HOW TO CALCULATE THE COEFFICIENTS

UEFA ranks the clubs and the member associations each year.

The association rankings determine the number of places allocated to an association (country) in forthcoming UEFA club competition.
The club rankings determine the seeding of each club in all UEFA competition draws.

The rankings are made after several steps.
UEFA awards points to each club first.
The clubs accumulate these points throughout the year and reach to a yearly total at the end.
Each association adds up the totals of the clubs representing them that year.
The totals of all the clubs are then divided by the number of clubs that association have that year. The result is the YEARLY COEFFICIENT of the association.
Last five year's yearly coefficients are added and the associations are ranked according to these five-year coefficient ratios.

The club rankings are also made very similar way. Last five year's totals are added up and the clubs are ranked according to these five year totals.
But, more points are awarded to clubs before doing the club rankings. These points are not used in association rankings.

The additional points awarded to the clubs for the rankings are as follows:
1 - Each team gets two points for a win and one point for a draw (points are halved for matches in the qualifying and play-off rounds).
2 - Clubs that reach the round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals or final of the UEFA Champions League, or the quarter-finals, semi-finals or final of the UEFA Europa League, are awarded an extra point for each round.
3 - In addition, four points are awarded for participation in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League and four points for qualifying for the round of 16.
These points were used for both associaiton and club rankings. The following points are used for the club rankings only.
4 - 20% of five-year association coefficients are added to club points.
5 - at UCL: 0.5 points for First qualifying round elimination and 1 point for Second qualifying round elimination. Since the clubs continue at UEL after they are eliminated at Third Qualifying Round and the Play-Off Round, they are awarded at UEL.
6 - at UEL: 0.25 points for First qualifying round elimination, 0.5 points for Second qualifying round elimination, 1 point for Third qualifying round elimination, and 1.5 for Play-off elimination. Clubs are also guaranteed a minimum of two points if they reach the group stage through qualification rounds.
