HOME NEWS COMMITEE CONTACT US PICTURES

The latest:

November 17th, 2002- Apologies for such a long wait. Several of you have e-mailed regarding reunion pictures being posted. I promise to have something as soon as possible. With the holidays practically here, homelife tends to become a bit more hectic, leaving me with slightly less time to focus on updating the website as often as I should. Quite a few pictures have been received thus far and if you have anything you'd like posted, please send it to us. We'll try to get something put together real soon.

October 9th, 2002- "Reunion Weekend" has come and gone. Everything went off without a hitch, and yes, we recovered the time capsule! Overall, the entire weekend looked to have exceeded everyone's expectations. We would like to thank all of you that attended, as well as those who weren't able to attend, but still took the time to send us updated contact info, or even just sent everyone their best wishes. This entire event could not have taken place without you!

As for the time capsule, it took 3 days and almost 7 hours of digging, but on Sunday, October 6th, around 2:30 pm, David Kenny , with his post-hole digger, "struck gold". We feared the worst, as the capsule's contents had become quite water-logged over the past 20 years, however most everything looks to be intact and the losses look to be minimal. The contents are currently being cleaned, dried, and organized, and we hope to have pictures up very soon!
A special thanks to David Kenny, Eric Wray, Karen DenBleyker, and Mary Beth Davis for their 3 days of concentrated efforts. Also, thanks to Julia Krause Elliott, Mark Lew, Mike Adrion, Louis Davis, and Trisha Boyd Jones for their efforts as well. If we've forgotten anyone, we're sorry, and please let us know.

As for pictures, if you took pictures at any of the events (Ale House, picnic, time capsule digging, reunion) and would like them posted on the website, get them to us, e-mail, snail mail, whatever. We will post them! Don't worry if you think your picture may be too big, we will resize the images prior to being posted.

October 8th, 2002- We have received some information that we thought you should be aware of. A former classmate, Karen Rzasa Mescall, passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 5th. The funeral is Wednesday, October 9th at St. Andrews Catholic Church.

October 1st, 2002- We're only days away! Several of you have asked where North Cary Park is (1100 Norwell Avenue). Here are some directions to the park you may find helpful. To make things easier, we've used Cary High School as a "starting point".

From Cary High School :

1: Start out going East on WALNUT ST towards CARY TOWNE BLVD by turning right. 0.02 miles
2: Stay straight to go onto CARY TOWNE BLVD. 0.16 miles
3: Turn LEFT onto SE MAYNARD RD. 1.83 miles
4: Turn RIGHT onto REEDY CREEK RD. 1.16 miles
5: Turn RIGHT onto N HARRISON AVE. 0.23 miles
6: Turn LEFT onto NW CARY PKWY. 1.01 miles
7: Turn RIGHT onto NORWELL BLVD. 0.01 miles

Generic directions from other areas of Cary :
1.From the East: Take Maynard Road loop to Harrison Avenue. Turn right and go northward to Cary Parkway. Head west on Cary Parkway and take a right onto Norwell Boulevard.
2.From the West: Take Cary Parkway north and east. Take a left onto Norwell Boulevard.
3.From the North: Take Harrison Avenue and turn onto Cary Parkway, then right onto Norwell Boulevard.
4.From the South: Take Old Apex Road, Chatham Street or Kildaire Farm Road into downtown Cary. Head north on Harrison Avenue. Take a left onto Cary Parkway, then right onto Norwell Boulevard.

I will TRY and squeeze in another update before the fun begins Friday night (Imps football, anyone?). Speaking of Friday, we're planning on digging up the time capsule that afternoon, sometime between 4pm and before the football game starts that night. Also, many have asked about pictures being taken. We do not have an actual "photographer" lined up at this point. You're all encouraged to bring cameras, digitals, camcorders, whatever. I would love to be able to gather enough images to post here on the website.

