<music: ‘Run All the Way’ from Slayers>
In the middle of open air near the cruising missiles
a circle of flame appeared, and from that came Ridley, his wings clipping
the flame ring as he sailed through. A sonic boom quickly followed as they
screamed after the missiles.
‘Where the hell are they?’ Ridley asked,
‘I can’t see them, but I can sense them.’
“Shit!” Kirinis grumbled as Ridley banked
upward, “Where the hell are they?!”
“Saturn calling Ice Prince and Dark Demon,”
Alex said into his communicator, “Hey Rich, Darren, you guys tracking me?”
“We read you,” Rich’s voice responded, “we’re
detecting high energy levels in some of the warheads.”
“That Brandon guy is on one of the warheads,”
Heather’s voice said over loud protests from a half asleep Darren, “Scratch
that. He’s IN one of the warheads. Alter course to the following coordinates.”
Several numbers blinked up on Alex’s visor,
and he fed these to Ridley telepathically. The dragon banked left before
flapping his wings, kicking their speed up another notch.
“Hellfire calling Saturn, I’m tracking you
as well. You’ll be coming up on targets in about thirty seconds. Visual
confirmation in five to ten.”
‘I have them in my sights,’ Ridley
said, ‘Do I have permission to blast away?’
“No,” Kirinis, “Alexander said my materia
is on one of those missiles, so whatever you do don’t shoot until I find
Tidis!”
“Chant the summoning spell,” Darren shouted
over the communicator, the sounds of Heather being squashed in the background,
“that’s the only way to do this.”
“Summoning spell?”
‘The incantation to call upon the power
of the esper,’ Alexander said, ‘you called upon Tidis once before.
I know you can do it again.’
<music: ‘I & Myself’ from Slayers TMP GO>
“Mmmmm.... Guardian goddess of the ocean deep,
she who calls forth powers both calm and turbulent, come before us and
grant us your strength.”
A lightly pulsing glow came from one of the
missiles before them, and a moment later a small blue gem sailed through
the air, hovering before Kirinis. She clutched it and held it aloft while
shouting, “Tidis!”
The gem glowed brilliantly as two streams
of water poured from behind Kirinis, twisting together to form a column.
From it came a goddess with milky white skin and sea blue hair, wearing
garments of various shades of blue. A bow formed in her hand, shimmering
all the shades of the sea, gauzy material flowing from the ends.
“That... that’s my esper?” Kirinis asked,
blinking in shock and disbelief.
Tidis drew back her bowstring, an arrow of
silvery water forming, a globe of the same energy type forming around the
arrowhead.
‘May I blast away now?’ Ridley asked
as Tidis prepared her attack.
“Fire away,” Alex said, patting his esper
on the head. Tidis released her arrow, powerful waves of water surrounding
the arrow to form it into a drill of sorts. At the same time Ridley opened
his mouth, a globe of fire forming between his jaws. He reared his head
back before belching forth a ray of super heated flames. The attacks zeroed
in on the missiles, only to strike a barrier of electricity and be dissipated.
“Bloody hell,” Alex grumbled, “are those things
equipped with defensive shields?”
“No, but they’re protected by me,” Brandon
said as he appeared atop one of the missiles. “Only two of you came to
fight me? How shoddy.”
“Oh, shut up,” Kirinis grumbled as Tidis vanished,
“you are such a conceited pain in the ass and now I’ve had it!”
“You have about two minutes to defeat me and
stop the missiles before Balamb becomes nothing but a memory, just like
Trabia Garden three years ago.”
“Then now is the time to call in the pinch
hitters,” Alex said, tapping on his communicator, ‘God I hope they get
this message in time.’
Across the ocean of time and space the communicators
belonging to several people began to ping, beep, or play various pieces
of music. Most of the owners were hanging out together at a local pizza
parlor, having something to eat and discuss why they never got any of the
action.
“What do you think it means?” Jack asked as
he looked at the display, arching an eyebrow at the message.
