Chapter One -- Undercover
WASHINGTON D.C.
Lori arrives at her office at 8:03 am. She has no idea when she'll be going home the next time. This job is a tough one, no certain time schedule, but this is her dream. But... there's one disadvantage. This job leaves her no time for a relationship. From her experience, relationship within the office didn't seem to work out either. Too many conflicts regarding their jobs.
"Agent Fraser, the meeting will start in 10 mintues."
"Okay... thanks Dana!" Lori said. Dana is the secretary of Assistant Director William Mulder.
Lori enters the meeting room. Dana gives her the files.
"We are just assigned to this, Agent Crane and Agent Fraser." Mulder said. "This is a very serious crime going on in the music/movie industry. There have been bomb threats and celebrities injuries with no motives at all. Originally, these are cases of the local PD, but it has become more serious and this the Bureau takes over."
"So... we believed it would be related to officials working around the celebrities?" Lori asked.
"Yes... here's the suspect." Mulder puts a transparency on the overhead projector. It is a picture of a middle age man, at around age 30.
Mulder continued. "He's is known as Ryan Johnson, age 29. We believed this is not his true name. He might have mental health records in his true identity. He has been working with celebrities for the past 4 years, he usually work as their assistant managers, or somehow involved with them. But here's the suspicious thing, he always quit his job no long after the celebrities got hurt, also, there's nothing found about him before that 4 years he's working for the celebs."
"Who is he currently working for?" Ethen Crane asked. He is Lori's partner.
"The Backstreet Boys, Ryan is their current manager." Mulder said.
"Okay... Lori... quite a suitable job for you... I mean that's their music is the only ones that get you to pay attention to other than your work..." Ethen said.
"That's excellent Lori." Mulder said. "Because YOU will be going undercover."
"You're not telling me to go dancing and singing, aren't you Mulder?" Lori asked.
"Nah... don't worry... they're hiring for an assistant manager. We've already make arrangements with the Firm Manangement and Jive Records. You will become the new assistant manager for the Backstreet Boys." Mulder said.
"Here Lori... your new identification." Ethen hands Lori another file. "Your name is Lori Bryant. You've a Business Manager Ph.D graduate from Stanford University."
"Okay... how do I keep in touch with you guys?" Lori asked.
"Ethen will be with you, as your brother, Ethen Bryant, he will be working in the tech crew." Mulder said.
"We'll be flying down to Orlando next Friday." Ethen said.
ORLANDO -- JIVE RECORDS BUILDING -- 11:08 AM
Lori and Ethen enter the chairman's room.
"Hello! Welcome the to Jive Records." Mr. Stevenson, Jive Record's Chairman said.
"Hi Mr. Stevenson. I'm Agent Fraser with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. This is my partner Agent Crane."
Ethen shakes hands with Mr. Stevenson. "Nice to meet you Mr. Stevenson."
"We wish to co-operate with the FBI as much as we could. We wouldn't want to put our fellow artists in danger." Stevenson said.
"Thank you very much. And we guaranteed the safety of the Backstreet Boys." Lori said.
"Miss Fraser, I mean MISS BRYANT and MR BRYANT, please come with me." Stevenson led them out of the room.
