Water Medallion

Now's your time to explore the Death Mountain Crater. There's a Great Fairy Fountain down there. She'll double your magic meter. Go back to the broken bridge and get across by hookshoting the broken part of the bridge then pull yourself up. Go to the right and you'll see two tan rocks. Now that you've got your Megaton Hammer, you can smash the tan and brown boulders, so smash then and go to the fountain. Also, under many rocks are hiding grottos, little hole inthe ground with goodies inside. There's a piece of heart in that tall, steep wall that you can climb down and get. Also, there was an area to plant a magic bean as a child, and there will now be a floating plant that will take you to a piece of heart. Eventually Navi will start nagging you again. Something about Zora's River... Hmm... MAYBE WE SHOULD GO TO ZORA'S DOMAIN! o_O

When do get to Zora's Domain, you'll see that eveything is frozen over! Go to the King, and you'll see that he's in an odd red ice. But, he hadn't scootched his butt over in 7 years, so the opening to Zora's Fountain is still open, go back there. When you get back there and you'll see that Lord Jabu Jabu is gone, but big platforms of ice are floating around. You can hop from one to another. If you go north, there's a piece of heart, if you go west, there's the entrance to the Ice Caverns...

Now, the Ice Caverns isn't an official dungeon, but like a mini one, so don't spaz. First you'll see some ice stalagmites (icicles growing from the ground). You can break these by hitting them with your sword. Soon you'll come to a circular chamber with ice structures, called Freezzards, that blow freezing air. Z-target and hookshot at them, then slash them with your sword a couple of times. Also, be careful because there's a spikey thing that goes around the room. Once all the Freezzards are gone, a tunnel will be unbarred. Go in there, through a hallway, and you'll be in another large room. There are silver rupees around the room and a large spiny thing. Don't touch it! Those things that are spinning are blades. Also, there are flying pots! When you go near it, it'll float up then fling itself at you. Just shield yourself and you'll be okay. Collect all the silver rupees and another tunnel will be unbarred. Go through the tunnel and you'll come to a couple of spikey things and a Freezard. Kill the Freezzard, avoid the spikey things, and proceed. Then you'll come to another large room. Be extremely careful!! There are fire Keese, but it's BLUE fire. If they touch you, you'll get turned into an ice cube. There are also Freezzards. BUT, there is also a large torch of blue fire. That's what we need! You have to empty a bottle and then swipe the bottle over the blue fire. It'll be in the bottle; fill as many bottles as you can, you'll be needing the blue fire quite a bit. First, in the same room, go to a large red ice cube-lookin thing. Dump some blue fire on it. The red ice will melt away to reveal a big chest! Open it and inside is a map! Okay, now go back to the room with the big blades, and turn to the right. Against the wall is some more red ice. Give it some blue fire and the ice will melt. One will reveal a room with a blue fire torch, a piece of heart, and a Golden Skulltula (talk about hitting the jackpot!) and another will reveal a tunnel. Go through the tunnel and you'll come upon another room with silver rupees, and a large ice platform that you can push around. Go to the right side of the platform and push it. It'll stop on a piece of ice. Climb on the platform then on the ice to get the silver rupee. Then go to the left side of the platform and push it. Then climb on and get the silver rupee from the piece of ice. Push from the left, then right, then right again, from there, jump to the ledge with a blue fire torch and refill. Jump down from the ledge, then push the platform off the edge. Don't worry, another platform will grow back Push it forward, then from the left. It'll end up against the wall, so climb up, and jump to the red ice and melt it with your blue fire. Inside is the last silver rupee. Once you get it, another tunnel will be unbarred. Fill up your blue fire if need be. Then get a new platform. Push forward, then right, then left, then right, then right again, and finally left. Climb up the platform, and jump to the tunnel. Along your way through you'll encounter two Freezards and a red ice block. (Go refill blue fire if you need. You'll want to have a bottle full when you're done with the Ice Caverns, keep that in mind.) Then you'll seem to get to the end of the tunnel. Up notice an oddly rectangular piece of ice, darker than the surrounding wall. It's actually a door! Open it and you'll be in a beautiful starry room. Here you'll encounter a white Wolfo. He's pretty! But a bit larger than regular Wolfos. Just kill him the same way you would regular Wolfos. When he's gone, a big chest will appear and the door will be unbarred. Open the chest and there's a pair of iron boots! When you wear these boots, it'll be harder to walk, but you can go in water and walk around! Then Sheik will appear behind you! He'll tell you how all the Zora's are trapped under this ice because of a monster in the Water Temple. He'll also say that he managed to save the Zora princess, but she went to the Water Temple. Then he'll teach you the Serenade of Water, which will transport you to near the Water Temple. After that, he'll fanish. Now go towards the back of the room and you'll see a small hole filled with water... Heehee. Put your Iron Boots on and sink to the bottom. Navi will start screaming at you saying you can't breath under water! Well, DUH. It's not going to take that long. There's a door right in front of your face. Go through it then walk up the hill and you'll be out of the water! Then take the iron boots off and go forward. Jump off the edge and you'll be in the first large room in the Ice Caverns. Just go out the way you came, and go back to King Zora. Hey! King Zora has red ice around him! Use that Blue Fire you your supposed to bring back with you. See? Plexie isn't so dumb is she? (And for those you who are wondering, I'm not blonde. :) ) Once King Zora is unfrozen, go to the little spot where you talk to him, and talk to him. He'll be happy that you unfroze him and he'll give you a Zora Tunic to express his gratitude. With a Zora Tunic you won't choke when you go under water. After that, head to Lake Hylia.