“I think it means we get to go and whoop some
ass,” Jason replied, “yet it’s been so long since we went into battle.”
“Considering how sick we were the last time
the call came in,” Adderson said, “I’d say it’s about time we got some
action.”
“I’m in full agreement,” Rachel said as she,
Tod, Steve, Rich, and Matt entered the pizza place. She smiled at the group
at the table and said, “You guys ready to return to action?”
“You bet,” Nate said, “Moon Warriors are ready
to kick ass and take names.”
“Two outer warriors also ready for action,”
Tony said as he and Joss stepped inside.
“And several Star Warriors, also ready to
help our friend in need,” Steve said as he took his transformation pen
from his jacket. The others took their transformation items from various
places on their persons and held them aloft, a subspace bubble forming
around them to block them from the view of others.
“Henshin yo!” Rachel shouted, her ring glowing,
“Rainbow Crystal Power!”
“Ice Crystal Power!”
“Flame Crystal Power!”
“Thunder Crystal Power!”
“Light Crystal Power!”
“Ganymede Nova Power!”
“Universe Rebirth Power!”
“Callisto Nova Power!”
“Europa Nova Power!”
“Uranus Star Power!”
“Neptune Star Power!”
“TRANSFORM!”
Several flashes of colored light surrounded
them, bringing forth the warriors hidden within each of them. They joined
hands, rays of colored light surrounding them as auras of their warrior
colors formed around their bodies. In unison they said, “Warrior Teleport,”
a broken place forming in the floor of the pizza place as the eleven teleported
through time and space to lend a hand to their friend.
“Tempest Strike!”
Bolts of lightning sailed past Alex and Kirinis
as Ridley dodged the attack. Several larger bolts crackled by them from
above, forming an effective sort of temporary cage. Alex took Kirinis’
hand and leapt away from Ridley, recalling his esper as he was struck by
the first lightning bolt.
“Damn,” Alex grumbled as the rockets began
to pull away from them, “he’s going to win.”
A blinding flash of light filled the air before
them, and from that came the eleven warriors who received Alex’s call to
battle. Following their appearance eleven of the missiles were destroyed.
“Your reinforcements have arrived,” sounded
in his ear from Heather, “and if they don’t do the job than you have more
in reserve who are awaiting the call to battle.”
“And now looks like the primo time to attack,”
Kirinis said to him, freeing one of her hands from his grasp to point at
Brandon, “you who crosses between sky and earth. Raging water, gather in
my hand and give me power. Demona... CRYSTAL!”
A spray of icy shards and water came from
her hand, piercing the sky and striking the missile which Brandon stood
upon, freezing it solid. The engine failed a moment later, sending it plummeting
to the ground below, where it shattered upon impact. Unfortunately Brandon
managed to leap free in time to avoid being frozen with his ride, landing
on one of the other missiles.
Eleven more missiles exploded, leaving nine,
which continued on their trajectory towards Balamb. The eleven warriors
fell back after that, all flying in formation around Alex.
“What’s the battle plan?” Matt asked as he
unclipped his axe from his back.
“You think I’ve had time to think of one?!”
Alex replied a little harsher than he meant, “I had to save Seifer, which
nearly got me killed. Then that idiot in front of us fired off these missiles,
and that leads us up to now or weren’t you paying attention?!”
“Alex, calm down,” Rich said, “we need cool
heads in order to prevail in this battle.”
“Cool heads...” Kirinis and Rachel said in
unison, thinking on the same wavelength, “cool heads... ice and water spells
and attacks will work to get us victory!”
“One minute until they reach perimeter of
Balamb defenses,” Selphie and Heather said in unison in his ear.
“Screw it,” Alex said, his glaive forming
in his hand. “Screw being careful. Screw being cautious!” he said as the
blade of his glaive began to glow, rings of ice energy forming around it.
He thrust his weapon forward and shouted, “Ice Ring Strike!”
Rich and Tony looked at each other before
Tony fired up the watery blade of his Tidal Blast attack and Rich drew
his ice bow, notching a silver arrow, which glowed as ice energy was charged
into it.
