2017-2018 1. LİG STRUCTURE
The league will be played by 18 clubs - 3 clubs relegated from Süper Lig, 12 clubs remained at 1. Lig and 3 clubs promoted from 2. Lig.
The clubs play each other twice in the league - one at home and one away.
The wins are awarded with 3, the draws with 1, and the losses 0 points and the points are accumulated until the end of the league.
The top point getter becomes the league champion.
Tie-breaker rules for all Professional Leagues:
1 - Points accumulated
2 - Head-to-head points - points gained in the matches tying clubs played each other
3 - Head-to-head goal difference - goal difference in the matches tying clubs played each other (away goals doesn't give any extra advantages)
4 - Head-to-head goals scored for - number of goals scored in the matches tying clubs played each other
5 - Overall goal difference (away goals doesn't give any extra advantages)
6 - Overall goals scored for
7 - Less number of awarded games against
8 - Play-off match(es)
Note: TFF applies the rules 2,3, and 4 at the end of the season
Promotions to Süper Lig:
Top two clubs are promoted directly to Süper Lig of next season.
Next four clubs play knock-out style Promotion Play-Off matches. The winner alse get promoted to Süper Lig.
3rd placed club play 6th placed club and 4th placed club play 5th placed club at semi finals. Semi finals are played in two legs. 3rd and 4th placed clubs play the second leg at home.
Final is played at a neutral venue as one leg knock-out style.
Relegations to 2. Lig:
Bottom three clubs get relegated to 2. Lig.
Relegations from Süper Lig:
Bottom three clubs get relegated to 1. Lig.
Promotions from 2. Lig:
Two group winners of 2. Lig get promoted directly to 1. Lig. Next four clubs in each group play Promotion play-Offs and the winner also gets promoted to 1. Lig.
