Poems of Motherhood written by Ginger Strivelli

----------Lines I wrote to read at my Mawie's funeral in 2011 (The grandmother who raised me)---------------

In the winter when a sparkling white snowflake lands in my hair
I'll know Mawie crocheted it for me and sent it with care
In the spring when I see a perfect purple flower
I'll know Mawie crocheted it a gift to me from her
In the summer when a pretty blue butterfly lights nearby
I'll know Mawie crocheted it and sent it to say hi
In the Autumn when a bright orange leaf falls in my way

I'll know Mawie crocheted it and dropped it to brighten my day

__________________Motherhood's Magic__________________

Far more magical than the strongest of charms Is a Mother with a blessed baby in her arms.
far more magical than a crystal ball or a candle flame,
is a Mother for the first time speaking her childs name.
Far more magical than an incantation, thrice spoken,
is a Mother and her baby locked into a loving gaze unbroken.
Far more magical than all of earth and heaven above,
is a Mother and her baby embracing forever in love.

You are the Goddess incarnate with life blooming in your womb,
You are magic personified with power over all doom,
the full Moon, swollen with the most mystic energy,
the Mother Earth, with the endless fertility of land and sea.
Every breath, every bite, nourishes a new life within,
a life that through your body did begin,
a life that you have brought to the Earth,
a holy child that you will birth,
the child you will feed with milk from your own breast,
the child you will name, love, and make bless'd.
You are a mother a reflection of the Divine Mother.
You are Her, She is you you are eachother.

Just some lines I wrote as my facebook status last night: 8-24-09

'twas the night before school starts back and everyone was all out-of-whack,
backpacks laid out, supply lists checked, and school forms filled out in triplicate.
What shall I wear, can I bring this for snack,
I need a red folder with brackets, and a pencil bag to pack
...no it can't be a box, must be a bag which I lack
Tissues, hand soap, sandwich bags...what is all this crap?
Do I have the binder that is black?