“Tidal Blast!”
“Cold Wildfire Engulf!”
Several blades of sub sonic water and a stream
of subzero flames joined multiple rings of ice in attacking the missiles.
Four more were frozen to the point they flamed out and dropped to the land
below; two more were sliced apart by the watery blades, exploding harmlessly
in the air; Two of the remaining three were engulfed in the icy cold flames
and destroyed when they shattered, leaving the one which Brandon rode upon.
“Guys, that remaining missile has enough nuke
or whatever is in the warhead to destroy Balamb and about half a mile of
country side in every direction,” Jack said, his own computer visor glowing.
“And you won’t catch me,” Brandon said as
the rear part of the rocket came free, lightening the load considerably
and kicking in higher thrust boosters. The warriors spread apart to allow
the debris from the separation to sail past before moving back into formation.
“Crud,” Jason said, “we’ll never catch it
in time.”
“Never say never,” Adderson said, holding
his hands towards the rocket, his palms beginning to glow as he used his
powers. ‘This is when I really wish that Roxy was here with me.’ “Gravitational
Collapse!”
“Space Turbulence!”
A bubble of powerful gravity formed around
the missile, slowing its forward motion by a great deal. Adderson struggled
to slow the momentum without crushing the target, like the attack was designed
to do. Joss added a powerful energy wave attack to the mix, aiming for
Brandon. A lightning bolt leapt from the missile, racing towards the ground.
“Brandon’s getting away,” Kirinis said, indicating
the target point for the energy bolt.
“If I know who that armor works he’ll need
a rest after doing all that he’s done,” Alex replied calmly.
“Guys, the missile,” Adderson said weakly.
“Right,” Steve said as he drew his swords
and charged them with energy. He joined them together at the hilts and
began to spin them, the blades glowing brilliantly. He shouted, “Plasma
Wave!”, a column of super charged energy pouring from the weapon and engulfing
the missile.
“Shooting Star Strike!”
“Halo Laser Slash!”
“Resonance Shatter!”
A hail of fiery stars joined the plasma wave,
as did a glowing blue ring of energy, which split into several rings, all
striking the missile in multiple places. Finally a wave of some sort joined
the other attacks, turning the missile into solid crystal. Jason’s sword
began to vibrate a moment later, shattering the crystallized missile with
high pitched sound waves.
“We did it!” Kirinis cheered as the crystallized
fragments rained down on the land below.
“Balamb calling Saturn,” Rinoa’s relieved
voice said over the radio, “congratulations to you and your friends. You
just saved Balamb Garden.”
“Thanks,” Matt replied, startling Rinoa a
little since she didn’t know how many people were on that radio wavelength.
“So tired,” Adderson mumbled moments before
he began to plummet from the sky. A sweat drop formed on Alex’s head as
he tossed Kirinis onto his back before he dove after his friend, catching
a hold of him by the back of his belt. He quickly wrapped his arms around
Adderson’s waist since he didn’t know how much weight the belt could take.
“C’mon guy, you can’t plummet to your doom
just yet,” Alex muttered as he fought to slow their descent towards the
ground. “And when we get back home you’re going... to have to knock off
some of the between meal snacking.”
“Let him go,” Steve said as he and Rich descended
below them, “We’ll catch him and lower him to the ground.”
“All right,” Alex said as he descended a little
lower to settle Adderson onto the backs of the other two. He then turned
his head toward the others and motioned them to land. “We still have to
find and defeat Brandon. The sooner, the better for us all.”
Deep in the forest near Balamb Garden someone
clad in dark armor stumbled along, huffing and puffing from exhaustion.
He carried with him a large glaive, ornately decorated with glowing runes,
and the armor was also covered in these runes. Electricity sparked about
him as he ran, occasionally arcing about him.
“Damn, where are they?” he asked nobody in
particular. He looked around frantically, trying to see his enemy in the
shadows. “Where are you, you bastard!?!”
