Welcome
to Lianne’s Library
Welcome to my own little piece of cyberspace. In
stumbling upon this site, you might be a little curious about its creator.
I should make it very clear here that I am NOT the Lianne Hanson from
National Public Radio. My parents are a little put out that they were not as
original as they thought. I’ve lived almost all my life in New Hampshire,
the land of the ugliest (so far) state quarter. I am a graduate of Mount Holyoke College, “where the
women are women and the men are guests”.
I spent a year working in Financial Aid and getting sweared at daily
for my trouble before attending Simmons
College, where I earned my Master’s degree. I work as a librarian and
archivist at a small college. This past year was a momentous one for me – I
bought a condo, my little sister got married, but most importantly of all,
I met and am now engaged to a great (but silly) man who reminds me every day
that “life is good”. My hobbies and interests are a bit random, but
they keep me out of trouble. I read lots (especially mystery novels), play
the violin badly, collect model horses, play softball, despair over the
Boston Red Sox and work on my genealogy. Over the next few months (and
years), I’ll also be helping my fiancé as he finishes building his 27-foot
sailboat. Accomplishments: v Survived
two years of commuting to Boston v Only
(so far as I know) American bowler on the University of Sussex’s Women’s
Cricket Team v Can
still diagram a sentence – thanks
Sr. Bernadine! v Awarded
“Best Giggler” in Kindergarten Regrets: v Dating
a sniveling, alcoholic weasel v Not
taking equestrian in college v Not
taking a class taught by the late Joseph Brodsky at Mt. Holyoke v Waiting
ten years to play softball again Free Advice: v Take
responsibility for your actions v Be
nice to secretaries, janitors and librarians – they’re the ones who really
run the world! v Read
the directions before opening up a Yankee Candle “Car Jar” (my nose has never recovered!)
