Snowhead Temple
Back at the dawn of the first day. Slow time down, and you might want to purchase some arrows while you’re in town. Save you some frustration. Then warp back to Snowhead.
Try to walk the path to the temple. Tatl will point out that something is in the middle of blizzard, can’t you see it? Nope, not like we are now. Try to keep walking forward, and you’ll get blown backwards. Take out your Lens and you’ll see this HUGE Goron blocking the temple and blowing gusts of winds. Hmm… How can we side step Gorons? Put on the Goron mask and play Goron’s Lullaby to put big Goron to sleep. He’ll curl up and fall off the edge into the great underworld. Ouch… Anyway, now that he’s gone, continue on. To the left is the path spiraling up. Eventually, you’ll enter Snowhead Temple…
In this first room, take the Goron mask off and go into Deku mode. There are White Boes in the room, which are much easier to take care of as a Deku. Break the ice stalagmites and go back into Goron mode. Push the big block forward until it falls. In the next room is a White Wolfos. Take care of him and go through the door on your right, the only door you can use right now. In this room, Tatl tells you that the ground is slippery and good for rolling as a Goron and that you should try it. And so we do. Line yourself up with the bridge and then move back as far as you can. When the second Freezard stops blowing, start rolling forward. Remember to stay straight, then fly off the ramp. When you’re on the other side, go into Link mode. Look down and there’s a column with a fairy in a bubble. Shoot the Fairy with an arrow, then look on the other side. Under the ledge at the door is another bubble-trapped fairy. Free her, then use the Great Fairy’s Mask to get them to come to you. Jump to the ledge and go up the stairs. In this room is a real Bombchu (kill it by touching it with your shield), a treasure chest with the map, and a fairy flying around. Get what you need then go back down. Now go through the other door. BIG room. Go across the gray platform and to the left. The red trimmed door is frozen over. But if you can shoot and arrow through the torch at the ice, you can melt it. However, this just brings you to the second room with the Wolfos. Go back out. Go to the yellow trimmed door. As a Goron, pull out the tall block to the left and push it to the farthest square. Once in place, the block will sink and a small chest will appear. But we can’t get to it yet. :T Go to where you got the block from and you’ll see a treasure chest. Open it to find a key, then go back to the second room with the Wolfos. Now you’ve got a key so go through the looked door. In this room, a few Wolfos pop up. There’s also a treasure chest containing the Compass. On the far side of the room, there’s a cracked wall. Blow it away with a bomb and go up the revealed stairs. In this room, there are different columns with big ice chunks. But there’s also sharp ice chunks hanging from above. Shoot down the sharpies to break the chunkies. When you get to it, break the big snowball and get the key from the treasure chest inside. Before you use the key though, look on the wall for what looks like a white drape. Then look at it through the Lens of Truth. There’s a hole in the wall with a small chest. In the small chest is a fairy. Now go through the locked door. In this room, kill all the Boes in the pit, then take out the Lens and look up. There’s a bubbled fairy up there. Get it, then as a Goron, go to the raised circular platform. Then pound it. (Hold “A” and press “B”.) This will raise a platform in the pit, one blocking the door, and the green switch. Pound the green switch and a green platform in the pit will rise. But it’s timed, so be quick about what you have to do next. Go to the raised yellow platform in the pit and pound it. This will lower the yellow platforms, including the one blocking the door. Then go into Link mode, jump on the green platform, then to the ledge, then through the door. In this room (the “big room” but at a different level), you need Goron mode again. There is much rolling and spiking and flying over holes. Watch yourself when you get to the other side, there’s ice. Now roll on the snow to the right, ignore the door, and roll your way across another bridge. Then you’ll encounter “Wizrobe”. (Gosh, I hate the music they play during these things. It ups your anxiety level about ten notches.) He pops up from one of his squares and shoots ice-ness at you. All you have to do is shoot him before he shoots you. After a bit, he’ll run