Ack! The lake has been drained! Well, they don't have any water coming from Zora's Domain - it's all frozen! Oh well, let's get started. If you planted a Magic Bean in the soil near the Lakeside Laboratory, then you'll see that there's another hover plant now there! Hop on and it'll take you to the top of the laboratory. If you get off here, you can climb up the chimney and get a piece of heart! Or you can stay on the hover plant and it'll bring you to a little house against the wall. Go in there and you'll find a small fishing pond. There are a bunch of fish in there, some are really big! If you get a fish larger than 10 pounds, bring it to the dude at the desk and ask him to weigh it. Now, it depends, and it my take awhile, but after awhile, for a prize he'll give you Gold Scale! Now you can dive to 8 feet! Go back to the Lakeside Laboratory and go inside. There's a little pool inside; jump in and dive to the bottom, then go talk to the funky little dude. He'll notice that you touched the bottom and give you a piece of heart! Now go back out and go to the little island with a big tree in the middle of the used-to-be lake. Watch out for Guays, which are annoying little birds that dive at you. When you get to the island, notic that there is still a little bit of water at the bottom. Hop off the island and put your Zora Tunic and Iron Boots on. Go to the very bottom and you'll see a closed gate. Look above it and you'll see a silver square with a crystal-like thing. Shoot the crystal thing and the gate will open. Enter through the gate and you shall enter the Water Temple!

