Shoot Interviews

Abdullah the Butcher (98) (3 hrs; VG) It's rare to hear this Hardcore Legend speak, much less conduct a 3+ hour interview. Topics discussed include the Bruiser Brody; Japan; the night he was burned by Balls Mahoney; WWF; Hogan; ECW; Sabu; Sandman; tons more

Axl Rotten (4 hrs; EX) Hilarious! Axl is very opinionated on everything in the wrestling business and this tape is funny as hell. Axl talks about ECW; being left off of Barely Legal; why he and Balls never got the tag straps; what he thinks about his time spent in WCW; the hardcore style; Ian Rotten; and tons more. Also includes matches and clips of his career.

Balls Mahoney (3:30; VG) Another great shoot. Balls is also very opinionated and almost as funny as Axl's tape. Balls talks about why he and Axl never got the tag straps; Masato Tanaka; The Dudleys; the hardcore style; Abdullah the Butcher; Puerto Rico; getting his start on the indy scene; ECW; SMW; the chair-swinging freak gimmick; and tons more. Also some great stories regarding his time in the WWF and the night he wanted to kill Jim Duggan. Includes matches and clips of his career.

Best of the Jim Cornette Shoot Interviews (1 hr; VG) This tape kicks ass. Cornette is among my top two or three favorite people in the wrestling business. This is a compilation of the best moments from all his past shoots (discounting the eight-hour Cornette 2000 shoot). Cornette (in addition to being probably the smartest mind in the business) tells the best stories. Outstanding stuff, for shoot fans.

Bill Watts (3 hrs; Good) Great shoot. Bill Watts is controversial, opinionated, and tells it like it is throughout this interview. Topics covered include racism in wrestling; drugs in the wrestling business; Erik Watts; going to WCW in 1992; Ron Simmons; Missy Hyatt; Eddie Gilbert; Shawn Michaels; Turner Broadcasting; Vince McMahon; Mick Foley; Jim Crockett; Jerry Jarrett; the RNRX; and a ton more. Watts' career as an active wrestler is also covered in depth. This is a very, very interesting, great shoot. Matches are on here too, including one of the best hours of UWF television ever.

Bobby Fulton (4 hrs, Good) What can I say, I am a MARK for these old-school shoots. Bobby gives very much a history of his career in the wrestling business, talking about working for Nick Gulas; Stu Hart; Jim Crockett; Bill Watts; Jerry Jarrett; Bill Dundee; Jim Cornette; and a myriad of others; how he and Tommy Rogers hooked up; Buddy Landell; Chris Plano (!!); and just a ton of other things. GREAT shoot, many great matches and angles included.

Blue Meanie and Jasmin St. Claire (3 hrs; VG) Meanie talks about breaking into the business in wrestling schools and the indy circut; his days in ECW; Raven; Meanie; Sandman; New Jack; the bWo, the paradoies of other wrestlers; Bluedust; Nova; jumping to the WWF; why their plans for him fell through; working with Goldust; Memphis; losing weigh; Jasmin; and a ton more. Jasmin discusses the porn industry and what she really thinks about it, wanting to make it in the wrestling business and more. Good shoot, includes matches.

Bret Hart (3 hrs; VG, save for some technical difficulties experienced by RF towards the end) Bret is one of my personal favorite performers of the last decade, and this is a very interesting shoot. Bret reveals a lot of never-before-heard information regarding his career in the WWF and how it ended, as well as his relationship with Shawn Micahels (his version of it, at least). As a wrestling fan, watching both Bret and Shawn's shoots back to back is very interesting, and judge for yourself which one you believe. Bret also talks about breaking in the business in his father's territory in Calgary; working Japan; the early days with the Hart Foundation; the pink and black look; and a ton more. Very good shoot, with some Bret matches from Japan included also.

Brian Lee (3 hrs; Poor) Lee talks about his time in SMW; ECW; the feud with Dreamer; being the Underfaker in 1994; the WWF; DOA; and everything else in his career. Includes matches and clips of his career.

Bruiser Brody (about 30 mins; watchable, that's about it) Interesting tape, Brody sits in on some local talk show from around 1984 and basically just kind of explains the way the business works to them. Talks about the days of territories; World Class; the WWF (this was not long after Vince Jr. had taken over and before the "boom" of the mid-80s); how you get into the business; and other similar aspects. He also touches briefly on working with World Class and his pro football career. Very interesting and cool if you're a Brody fan.