As he stumbled into a clearing a small fireball
descended into the center, touching down and detonating, flickering light
upon several figures who stood in the shadows.
“Not again,” he said, swinging the glaive
about, the blade glowing. “Tempest Strike!”
Multiple bolts of lightning cracked forth
from the glaive, striking an energy wall and dissipating, the electricity
harmlessly channeled into the ground. Cherry blossoms floated through the
air as a violin began to play.
<music: Uranus and Neptune introduction>

Warrior Uranus.”
“From the planet of the sea, a soldier of
affinity, Warrior Neptune.”
“From the planet of death and rebirth, a soldier
of light, Warrior Saturn.”
“Summoned by the tides of change, an angel
who runs freely.”
“Shaping destiny in stone, Warrior Europa.”
“Viewing destiny in a wave of crystal, Warrior
Callisto.”
“Bringing about destiny in a wave of fire,
Warrior Ganymede.”
<music: Starlights Introduction>
“From the stars and the beginning of time, a soldier
of life, Warrior Universe.”
“Bringing about justice in the flames of hell,
Warrior Hellfire.”
“Justice coming in a flash of blinding light,
Warrior FireStar.”
“A soldier of love and justice arriving in
a colorful manner, Warrior Nova.”
“Thunder brings about lightning and in this
case a soldier of justice, Warrior Thunderbolt.”
“Bringing about punishment in an icy snap,
Warrior Arctic Chill.”
As each person spoke their introduction they
stepped from the shadows, all drawing their weapons and striking dramatic
poses. Brandon looked at al of them in horror, since he was sure he was
about to lose to a force he knew nothing about. As a last resort he dug
the larger blade of the glaive in his possession into the ground, charging
all of the electricity he could summon through it into the blade.
“Holy crap,” Jack said when his visor picked
up the energy level of the attack, “he’s going to wind up nuking us all!”
“Reverse your transformations now or I discharge
this and kill us all,” Brandon said, his eyes filled with a mix of malice
and insanity. “Also throw down your weapons and power items when you finish.”
“I think we should do as he says,” Rich said
as he took a reading with his palmtop. He closed it and put it back in
his pocket before adding, “Jack’s right. He’s got enough electricity there
to kill us all.”
“So we just give up?” Matt said as he threw
down his axe and returned to his mortal form, tossing down his transformation
pen as well.
“I guess so,” Rachel said, tossing down her
chakram before she also reversed her transformation. Once completed she
slipped off her ring and tossed it onto her weapon.
‘Don’t let him win,’ was spoken in
Kirinis’ mind by a cheery female voice.
‘Tidis?’ Kirinis sent back in surprise,
trying to keep the shock from registering on her face.
‘That’s me. You and Alex can’t let him
get away with this.’
Kirinis watched as, one by one, Joss, Tony,
Adderson, Nate, Jason, and Rich threw down their weapons and reversed their
transformations. ‘I’m not going to let him gain more power than he already
has,’ she thought with determination, “Guardian goddess of the ocean
deep, she who calls forth powers both calm and turbulent. Come before us
and grant us your strength. TIDIS!”
By now it was down to just Alex who needed
to reverse his transformation, and he did so, his glaive shrinking back
into the silver crystal. Streams of water poured past Kirinis, congealing
into one column, from which came the blue haired goddess of the sea.
“So the traitor calls forth her little friend,”
Brandon growled, several bolts of electricity striking around Tidis. He
cackled maniacally as he sent a larger bolt of lightning across the ground
directly at Tidis. There was a blur of motion as Steve leapt into the path
of the bolt, taking the blow and absorbing the energy into his body.
“What in the world?!” Kirinis exclaimed as
she watched the heroic act. When the attack ended Steve’s hair was smoking,
small electrical arcs occurring in a couple of places in his hair, his
clothes smoking as well from the blast.
“No goddess is getting whacked today!” Steve
growled as he released the accumulated energy as a dark thunderbolt that
struck Brandon, knocking him from his feet and the glaive from his hand.