Once in the Water Temple, take the boots off and float to the top and climb out of the water. Look across the moat of water and you'll see a bulls-eye looking thing. Shoot your hookshot at it and you'll be pulled toward it. Now go to the right and kill the Tektite. Look across the moat and swim to the opening. Go around the corner and put your Iron Boots on, then fall into the hole. Soon you'll see a wall with a big block inside. Pull the block out as far as it will go, then go back, take your boots off, get out of the water, go back to the moat, put your Iron Boots back on then sink to the bottom of the moat. When you get to the bottom, you'll see an opening with torches on either side. Go in and down the hallway. When you get to a room, you'll see Ruto! She's all grown up like you and, pretty gross looking. Anyway, that's beside the point. She'll introduce herself as your fiancée, which is another frightening point. She'll talk a bit about how terrible it is that Zora's Domain is frozen and that she's going to save everyone. Then she'll tell you that there are three places in this temple where you can change the water level. Then she'll tell you to follow her and she'll start swimming up. Walk to the center of the room and take the Iron Boots off, then float to the top. You'll go up to the third level of the temple, then climb out of the water. But when you look around, Ruto's not there! Look at the wall to the right and you'll see a plaque on the wall with the Triforce symbol. Whip out your Ocarina and play Zelda's Lullaby while standing under the Triforce. When you play that, the water will indeed lower to the bottom. But before you jump down the hole after it, go in the door next to you. Inside are three spikey-lookin things called, amazingly, Spikes. Watch out because they'll start rolling to you! Just put up your shield and they'll turn into what looks like a stone. Slash them with your sword and that'll kill them. When they're all gone, a big chest will appear. Open it and you'll find the map inside! Then go back out the door and now you can fall down the hole. Brace yourself, it might hurt when you hit the bottom. Link pancakes!! >:) At the bottom room, you'll see that the torch in the center of the room is now lit. Also, notice two temporary torches in the corners. Light them either by using Din's Fire or by shooting an arrow through the large torch at the smaller ones. Once the two torches are lit, the door will be unbarred. Go through the door and you'll see three clam-like things called Shell Blades. They'll turn to you in unison, and when you go close to one, it'll open it's mouth. (Well, if you could call that a mouth.) Shoot your hookshot at it's mouth- Z-targeting helps - and it'll die. If you don't shoot fast enough, the shell blade will turn around and jump at you with it's spikes. Just shield yourself and try again. Once all the Shell Blades are gone, a treasure chest will appear. Inside is a key. Get out of the room and go into the main area. Go to the right and kill the spikes. Then go around the corner again. You'll see a little platform under another block in the wall. Push the block forward as much as you can and eventually it will fall down a hole. Put on your Iron Boots and go in there with it. Go down the corridor, then take your boots off so you can float to the top. Climb out of the water and you'll be in a room. Kill the Tektite across the way with arrows, then hit the crystal thing in the right corner. A large water column will spout up from the ground. Jump into it and it'll push you up. Jump across and you can go through the door across the room and go into the next room. In this next room, there's a pool of swirling water. Jump in and wait until you're against the right wall and put your Iron Boots on. If you're in the right place, you'll land on a sort of pipe thing. Aim your hookshot at the crystal thing in the stone dragon's mouth. Then look at the opening in the wall- there's a target. Shoot, then look to the right, being aware of the shell blades, and shoot for that target. Then take the Iron Boots off and float up. You'll be in a small room with a treasure chest. Get the key inside then go down to take care of the shell blades. Float back up, hit the crystal thing and go through the gate. Crawl out of the swirling pool and go through the door. Kill the Tekktite and aim your hookshot at the target across the room. Let her rip and pull yourself up, then put your iron boots back on and fall into the water hole, go down the corridor, take out your hookshot, look up at the target and shoot. Now you're in the main area; go to the right and into the door in the large square column in the middle of the room; then turn around and look up. There's a target up there, hookshot up there, and be sure to pull up so you don't fall into the spikes below. On the wall by this platform, you'll see another Triforce plaque! Play Zelda's Lullaby, and the water will indeed rise to the second level. Along with the rising water, a floating platform came. Jump in the water and swim under the platform. Then put your Iron Boots on and sink to the bottom. You'll see that there is an opening that the platform was blocking before. Once on the bottom, go through the corridor until you get to a room; in the room is a crystal. Be careful when you hit the crystal because it will open a gate in the ceiling and many Spikes and Shell Blades will fall down. Back away, then take care of the Spikes first, then take care of the Shell Blades. Once everything's gone, another gate in the ceiling will open. Go under this gate and take the boots off so you can float up. You'll end up in a small room with a treasure chest containing a key. Get the key, then put your boots on and sink down. Go back through the corridor then take the boots off and float back up. Then go through the door into the main room. Go to the right and you'll see an opening in the wall. Don't forget the jars! There are hearts in there! Go through the corridor to the end, then spot the target and hookshot up there. Then look at the ceiling and there are three targets. Shoot to the one farthest from you. There's a crystal, and a column of water blocking a big chest. Get on the right side of the column then shoot an arrow at the crystal. The water column will subside and you can open the chest. Inside is the compass! Now go back into the main area. Jump into moat and put on your boots. Sink to the bottom then go to the place where you found Ruto (remember the torches). Take your boots off and float to the top. There's a crack in the wall, so throw a bomb at it and it'll get blown away. Inside is a treasure chest with a key; get the key and go back to the main area and climb on the