts and replace defective components. (2) Tighten, clean, lubricate and adjust minor camera parts and components. (3) Check mechanical operation of camera, pickup tube carriage, condition of dolly, cradle or function head. (4) Inspect seating of camera pick-up tube. (5) Clean and dust camera lenses and face plate pick-up tube. | 1800 |
D | Direct preparation of sets, stage, setting scenery background lighting, and special effects-- (1) Conduct rehearsal of personnel. (2) Instruct in proper camera techniques and techniques of speaking before camera and microphones. (3) Evaluate technical, artistic and mechanical composition of camera work. Special Instructions: Work processes completed in a state or federally recognized apprenticeship program will be accepted upon presentation of proper documentation to the appropriate service school.
A total of 432 hours of related instruction is required in order to complete this program. Related instruction credit may be awarded individuals registered in the trade of Production Coordinator (Television and Radio Broadcasting) taken from an accredited institution, providing the courses are similar to the courses taken for a Production Coordinator (Television and Radio Broadcasting) program in a community college/vocational school.