“Gravity flip!” Adderson shouted, snapping
his fingers. A bubble formed around Brandon, floating him a few feet from
the ground and immobilizing him.
“Relinquish your control of the star crystal,”
Alex said as he formed ghostly boxing globes around his fists.
“What if I don’t?” Brandon asked, his bracers
glowing as he charged energy into them.
“Then we do this the hard way,” Matt said,
an aura of fiery red forming around his body, the glow brightest around
his hands.
“Bring it on,” Brandon said as he flipped
free of the gravity bubble. He immediately released the accumulated energy
as his feet hit ground, striking Adderson in the chest with enough force
to throw him several feet away.
“You bloody bastard!” Alex growled as he lunged
at Brandon, the glow around his fists increasing in intensity as he began
to punch and kick at his target.
“Is this all you have?” Brandon asked as Alex
used some of his strongest fighting techniques, which he simply turned
aside like they were nothing. “C’mon, hurt me!”
“If you insist,” Alex snarled as he kicked
into high gear, delivering a devastating twelve hit combo that ended with
a well placed cannon drill kick to Brandon’s midsection. Following the
attack he flipped back to his feet, giving a victory sign.
“That actually hurt,” Brandon said as he sat
up, wiping blood from a gash on his lip, “Now I’ll revisit that pain back
upon you hundred fold!”
As he regained his feet a globe of highly
charged particles struck him in the back and exploded, knocking him forward.
He turned to face Matt, who was summoning the energy for another attack,
and glared. Matt gave him a wicked grin as the energy he was summoning
formed a globe in his hands.
“Eat particle bomb you pain in the ass!” Matt
growled as he hurled the globe at Brandon. The particle bomb was deflected
by one sweep of Brandon’s hand, sailing off into the woods, where it exploded.
Matt arched an eyebrow moments before Brandon decked him into a nearby
tree, which splintered. As his body slid down the tree a smear of blood
was left behind.
“Oh, bloody hell!” Kirinis grumbled as she
ran to assist Matt with a healing spell, “Somebody needs to finish him
quickly!”
“You’ll never defeat me!” Brandon cried triumphantly
as he regained his grasp on the glaive and charged more energy into the
blade.
“Holy winds,” Rich chanted, dropping to a
crouch, his palm pressed to the ground, “wind which sweeps gently across
the land. Let all things be filled by your pure breath...”
“Release the light from the dark, deliver
us from the shadows. Unleash the light unto the dark, enlighten those locked
in shadow!”
Two more bolts of lightning crackled through
the air, one striking Rich, the other striking Jack, who stepped in front
of Alex in the nick of time. The two sailed through the air and crashed
to the ground, ceasing to move from the impact.
‘Before anybody else suffers what four
of my friends have gone through just now I must unleash holy power buried
deep within the darkness of time,’ ran through Alex’s mind as he held
his white materia aloft. “ALEXANDER!”
Angel wings unfurled behind him, surrounding
him in glowing feathers. Brandon fired off several lightning bolts which
were absorbed and redirected by the wings. They spread open a moment later,
revealing a large suit of mechanical armor; the holy esper, Alexander.
The wings glowed brilliantly moments before a great wave of holy missiles
struck Brandon, shattering the lightning armor on impact. The accumulated
energy raced through his body, shocking him beyond belief. He keeled over,
his hair smoking, his body also smoking, the bracers he had been wearing
melted to his body.
“I’ll be taking my ring and talismans back
now,” Alex said as he stepped up to Brandon, grabbing hold of his right
hand. He retrieved his star crystal ring, slipping it back onto the middle
finger of his right hand before he took back his talisman bracelets, necklaces,
and his other ring.
“You... you monster,” Brandon moaned as he
rolled over, “I... I have one last trick up my sleeve with which to defeat
you.”
“Just give up,” Jason said as he worked a
healing spell on Jack, “we’re all hurting because of you.”
