Choosing a Caterer

Chances are, the most costly item at your wedding will be the meal. You will want to interview several caterers before deciding which one to hire. Take your wedding notebook with you and have questions ready. Remember that if a potential vendor makes you or your fiance uncomfortable, don't hire them. You will need to trust that they will prepare and serve the meal as you requested. The time spent choosing your caterer will save you a great deal of frustration prior to and during your special day.

Caterers usually charge by the person. In the past, it was customary to serve a choice of beef or chicken but today brides are choosing everything from roast duck to lobster pie. The caterer will have a list of pre-priced meals but if you'd like to serve something a little different, they should be able to get a quote to you in a couple of days. If you are set on having a large gathering, you may wan't to serve hors d'oeuvres or a dessert buffet to keep costs down.
