5 seconds of silence passes by...
Nick slowly opens his eyes. He sees the man in front of him, bleeding on the chest, dropping to the ground. He sees another person behind that man. It is Lori. She is holding onto her gun, standing still. Lori shot the man down right before he was going to kill Nick. She saves his life.
Lori runs up to Nick. "Are you okay? oh my god, you're bleeding... come on, come with me. Follow me to the car." Lori looks really worry, Nick has never seen her that worry before.
"How about the other guy?"
"Kevin had taken him down. Don't worry about that, will ya?" She hurrys and brings Nick to the car. Nick is following Lori, neither of them say a word. Lori carefully sits Nick down in the car and takes out the first aid kit. She takes out bandages and starts wrapping them around Nick's arm.
Nick is staring at Lori with her head down, and suddenly he hears someone sniffs. Then, he sees water droplets landing on the bandages on his arm. He realised that they are not water droplets, they are Lori's teardrops. Nick slowly holds Lori's head up, she is crying.
"What's wrong girl?"
"It's was so scary just now. I'm scared, Nick, I really am. I'm so worried about you." Lori starts to cry harder.
"Hey Lori, I'm okay. See, I really am." He has not feel this way for two years. Nick has a warm feeling as he sees Lori crying for him, caring for him. Nick really wants to hold Lori in his arm. And he did. He slowly move towards Lori and holds her tightly in his arms. Lori lays her head on Nick's shoulder. She has never been that worry about a guy before. She feels safe in Nick's arm.
After Kevin and the others settle down the 15 injured men, all of them walk towards the car to see whether Nick is okay or not. Especially Mandy, she is so worry about him. For the next couple of seconds, they just stand still. They see Nick and Lori in the car, Nick holding onto Lori tightly. Only Mandy wants to walk up to them and take Lori out from Nick's arm. Brian goes up to her.
"Leave them alone, Mandy."
"But... they're... god!" Mandy burst out in tears and runs away.
~ In the car ~
After about 5 minutes, Lori calms herself down and slowly move away from Nick. Nick puts his hand on Lori's face, wiping her tears away.
"Don't cry, Lori, don't cry..." Lori nods her head as she is looking right into Nick's eyes.
They get out from the car and headed to the others.
"Nick, are you okay?" Brian asked his best buddy.
"Yea... Brian, I'm okay. Thanks for Lori, or else I won't be standing here anymore."
"Lori, good job. Why don't the two of you go home and take a rest. We'll take care of the other stuff." O'Keefe said.
Lori drives Nick home. Neither of them talk on the way.
"Okay Nick... hmm... you take care... bye!"
"Thanks Lori... and I'll see ya tomorrow!"
Nick closes the front door after he sees Lori departing with her PASSAT.
"Nick, oh my god, what happen son?" Mrs. Carter asid as she looks her son, worrying about him.
"Oh... I'm okay mom. It's just a scratch. Thanks to Lori, she saved me."
"Lori? You mean the girl who drives you home last time?"
"Yea..."
"Nick, just a word from my heart, she's a nice and sweet girl, son. You know what I mean?"
"I'll go take a shower!" Nick walks upstairs, thinking over his mom's words.
~ In Nick's Room ~
Nick lie on his bed, staring at the bandages on his arm. He remembers the way Lori looks, with tears and worries in her eyes. He still remembers the way he felt when he held her in his arms. It felt so warm and wonderful.
~ In Lori's Room ~
Lori still felt the way Nick held her in his arm. She has never feel this way before. None of the guys she knows give her this kind of special feeling.