Brandon’s brass armlets began to glow as he
stood, the sounds of an arcane incantation of summoning filling the air.
He cried out in pain as for the first time he realized that the bracelets
were melded to his skin. Yet he was not about to give in to the pain and
continued to chant the spell.
“Golden lore who floats endlessly upon the
sea of chaos, she who is darkest beyond the blackest pitch, come to my
aid in my hour of need. As my word as thy bond, grant me your strength
and be my savior!”
“He’s mad!” Tod said when he heard the incantation,
“No mere human can summon a force like that!”
“L-sama, the Lord of Nightmares, the source
of all chaos,” Alex gasped, “If he manages to finish that spell we’re going
to get our asses handed to us!”
A magical demon circle formed beneath them,
canceling out their own summonses, sending Alexander and Tidis back into
subspace. A dark wind blew through the air, ruffling hair and rustling
clothes. Great amounts of energy filled the air, giving it a powerful charge
and a slightly metallic taste.
“We need to finish him before he can finish
his summons,” Rachel said as she fought to keep her skirt from riding up
too much.
“The question is how do we do it?” Tony asked
as he fought to stay on his feet, “Most of our big spells won’t work in
this concentration of dark energy.”
“There is one spell that I know is in Alex’s
spell book, since I was with him when he worked up some of the calculations,”
Adderson said as he stumbled towards his friend, “and I also know just
how much of each energy type is required in order to cast the spell.”
“You’re talking about the Goddess Giga Strike,
aren’t you?” Alex asked. Adderson nodded. “Then I guess it’s time to unlock
the power.”
<music: ‘It’s a Monster’ part 3 - Giga Slave>
Alex reached into subspace and drew forth his
no-dachi and the samurai sword he used for the Winged Angel of Death tech.
The blade of the no-dachi vanished, leaving the hilt and hilt guard. Alex
handed the samurai sword to Adderson before they stood back to back, assuming
mirror image stances with the swords pointed towards the sky.
“Time to take him down,” Alex said as a blade
of light formed from the sword hilt, “You ready Adderson?”
“Ready,” Adderson replied as the sword he
held began to glow.
‘If we mess this up we’re history,’
“Glowing golden lord who floats endlessly upon the sea of chaos...”
“Come forth and unite your power with the
shining silver goddess of the stars...”
“An ancient pact between light and dark, chaos
and creation, which must be broken in times like these...”
“I call upon thee and swear my allegiance
to thee! Let the fools who stand before us be destroyed by the powers you
and I possess!”
“Goddess of light and Lord of Nightmares,
come before us and deliver us!”
Alex’s blade of light was quickly engulfed
in darkness as he chanted the spell, dark bolts of energy sparking around
it. Behind him Adderson’s sword glowed a blinding white, waves of pure
energy flowing about it. Above them the two spell types merged together
into a cloud of golden blackness mixed with silvery white here and there.
“Commander Marshall Brandon, now is the time
to choose. Are you going to work for evil or will you repent in the name
of good?” Alex said, trying his hardest to sound like Lina when she fought
Rezo / Shabrinigdo.
“You are fools, for I will crush you,” Brandon
cackled before laughing maniacally.
“Now we’ll see who the fool really is,” Adderson
said as he and Alex set their swords so that the blades were pointing towards
Brandon in preparation of a swipe. “Goddess...”
“Giga...”
“STRIKE!!”
The two swung their swords at Brandon, the
accumulated energy being released in a combined wave of light and dark.
“... LORD OF NIGHTMARES!!” Brandon shouted
at the top of his lungs in an attempt to finish his summoning of L-sama.
‘You are not worthy to summon me,’
was spoken directly into his mind by a female voice, ‘Please drive through.
Good-bye.'
Brandon caught a fleeting glimpse of a golden
haired woman with a silver haired woman seconds before the twin magic technique
struck him, erasing him from the face of the planet. With the spell completed
the two casters dropped to their knees, panting for breath from exhaustion.
