Tomb of Sin

The specific reference doesn’t matter because it’s pretense is scattered throughout the Bible. It is never easy to hear, or stomach as we try to provide the effort necessary to achieve the level of goodness it takes to get into the kingdom of heaven.

Maybe if people looked at their life’s differently, perhaps if they understood more that life provides the environment for failure, for difficulty, for frustration and for sin. There is nothing we can do, to change that. Everything we do, everywhere we go, temptations threaten to overcome us and find us in sin. We are powerless to refrain from that. That is why we must rely on Jesus for our help and salvation.

In his book, “In the Grip of Grace, Pastor Max Lucado illustrates this salvation in a profound way. We are dead in the sin of life and only One can save us from that, Jesus. Christ cannot stand the thought of us, His children rotting in the cemetery of life. So He comes in and calls us out. We are the corpse and He is the corpse caller. We are the dead, and He the dead raiser. Our task is not to get up but to admit we are dead. The only ones who remain in the grave are the ones who don’t think that they are there……

All of us know the story of Lazaraus, brother of Mary and Martha, and close friend of Jesus. Lazaraus had died and Jesus was summoned to lend His influence to the situation. When He arrived, Jesus asked the stone covering the grave opening be rolled away. Jesus then called out to God, thanking Him for hearing Jesus, so that those around the grave would know God heard Him. I want to stop for a moment here and consider that the wages of sin is death. I want you to consider that your life is being lived in the grave of sin. Now consider that Jesus, instead of calling out to Lazaraus, for him to come out of his tomb of death, He calls your name. He calls you to come from sin’s entombment.

When we understand that we can substitute our name for any of the names in the Bible, we then gain a greater understanding of the intentions God provides for us. There is a really neat link that you can get a sampling of seeing your own name in the Bible. Use link http://personalpromisebible.com/ place your name in the space and click on submit, look for the free sample tab, click it and then on the icon for English for men, or for women, and view how your name is intended in scripture.

When you learn to view yourself as a main character of the Bible, you can easily hear Jesus calling you to come out from your tomb of sin…..