around to different squares. Now there will be fake ones in the squares. It’s easy to find the real Wizrobe because you can Z-target him. My strategy is to stand in the middle and spin around with your arrow ready until you see the real one. When he dies, a treasure chest will appear, with Fire Arrows on the inside! Score! Now you can melt ice and hurt ice enemies. Go back out and roll back across and go in the door that you had previously ignored. You’re on the upper level of the room with the Bombchu. Shoot a fire arrow at the frost over eye plaque. This will make the platform down below rise. It’ll be helpful for if you fall to a lower level and need get back up. Just remember that this room is upstairs from the ledge where a bubbled Fairy was under, with the Freezards? Yeah, remember that room? Anyway, now look around with the Lens. There are very small platforms leading to a hole in the wall. In the hole, there is a chest. In the chest, there is a fairy. Now go all the way back to the original level of the big room. With the big circular gray platform. In the room with the yellow and green switches, you can just shoot that ice and walk across. Melt the ice in the room you broke the wall. (Watch out for the Wolfos.) There’s a switch under one ice. Step on it and a chest will appear. And there’s a small block under another ice. The last ice you can just leave, it’s not blocking anything. Push the block so you can jump to the ledge with the newly appeared chest. There’s a fairy inside. Now push the block so you can jump to the other ledge. Throw a bomb at the box on one of the columns by where the broken wall was. There’s a fairy inside. Now go through the door. Now you’re on the upper level of the similar room. Jump to the tall block, then to the other ledge. In that chest is another Fairy. Now continue to make your way back to the original level of the big room. Kill the ice blocking the green-trimmed door. (Next to the yellow door.) Kill the Freezards with fire arrows. When they’re all gone, a chest will appear. There’s a fairy inside. Now light the torches. You can use fire arrows, or if you need to save magic energy and have Deku sticks, light one torch with a fire arrow and light the others a Deku. There are three torches to light. When they’re all lit, the door will unbar. In this room is another large switch. Pound it in Goron mode and the large platform in the middle of the room will rise, and the switch below you will rise. Now remember that room with the rising platform and the Bombchu? Make your way to that room. Go out the green door, through the red door, then through the blue door to the left. Jump to the other side like before. If you want, you can kill all three Freezards and get the key from the treasure, but it’s really not necessary. Then go up the stairs. Ride the platform up to the second level (you’ll probably have to kill the Freezard again and unfreeze the eye), and go through the door. Here, the big platform will block any bridge jumping. But there are blue sections in the platform. They’re ice and you can break them if you hit them as a Goron. Make sure you get both ice sections. (You should be glad for this walkthrough, you have no idea how long it took me to figure out you could get rid of those things.) Now make your way to the right and up the stairs. Then take the snow right and get rid of two more ice sections. Then back up the snow and walk across. Get rid of the snowballs in your way and go up the stairs. Make your way to the other side of the bridge. Oooo, the boss’ lair is beyond that door… But we don’t have the boss key! But look, there’s a Deku flower. Go into Deku mode and glide to the bridge to your lower right (the one with only one door. Go in the door. In this room, there are two Dinofols. Watch out, cause remember? After you slash them, they like to blow fire. You’ll get a fairy from each after they die. In the next room as some Eenos. Look for that white drapery again. With the Lens, you can see there’s a hole there with a bubbled fairy inside. Then there’s the locked door they last key would be for. But it just leads to the big room. Anyway, go out and drop on the big platform and make your way back to the Deku flower. This time, glide to the left. Go in the first door. (The other one’s barred.) In this room, you’ll have to fight Wizrobe again. Bleh. And now he’s got more squares to pop out of. Take him like you did the first time. My position of choice is the raised platform without the square, with all the pots. Just watch out, some of the squares