“Dude, I’m beat,” Adderson said when he gained
sufficient breath to speak.
“Yeah, the spell takes a lot out of you, but
it’s strong,” Alex replied.
“Allow me to heal you,” Kirinis said as she
crouched next to them. She held her hands towards them, her palms glowing
as she chanted the spell. “Holy wind that sweeps gently across the land,
gently flowing water and shining sun, grant me your eternal power. Soul
Breath.”
A breeze blew up around the two, gently wrapping
around their bodies to restore their strength. When the spell had run its
course the pair rose, sheathing their swords in subspace before regaining
their power up items and other weapons.
By this time those who had gone to the missile
base were pulling into the clearing, their vehicle a tad more beat up than
it had been. At that same moment a large group of students, led by Selphie
and Tenal, burst out of the woods on the other side of the clearing.
“Alex!” Selphie cheered as she pounced onto
him and encircled her arms around his neck. “You saved Balamb!”
“And he rescued us,” Seifer said as he and
Irvine approached.
“You’ve done a lot of good,” Tenal said as
he shook Alex’s hand. Alex raised an eyebrow suspiciously at all of this
attention.
“Is there something happening that I don’t
know about?” he asked, looking at all of his friends from Balamb and the
mass of students, mostly young women, but a few young men here and there.
“You called in a bunch of your friends so
we thought you would be leaving for good after this,” Rinoa said as she
stepped forward.
Alex sighed, a large sweat drop forming on
his head. “Oh boy,” he said under his breath. “I’m not about to leave you
guys for good. I have my friends from my world,” he said, draping one arm
over Adderson’s shoulders, “and then I have my close friends from this
world,” he added, draping his other arm over Irvine’s shoulders.
“So just why did you call in so many people?”
Tenal asked, cocking his head at Alex, “you had all of those field ops
in the area with you.”
“Spur of the moment action when the missiles
were launched,” Kirinis said, answering for Alex, who nodded in agreement.
“And you are?” Squall asked as he joined Rinoa.
“Kirinis MaCall, rank A SeeD of Galbaldia
Garden and former major in the Galbaldian special forces,” she replied,
saluting Squall and Rinoa. She broke salute a moment later before saying,
“May I ask what my chances of transferring here are?”
“I’d say pretty good,” Rinoa said, “from what
I heard of the battle you were quite helpful.”
“You saved my life,” Seifer said.
“Mine as well,” Matt added.
“Mine two times over,” Alex said, “she’s also
a summoner, which would be helpful in the future, since Tidis grants great
healing powers unto the caller and also has a powerful tidal arrow technique.”
Several pings and beeps filled the air at
that moment, and the warriors whom Alex had called to assist him checked
their communicators.
“Dark Demon to anyone in the area of my transmission,”
Darren’s voice said over the comm link, “we’re requesting assistance at
the following coordinates.”
“Well, I guess we need to make the leap back
home now,” Joss said. He turned to Alex and bowed politely to him. “With
your leave, oh wondrous leader.”
“You don’t have to call me that,” Alex said,
blushing lightly, “it’s kind of... well... embarrassing.”
“You take care,” Matt said, patting Alex on
the back, “and I hope you’ll call us more often.”
“I’ll be sure to do that,” Alex replied, “even
if it’s just to chitchat.”
“I’m going to stay here for a little while,”
Adderson said, “I haven’t been able to spend quality time with Alex for
a while.”
“We’ll see you both back on campus,” Jack
said as the ten remaining warriors held their power items aloft. Their
clothing glowed as their transformations took effect, and in unison they
called, “Warrior Teleport!”, a column of light surrounding them and spiriting
them homeward.
“Wow, they’re gone,” Zell said as he examined
the crater left behind by the teleport.
“Yeah, but we’ll see them again,” Kirinis
said, catching what Alex was thinking at that moment. “Isn’t that right
Alex?”
“Yeah,” Alex replied through a yawn. He turned
towards those who had been part of the rescue party and said, “Let’s head
back to Balamb and rest.”
