Brianna’s flight home was one of silence and remorse. She knew she probably should have at least said goodbye. But she knew she couldn’t do it without crying and that was the last thing she wanted to Nick to see. So, instead she left him a brief note expressing her apologies and wishing him luck and happiness for the rest of the tour. She wasn’t saying goodbye forever, but they both obviously needed some serious time apart to deal with what was wrong between them. Her heart was breaking and she didn’t know what to do about it. Once she got home she spent all that day and the next locked in her apartment. She didn’t watch TV. She didn’t go out. She didn’t call anyone. She had hoped Nick would call, but her phone never rang. He was the only one who knew she was home and he never bothered to call. So instead she spent three complete days in total silence. There were no more tears, she was all cried out.
Finally, she could take no more. She needed to get out and have some fun. So, on her fourth day home she called Mitchell to let him know she was home.
“Are you free tonight?” She asked.
“Am I free? For you, I’ll make myself free.”
She laughed at his joke. “Good, I really need to have some fun.”
“What’s the matter?”
“Ahhh, nothing really. Nothing that I want to talk about anyway. Can we just go have some fun?”
“Sure, anything you want. Do you want to go out or stay in?”
“Out, definitely go out.”
“Then out it is. I’ll be by to get you around 8 o’clock. Be ready and be sexy.” He laughed.
“Absolutely. 8 o’clock on the dot.”
“That’s my good girl.”
Brianna hung up the phone with a smile on her face. She really needed to get out. She needed to get Nick as far from her mind as possible. She showered and dressed in one of the outfits Mitchell had bought for her. It was a red dress that had cutouts above her breasts, along the back and waist, and stopped several inches above her knees. Fixing her hair and makeup the way he liked it she was ready and standing by the door a few minutes before 8.
When she heard Mitchell knock on the door she promptly opened it ready to leave.
“Hi there. Wow! You look great.” He greeted her.
“Thanks. You don’t look too bad yourself.”
“Can I come in for a minute?” He asked.
Brianna was surprised. He had never asked to come in before. Glancing over her shoulder to make sure that the room was clean she faced him and opened the door to let him in. They went and sat on the couch. It was a good full minute before either one of them spoke. Mitchell was the first to break the silence.
I’m sorry that your trip didn’t go as well as you wanted. I know you were looking forward to seeing your friend.”
“Thanks, but I’m sure everything will be okay, eventually.”
“Well, I wasn’t sure how you were gonna feel, so I brought something special for you.”
“Special? That is so sweet. What is it?” Brianna felt that he didn’t have to do all these nice things for her, but it made her feel good when he did.
“It’s nothing really. Just something I thought you might like to try before we go out. It might make the night more enjoyable.”
“Try? What did you bring?” She was curious. She thought maybe it was Ecstasy, but she had done that before. Maybe, she thought, he didn’t know.
“Well, it is this.” He reached inside his pant pocket and pulled out a little baggie with white powder in it.
“Is that…” She didn’t finish the question.
“Cocaine? Yes. It’s just a suggestion, but I think you’ll like it if you just give it a chance.” He was already opening the bag up and poured a little out on the glass top of the coffee table.
“Well, I don’t know.”
“Really it’s okay. I’ve done it before. It’s not gonna hurt you. Trust me. I wouldn’t give you anything bad.”
She wanted to believe him. She wanted to relax and have a good time. She did enjoy Ecstasy and the Crosses. So, maybe this wasn’t all that bad. “Sure, why not.”
Mitchell used a credit card to separate the little pile into several straight lines. He did one line first and then let Brianna go. He nose burned from the first line and caused her eyes to water.
“That is normal sweetheart. It’ll pass. Here, it’s best to go ahead and do another and get the burning out of the way all at one time.” So, trusting him she did a second line. Brianna couldn’t believe how fast the drug took effect. Nothing she had ever taken before gave her such a feeling. Sitting back she just enjoyed the sensation for a few minutes. Then she heard his voice, “Come on sweetheart, let’s hit the clubs and show them all how it’s done.”
“But you don’t dance.” She added following him to the door.
Stopping at the door he put his arms around her waist and raised his eyebrows, “I know. But I love to watch you cause you do it so well.” She simply laughed pushing him off and then walked out the door to his BMW.