Buddy Landel (4 hrs; VG) Landel talks openly about working with Mid South and Bill Watts; his days in the NWA; the "Nature Boy" nickname; why he never "made it big"; SMW; Memphis; his brief stint in the WWF; Puerto Rico; and tons more. Includes matches and clips.

Chris Candido (3 hrs; Master) I am not the person to ask about this tape. I am the biggest Chris Candido mark in the world so naturally I love it. Candido talks candidly on his start in the business; his grandfather; working at age 14; Balls Mahoney; Bam Bam Bigelow; Sabu; Paul Heyman and their relationship; Tammy and their relationship; the Clique; Bret; Triple H; Vince; The Rock; Russo; Cornette; and a ton more. Candido also talks about drugs in the wrestling business; his current situation; working for New Japan and FMW; his partnership with Pat Tanaka; and more. This is a great tape, a really good shoot, three hours straight interview, no matches.

Dennis Corraluzzo

Dusty Rhodes (3 hrs; Good) Dusty was always one of the most controversial people in the business and he talks about his booking style; being Executive Producer and also booker at WCW for years; the NWA; the Horsemen; how Starrcade came about; Goldust; his relationship with his son; much more. Includes matches and clips.

Eddie Gilbert (2 hrs; Fair)

George South (2 hrs or so; VG) This is a good old-school shoot interview. South has been in the business 20+ years and has lots of interesting stories to tell. While South has never made it big, he's seen it all from Georgia to the NWA to WCW to the WWF as one of the most well-known job guys of all time. South makes a lot of valid points about the current state of the wrestling business. Tons of old NWA matches featuring South against practically every top guy from the Crockett era are included as well.

Honky Tonk Man
(3:30, VG) Very good shoot, touches on his start in the business, working for Stampede, Memphis, and everywhere else before the WWF, all his experiences in the WWF, Bad News Brown, Randy Savage, Ted Dibiase, how HTM changed the entire landscape of professional wrestling just before WrestleMania IV, Ultimate Warrior, WCW, Eric Bischoff, and a ton more. Really good.

Iron Shiek Vol. II

Jim Cornette (93) (3 hrs or so; Good/Fair) This one too...damn, I have too many tapes here.

Jack Victory (4 hrs; Good) Great shoot where Victory tells tons of good old school stories about Mid South; the NWA; travelling with the Steiners; Bill Watts; World Class; the Von Erichs; Flair; the night club business; how he got into ECW; and tons more. This is a great shoot for old school fans as Victory has been around a long time and has tons of stories to tell. Includes matches and clips.

Jake the Snake Roberts (4 hrs; VG) This is a great shoot. Roberts may very well be the most misunderstood person in the wrestling business, and he talks about a lot of things, working for Bill Watts; Fritz Von Erich; Stu Hart; Vince McMahon; Paul E; Georgia; everyone. Roberts is a straight-shooter and tells exactly what he thinks about nearly eveyone he has come into contact with in the wrestling business. Very cerebrial shoot interivew with one of the best minds in the wrestling business. Roberts is upfront about a lot of things in this shoot, leaving the viewer to make their own conclusions. Great shoot, matches included.

Jerry the King Lawler
(4 hrs; VG) Lawler goes into LONG WINDED detail about his start in the business; his favorite wrestlers growing up; his childhood; his favorite toy as a kid (okay, so now I am just being silly, but he realy does talk about all that other crap); working in Memphis; working for Jackie Fargo; Eddie Gilbert; Vince McMahon; the WWF; Jim Ross; and a ton moore. This was before his release from the WWF. Includes matches

Justin Credible (3 hrs; Good) Credible talks about his time in the WWF as Aldo Montoya; how he got the gimmick in the first place; ECW; Dreamer; Memphis; Owen Hart; and tons more. The good part comes when Credible talks about the time he spent in the WWF with The Clique, he has some very interesting stories about the night of the "curtain call" in MSG; Triple H; Waltman; Shawn Michaels; Hall; Nash; Montreal; the night Quebeccer Pierre did not want to cooperate with Nash; and tons more. Includes matches and clips.

Konnan (conducted by RF Video) (4 hrs; VG) Konnan is very knowledgible and has a great mind for the business, and this comes though in this shoot. Konnan talks about AAA, mexican wrestling in general; WCW; ECW: Paul E; Sabu; Sandman; Hall; Nash; Syxx; the Radicalz; Los Gringos Locos; Art Barr; Perro Aguayo; all the other names in lucha libre and American wrestling you can think of. This is a wild shoot, as, really for the first time, you're hearing a first-hand take on the situations in WCW from someone who is still in the company. Good shoot, several Los Gringos Locos matches included as well.