might be out of your range. You can tell the real one because he’s the one with the fire. When he dies, the door will be unbarred. In the next room is a big colorful chest! Yes, open it and find the Boss key! But before you go see the boss, you might want to get the last fairies. There’s drapery stuff on a wall in the BIG room. Get as close as you can to the invisible hole, and use the Bunny Hood to jump to the chest. Right, I know we don’t have the Bunny Hood yet. You actually can’t even get it until you beat this temple. So go ahead and continue on. But come back got the last fairy before you start time over. Otherwise, you’ll lose all the other fairies. Drop all the way down to the bottom of the big room. Watch out for Red Bubbles popping out of the lava pits in the room. Step on the big switch in the lava pit as a Goron and a chest with a Fairy will appear. NOW… go on into the Boss’ Lair…
You see what looks like a large ox frozen in ice. Now, let’s see. We know we could melt him with a fire arrow… but we also know we’re in the boss’ lair… Oh well, we unfreeze the beast anyway! This is Goht, the Masked Mechanical Monster. He bursts through the wall and takes off running. But ya know what? For me, this was the easiest boss in the whole freakin game. All you do is go into Goron mode, and chase after him with spikes. You run out of magic energy, you just fill up with the many pots along the track. I mean, you’re just going in one big circle. The hardest part is just avoiding the debris he kicks up. And sometimes he’ll shoot electric bolts at you, but these also are easy to avoid. So just spike him a few times. You’ll think you got him, but then he’ll start running again. Then he rams his head into a wall, boulders fall on him and he dies. Woohoo! Get your heart then go into the light…
You will receive Goht’s remains and again be transported to the “Entity Realm”. Tatl questions the entities and they say they’re guardians. Tatl continues her queries but yall are shipped away. Then you’ll see the Gorons defrost and spring returns to the mountain. Yay!
If at all possible, do this before you start time over. But if you’re low on time, go ahead and start over. If you have to start over, remember to slow time down. Then go back to Snowhead, gather the fairies and kill Goht again. Yeah, you need to kill Goht again to get spring back to the mountain.
Now we need to work on getting the last fairy. Go to Goron Village. Where there was a big doorway being blocked by ice, you can now go in. So go ahead and do it. Slide down some slopes and there’s a big Goron. He sells powder kegs, but he’ll only sell it to Gorons. And you have to pass a test first. He’ll give you a ticking powder keg and you have to quickly take it to open the passage to the Goron Racetrack. So hightail out of Goron Village and across the bridges. After the bridges, go up the slopes on the right. When you get to slopes (including in the powder keg shop), you have to throw the keg up the slope, then roll up yourself. Set the powder keg down by the big boulder, then you can wait for it to go off or you can shoot it with an arrow. After you blow the boulder up, go back to the big Goron. He’ll give you permission to carry powders kegs. He’ll also give you one for free. Awesome. To get the Bunny Hood, you’ll also need the Bremen Mask. If you don’t have that yet, warp to Clock Town and refer to the Mask Section and get it. Anyway, then go out the South Gate and instead of going to the swamp, veer to the right to Milk Road.
By the first left of Milk Road, there’s an owl statue. Go ahead and open it. Keep going up the road, and you’ll see a man chipping away at a big rock blocking the road. Pull out the powder keg and set it down right in front of the rock. The dude will run out of the way. You’d better back up too. Either let the fuse go off or shot the keg with an arrow. When the keg blows up, it’ll blow the rock away too. Score! Go on forward to Romani Ranch. Proceed to the back of Romani Ranch and go in the Cucco Shack. Use the Bremen Mask to gets the little cucco chicks to follow you around. Once you get them all (there’re ten), they’ll pop into big cuccos. Talk to Grog and he’ll give you the Bunny Hood.
Now go BACK the Snowhead and get the last fairy. Remember, it’s in the big room with the white drapery, hidden behind a fake wall. Go to the top of the big column and jump to the hole in the wall. With the Bunny Hood on, you can jump a lot further. The fairy is in a treasure chest. To turn in your fairies, see the Goron Village Goodies section.