September, 2002- Seeing as how this may be the last update before the reunion, there are a few points we need to make:
As far as payment, if you do plan on attending, we please ask that you send in your payment as soon as possible! While some of you may plan on paying "at the door", please consider that approximate head counts are still needed, and deposits have to be made, which is what most of the ticket money is going to at this point.

Secondly, regarding the pre-reunion picnic, please note that the picnic is being held at North Cary Park, NOT Bond Park, as has been the case in the past. We've had a few of you e-mail us about the picnic's location assuming it was at Bond Park, so we thought we'd post that clarification here.

Lastly, we've included yet another page, "ATTENDEES", a list of those who are confirmed as attending the reunion. Several people have asked about if certain people were or were not attending. Hopefully, this page will answer that question. The page will be updated as more responses are received.

August 8, 2002- Due to numerous invitations being returned to us as "undeliverable", we're putting up a new page, a "Missing In Action" page. Listed will be anyone who we have either outdated contact info, or no info at all. Please take a look to see if there's anyone whose info you may have. If so, we please ask that you forward that information to us.

August,2002- Reunion invitations and registration forms were mailed out late last week, so check your mailboxes. Sadly, quite a few invitations have come back as undeliverable, due mainly to people who have moved and not sent in current contact information. If this may apply to you, PLEASE e-mail us your current mailing address and/or phone numbers.

July, 2002- I've just tried to visit the message board, only to get one of those annoying "this site cannot be displayed" pages. I'm assuming that the site was down for some type of maintenance. I'll keep looking into it.
Also, just to review some important facts regarding the 20th year reunion, we would like for as many of us as possible to meet on October 4th to attend a Cary Imps football game, followed by a gathering at a local restaurant (possibly Carolina Ale House). On October 5th, Danny's BBQ will cater a family picnic from 11am until 2 pm at North Cary Park. The actual reunion will take place later that night at Embassy Suites, Carolina Ballroom , from 7:30pm until midnight. We will be mailing out registration forms which will include meeting times and confirmed prices for both the picnic and the reunion.

June, 2002-This "official" website is "officially" up! No, it's nothing fancy, frankly, I feel that it's a bit of a rush-job (apologies for the annoying banner up top , some things just can't be avoided). This site will always be a work in progress, and by all means, e-mail me with any of your ideas and comments.
Also, we're going to try and maintain a message board. That also is an "experiment" of sorts. I'm still tinkering with it, trying to work out all of the bugs and whatnot. To visit it (hopefully these links work !) , go to www.xsorbit.com. From what I can tell, you'll need to register and get a password to post messages. If it seems to be too much trouble to deal with, let me know and we'll try something else.

May 15, 2002- Another meeting with the reunion commitee has come and gone. The main topics of conversation centered around menu choices, which at this point, still have to be approved by the Embassy Suites execs. The other main point of intrest was trying to get together an updated list of everybody (addresses, phone numbers, e-mails, etc.) . With information gathered from Classmates.com , as well as data supplied by Mary Margaret Mayher from the last reunion, Mary Beth Davis has done a remarkable job updating everyone's contact information. There is still much more to be done, so if there is any type of contact info that you would like changed, e-mail Mary Beth (refer to the "contact" link above).

April, 2002- The 20th year reunion is a go! After countless bouts of phone-tag and contract "negotiations", we've finally been able to secure a place and a date (although everything is still somewhat tentative).
The fun begins on October 4th, when everyone will meet and head out to an exciting night of Cary Imps football. The game will be followed by a gathering at a site that has yet to be determined, but presently looks to be at the new Carolina Ale House.
The festivities continue on October 5th with an early afternoon picnic catered by Danny's BBQ, at a site that has yet to be finalized. We'll post the location on this page as soon as things are confirmed. The actual reunion will then take place that night at the spacious Embassy Suites (201 Harrison Oaks Blvd), more specifically at the Carolina Ballroom. Start time looks to be 7:30pm. Again, once more details are finalized, they'll be posted here.
