1- Mobile Support Unit(air refill/rehab)
1-Haz-Mat Unit

1-Water Rescue Unit

Firefighting Force

The Members of the fire fighting force have the following titles and are ranked in the following descending order:

Battalion Chief
Fire Captain
Fire Technician (Driver)
Firefighter

The fire fighting force is organized into battalions, fire districts and fire companies.
There are 3 Battalions and 15 fire districts. Each battalion is under the command of a Battalion Chief.



The fire companies are classified as follows:

Engine Company
Ladder Company
Squad Company

All companies are under the command of a Fire Captain and are divided into three working groups(shifts).

Staffing on all companies—except for the Squad Companies — is one Captain, one Fire Technician and two fire fighters per shift. The Squad Companies are staffed with one Fire Technician and one firefighter per shift.

The Durham Fire Department works a 56-hour week schedule. The work schedule (tour of duty) is as follows: Five days on (every other day) and six days off.
Shifts are for 24 hours
Shift - 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.