square column. Look around for a locked door against the wall. Unlock the door and go on in. Inside is a crystal and a little column of water. Get on the column and shoot the crystal with an arrow from there. You'll be elevated up; watch out for the Tektite! Once the column goes up as far as it will, jump off and go through the door. Now you'll be next to a Triforce plaque! Play Zelda's Lullaby and the water will rise again to the level it was before. Jump off your ledge and swim across the moat. Go left and hookshot to the locked door. Go through this door to a large room. At the end of the hall, there are two keese on the walls, so take care of them. In this room is a large waterfall with moving platforms with targets on the sides. What you do is drop to the platform under you, then down again. This platform moves up and down. Look down and to the right. There's a platform to the side which doesn't move. Jump there then aim your hookshoot for one of the descending platforms. Now just keep hookshoting to higher platforms until you can reach the target at the top. Then unlock the door and go through it. In the next room are several stone dragon heads and an odd crystal. It's red instead of it's usual clear. Hit it and the water in the room will rise, along with the stone dragon heads. In the dragon head in front of you is a target. Shoot for it then hit the crystal again. This will lower the water along with, again, the dragon heads. Hookshot to the target on the wall to the right, then climb over the dragon head. Hit the crystal again then hookshot to the target on the next dragon head. Then hit the crystal, climb on top of the head, and hit the crystal again from on top of the head. This will elevate you to a room in the wall. Take care of the two Tektites then hookshot over the spikes. Then kill the Like Like and go through the door. In this room you appear to be outside, but it's really weird, kinda mystical or something. Walk to the building across the way and you'll see the door is barred. Look back at the tree in the middle and you'll see that there's somethin there... It's Dark Link!! It's you, but darker, obviously. It's like having to fight your evil twin, which is difficult because he has a sword like you, and knows all your moves. But one thing you have that he does- the Megaton Hammer (or the Biggoron Sword if you have it.) Smack him with it and he'll disappear, then reappear behind you! Just smack him a buncha times and he'll die. He'll give off a few rupees then the door will get unbarred. As you walk towards the door, the outdoor appearance fades away and you'll see that you've only been in a large room the whole time! Go through the door and you'll be in a room with a big chest. Open the chest and inside you'll find a Longshot! It's like a hookshot but longer! Ever find somethings you just can't reach with your hookshot? Well, here ya go! Now look behind the chest and you'll see a Block of Time in the ground. Stand beside it and play the Song of Time. The block will get transported away leaving a hole. Jump down and you'll be in a room with several whirlpools that you do NOT want get sucked into. If you're begining to get sucked into one, put your Iron Boots on and get to a safe distance then take them off. Other than that, just swim past the whirlpools. After awhile, look on the wall and you'll see a gold eye switch. Climb on a ledge and shoot the eye with an arrow. It'll open the gate. Go in and open the treasure chest. Inside is a key; get the key and go right. Then you'll see that you're in the room with the swirling water! Go back out to the main area. Put on your Iron Boots and sink down to the bottom. Go to the room you found Ruto, take off the boots, float to the top and lower the water level. Then go to the main area and go into the square tower. Longshot to the Triforce plaque and raise the water level. Then go back into the main area. Look around and you'll see a gold eye underwater. Shoot it with an arrow and a gate will open. Quickly take your longshot and shoot it at the target in the gate. Go down the corridor until you get to a large block. Push it as far as it will go. Go right first and you'll find a treasure chest. Get the key inside, then go down the left hallway. When you get to the end, take your longshot out and aim for the target above. Once you're up, go through the corridor, and you'll be in the main area again. Put your iron boots on and sink to the bottom. Find the entrance to the room where you found Ruto, then go into the room to the left of that. Walk down the hallway then take out your longshot and aim for the target on the wall. Once there, look across the way and there's a locked door with a target above the door. Longshot over there, take your iron boots off, and go in the door. In the next room is a large pool with six Tektites floating on top. Large boulders fall into the pool, then fall into the two whirlpools which are also in the water. Oyee. Kill the Tektites however you want. Get over to the other side then go through the door. In this room, there are several gliders (Stingers), like those in Lord Jabu-Jabu. Kill them from your little ledge with your longshot. Then hop down and notice that there are two walls that can be blown away; go ahead and blow them away. Inside is a block; push and pull how you need so that the block falls on the switch in the water. When the switch it squished down, it makes the water rise. Then you'll see that there are steps leading to a door, go up there and through the door. In the next room are more water columns that you have to jump on to get to the other side. To activate the columns, press the switch in the corner; watch out for the Tektites on the other side! Go through the door and forward. You'll see a little stream with boulders rolling down it. (This is how the boulders get into that big room.) Wait until after a boulder goes, then put on your iron boots, hop in the stream, and go the opposite way the boulder was rolling. You'll fall into a hole; go down the corridor and kill the Shell Blade at the end. Take your boats off and float to the top. At the top is a locked door. Unlock it and go to the next room. In the room is the Boss Chest! Open it to get the Boss Key!! Go back into the big room, then the main room. Find the doorway that leads to the room where you can raise the water again, and raise the water again. >:) Walk around until you find the dragon head with a target. Longshot over there and open the door. Inside there are three spikey blades on a steep incline. Climb up there. It may take awhile to find a good strategdy to get up there, but it'll happen eventually. Once up, unlock the big door with the Boss Key and go into the boss' lair...

