Well, I guess you are wondering who I am and just what am I about. My name is Rick and I live in Burgaw, North Carolina, with my wife of nineteen years, Karen. Together we have two children, one son, eighteen years old, and one daughter, thirteen years old. I was raised about twenty miles south of Burgaw, in Wilmington, NC. I’ve lived in Los Angeles and Houston, but give me southeastern North Carolina any day of the week.
Thirty-five years ago, (I was five then), my granddad took me to a little creek not far from his home in Newton Grove, NC. That is where the “bug” bit me…..the fishing bug. I’ll never forget pulling in my first catfish. Back then, I would have sworn that sucker weighed at least 20-30 pounds!!! But in reality, it would be lucky to tip the scales at a pound. There’s no exaggeration, though, about the joy I felt way back then. My granddad was the one who taught me how to fish, how to clean ‘em, how to bait my hook, and most of all…how to enjoying fishing.
From a cane pole with a hand made hook and bobber, to a ten spinning reel, skirted spool, mounted on a Shakespeare Ugly Stick, I’ve just about done it all. Hey! If I haven’t caught it, you can be assured I’ve lost it!! I hope you enjoy my webpage, Surf Fishing in Southeastern North Carolina. I’ve tried to include a little bit of everything. All through this web site, you will notice a weather bar for different cities along the Carolina coast. Below, you can check out the links to these different cities to see just where my neck of the woods is.
