~ LAPD suspects questioning session -- 7:15 am ~
Nick and Lori enter the room as they're putting up their identity badges.
"How was it Kev?" Nick asked.
"He said he wants to talk to you Nick." Kevin said, looking really tired.
"Kev, go home and rest. We'll take care of him!"
Nick then turns his face to the suspects. He looks at his bandaged arm and stared at the guy who shot him, who was injured on the chest.
"Nice shot..."
The major criminal stands up, moves his head towards Nick's badge and says, "So you're Detective Nick Carter... I guess I have something you want to know... about your EX-GIRLFRIEND Joyce Thomson."
Nick looks at him while Lori is observing Nick's reaction.
"What about her, huh?"
"Hey... you are curious aren't you?" The two laughs.
"Hey... I'm telling you guys, just tell us what you know and stop playing around!" Lori said.
"Detective Carter, your ex-girlfriend sure is a hottie!!! Just to tell you this... she is my boss' girlfriend now! I guess you know what I mean by that, right? And by the way, one other thing, she sure is better than this bitch right here!"
"You bastards! What did you say?" Nick wants to get those guys but Lori stopped him.
"Nick, calm down, don't let them get you!" Lori whispers.
Nathan comes in, holding a file. "Sorry guys, mind stepping out for a sec?"
As they go out, Nathan shows Nick and Lori the file.
"After further investigation, there's enough evidence proving Joyce is... I mean Joyce Thomson is involved. The next thing is to... hmm... we gotta arrest her."
During lunch time, Lori drives to the central park. She sits on the bench she and Nick sat on last time. Looking at the fountain, Lori thinks to herself. She really wants to know if Nick still likes Joyce or not. She doesn't expect to get anything back from Nick, all she wants is to help him out, even if he still likes Joyce.
On the other hand, Nick is in the office, reviewing Joyce's case. In the past two years, he's not sure whether he still likes Joyce or not. But now, he has the answer...
~ Ten days later -- on 10th Ave. -- 12:15 pm ~
Everyone stays in their group cars, ready to take Joyce down. Lori is sitting next to Nick. She looks so tired. No one has enough sleep these three days, but especially Lori, she can't sleep even she got the chance to go home. She just keeps on thinking about Nick and Joyce.
Joyce walked out from the car furtively. Just as she hands those drugs to the other drug dealer, Nick shouts out.
"LAPD! Freeze!"
"Nick?... I..."
Nick takes his hand cuff and locks Joyce's hands up. "Miss Thomson, you're under arrest, we suspects that you're involve in several serious drug trading, please follow us."
~ LAPD Headquarter -- 3:00 pm ~
"Everybody, well done! Joyce Thomson has admitted guilty in every cases. Especially Nick, good job!" O'Keefe tabs Nick's shoulder. "But as Joyce Thomson said, her so-called boyfriend is not the boss, there is still someone behind in charge of the whole thing. But anyways, tomorrow is the annual Christmas night, you guys have fun... and just an 'offical' reminder, it starts at 10:30 and we eat after midnight with all those performances that you guys have prepared for."
"Thanks Sir!"
~ Lori's Room -- 10:15 pm ~
Lori has bought a cream-color dress for tomorrow's party. She put her dress on her bed. Staring at it quietly while her cell phone rings.
"Hello?"
<Lori... it's Nick>
"Oh... hey..."
<Well, you have a day-off tomorrow right? But then I gotta follow up the case tomorrow, so how would you like to get there?>
"hmm... Nick, how bout this... since the headquarter is closer to the hotel, I think it will be more convenient for you to get there after work. I guess I'll get there by myself and I'll meet you inside."
<You sure this is okay?>
"Yes..."
<Lori, you sound so depress...>
"No, I'm okay..."
<Okay then, but if you want someone to talk to, just call me okay? I'll see you tomorrow then, nite Lori. I promise I'll be there tomorrow night.>
"Nite Nick."