In this room, you'll see a pool, with a few large pillars sticking up from the pool. Also, notice the targets on the wall, and also some spikes jutting out from the wall. Go forward a bit and Navi will tell you that the water in the pool isn't normal. Go forward some more and jump on one of the pillars. Then you'll see from the creature's point of view. It'll be swimming around under water then spot Navi, then it'll be right in your face! It's Morpha! It looks like a gel-like substance with a little ball floating around inside. Your target is the ball, it's like the nucleus of Morpha. When it gets in the water, it'll start spinning around, this will make the gel-like finger. Then the nucleus will float up the finger, this is when you longshot it. It'll come towards you, then you start beating the heck out of it with your sword. It'll jump back in the water and do the same thing. But don't get too close to the finger or else it'll grab you, squeeze you, and throw you, and when it throws you, you'll probably end up in the spikes. After while, the nucleus will start making two fingers! And the second one is usually right behind you! So here's what I do. Just stay in the corners where there no spikes. Just back yourself up against the wall. That way, you can still longshot the nucleus, you can see both ways and still Z-target, and if the fingers try to grab you, they can't reach you. (Also, using the Biggoron Sword gets it done reeeeeeeal quick. After you hit the nucleus a bunch of times, it'll start flying around then explode, then one of the fingers will reach to the ceiling, start sucking all the water out of the pool, then eventually die. Don't forget your heart, which is hiding somewhere around the columns, and go into the light.

You'll be transported back to the Chamber of Sages and Ruto will appear before you. She'll tell you that Zora's Domain will eventually unfreeze and everything will go back normal there. She'll also reassure you that Princess Zelda is alive and well; then she'll give you the Water Medallion!

After that, you'll see a view of the lake; it's filling back up! As Sheik watches over it, you'll be transported to the medallion platform. He'll talk awhile, then disappear... >:) Anyway, once he's gone, quickly go stand on the platform that says, "When water fills the lake, shoot for the morning light." Take out your bow and arrow and shoot directly at the sun. Then from the sky will fall a special kind of arrows. Swim over to it and pick it up. It's Fire Arrows! When you shoot with these, it'll catch what you hit on fire. Hm... these should come in handy. But be careful, they take away some from your magic meter. Well, well! This said and done, you're on your way to get the next medallion!!

Onto getting the Shadow Medallion
