HOUSE CAMPLING

House Campling is one of the colonial houses of resident in Namilyango College. It's named in honor and memory of a Mill Hill missionary, Bishop W. Campling who was Bishop between 1925 and 1937. The house is located at the extreme upper end of the line of 'colonial' houses, surrounded by House Biermans, a teacher's house, and Doyle /Mckee complex. With its magnificent 19th century imposing architectural structure, House Campling accommodate's approxmately 90 students.

Up to 1992 ,the house was accomodating a whole range of 'O' level students from all the classes , but after that year it was turned into a home of S.4 and a few S.3 students , much as its official house members reside in other houses .Both its residential and official house members have been an important source of inspiration to the House.

In most of the school activities that the House has been involved in , it has emerged as one of the best houses. In cleanliness, House Campling members have worked against all odds to build a reputation for the house, as the citadel of cleanliness and smartness in school.

Academically, being a house occupied by the S.4 and S.3,the environment of the house is largely academic, to the extent that the residents in most cases, spend most of their time in the classes, and not in the house. The house is closely associated with academic atmosphere of the students in the school.

In the sports field, House Campling has spared no effort to attain superiority. The house members, in their bright RED coloured T-shirts, are a very common sight every evening at the sports field, training ,with the long term goal and ambition of dominating the sports sphere. Parents and old boys who are associated with House Campling, have also been instrumental in the activities. They have provided the much needed material and moral suport, as well as inspiring the members of the house. Mr. Pius kaweere, a prominant lawyer, civic leader and a close friend of the school, has worked tirelessly to project image of the house out side Namilyango College.

House Campling has also proved to be the school's most important producer of students' leaders. In 1993 and 1994, House Campling was able to produce two succesive Head Prefects, being the first to do so in so many years. In almost all years, there has always been a member of the house among the top students' leadership in the school. This is a rare fate, that has elicited self-pride among the members of House Campling.

The house has achieved all that it has, because of the cordial working relationship between house master Mr. Moses Bagambisa, the senior and junior house prefects and captains, and the entire students' body in the house, both official and residential. This working relationship has further enhanced the common position that the house members have found in their legendary father-of-the-house, Bishop W. Campling. As a way of paying homage and tribute to his contribution to mankind, the members of House Campling are looking forward to project his principles and personality, both within and outside NAMILYANGO COLLEGE.
