~~NORTHWESTERN NORTH DAKOTA~~

As you will see, the western part
of North Dakota is sparsely populated
because of the "badlands."
There is still much to be seen
and many places to go, so come on along!

--------------------------------

Before we continue northward,
let's drive over to Bismarck,
and have a look around.

State Capitol Building.

This 19 story building is enhanced by
a unique blend of raw materials including
Indiana limestone, Montana yellowstone,
Belgian marble, Tennessee marble, Honduras mahogany
Indian rosewood, English brown oak, Burma teakwood
and laurel wood! WHEW!!!

State Library.

In Bismarck.

--------------------------------

Now, a well remembered musician,
Lawrence Welk, from Strasburg, N.D.
The music now playing is what
he was famous for, the Polka.

And his old homeplace!

I like this view best!

Here is another!

Lawrence left home on his 21st birthday
in 1924 to pursue his musical career.
On July 2, 1955, he made his debut
on National Television!
The rest is history!

------------------------------

We are now north of the Badlands.

At home.

On the range.

Watch out for this one!

A western Longhorn!

Oh, give me a home...

Where the buffalo roam.

What about this?

Camping out!

This Fort was the principal
fur-trading depot in the upper
Missouri River region from 1829 to 1867.

Remember the Drive In?

Near Williston

Fort Buford Museum

Built in 1866, near the confluence
of the Missouri and Yellowstone rivers.
It became a major supply depot for
military field operations.

Big Gun!

One of the original fixtures
still existing on the site is
this stone powder magazine.

On the river

On the Lewis and Clark Trail

We are coming to the
Lewis and Clark State Park.

Wouldn't it be nice to sleep
in a cabin in the Park tonight?
Does everyone agree?

------------------

Oh, I mustn't forget this!

There are more Sunflowers grown
in North Dakota than in any other State.

----------------------------

The Chevy sure has done a lot
of running about today!
We must treat it extra special!
I think we should give it the works, don't you?

If everyone is ready, just click
on the license plate and we will be
on the road again!