Konnan (not RF) (30 mins; VG) Konnan sits down in a hotel room and kind of gives a commentary concerning what he thinks about the state of Mexican wrestling at the time; working for WCW (this was just after Konnan's US title reign and before "K-Dogg" and the NWO); bringing the Luchadors to WCW; and more.

Lance Storm (4 hrs; VG) Storm talks about The Thrillseekers; working with Jericho; SMW; training in Calgary (dramatic pause) Alberta, Canada; The Harts; Cornette; Japan; Paul E.; ECW; Barely Legal; The Impact Players; working with Justin Credible; drugs in the wrestling business; garbage wrestling; and much more. Fernandez has seen it all and done it all, this is a great shoot.

New Jack (4 hrs; Good) New Jack can be obnoxious, vulgar, frank, and speaks his mind on a lot of things, and this comes across on the shoot. New Jack talks about getting his start in the business; indys; his idols growing up as a mark; racism in the wrestling business; Too Cold Scorpio; Brian Pillman; SMW; why ECW is the place for him; hardcore wrestling; the Dudleys; and more. New Jack is very laid-back at times but also quite funny when he gets going. Includes matches and clips.

New Jack Part II aka the "Not Guilty shoot" (2 hrs; VG) New Jack sits down with RF Video again, and essentially just, well, is New Jack, for about an hour, very little actual interview context, RF tries to throw some questions out there, but New Jack's only real response is "Not Guilty". Not a great shoot by any stretch of the imagination, but funny. Matches included.

Ricky Morton (4 hrs; Good) Another good shoot very much like Jack Victory's, Morton has been everywhere, seen it all and done it all, and has tons of good stories for the old school fan. Talks about the popularity of the Rock N Roll Express; the NWA; Mid South; Midnight Express; teaming with Robert; how they got the Rock N Roll Express gimmick; Jerry Lawler; the WWF; Vince McMahon; Dusty Rhodes; Ric Flair; and tons more. Very informative and funny at times with great stories plus matches and clips.

Rick Steamboat
(3 hours +matches; VG) Holy crap! This shoot rules. As far as a tape description...uhhh...it's Rick Steamboat, do I really need to provide an introduction? The guy has done everything (ok, everything but be a heel) and has done it better than just about anyone else. Some good matches from Japan are included also. This is the easily the most educational shoot I've ever watched. Steamboat talks at great length about this business, work ethic, how to work, why the guys today don't get it, and a ton more. He also naturally gives his thoughts on his entire career and nearly all the people he encountered during it. Great shoot.

The Rock N Roll Express
Just got it -- more info once I have a chance to watch it.

The Road Warriors (4 hrs; VG) One of the most influencial tag teams of all time partake in RF's first tag team shoot interview. Hawk and Animal give their opinions on their entire careers, including stints in the NWA, WCW, the WWF, Japan, and more. Both men are very open and honest in regards to their true feelings about the wrestling business, the WWF especially. This is a great shoot, with tons of stories and little-known facts. Hawk in particular is very outspoken about the WWF and his displeasure with Vince McMahon. Both guys talk about their starts in the business; Paul Ellering; the Steiners; Dusty; Baba; Titan; and a ton more. TONS of matches included also.

HBK Shawn Michaels (3 hrs; VG) Shawn talks in-depth about breaking into the business; working for Bill Watts; working for Vern Gagne; working for Vince McMahon; the Rockers and their split; why he almost quit the WWF in 1991; why the Rockers never officially got the Tag Title belts; the Clique and their power; TWA; his last match with Austin; his relationship with Hall, Nash, Douglas, and Bret; and a ton more. Shawn also gives his version of the truth regarding Montreal, as does Bret. Both of those shoots are must see. Matches from Japan are included also.

Very funny shoot. Matches included.

Ted Dibiase (4 hrs; EX) A good shoot, Dibiase has seen a lot in his days and speaks his mind on a lot of topics. He talks about being from a wrestling family; his start in the business; Mid South; the Funks; Bill Watts; Steve Williams; Hacksaw Duggan; JYD; turning him heel in Mid South; Harley Race; why he never won the NWA world title; why he never won the WWF world title; the Million Dollar Man gimmick; Hulk Hogan; the twin referee angle; WrestleMania; Virgil; the nWo; and a ton more.
