UTAH and COLORADO
Eastern Utah (visited 11/02)
Breathtaking rock formations of eastern Utah
These photos were taken in a national park in eastern Utah. We were on our way from southern Colorado to northwestern Colorado when a big snowstorm hit, closing the most direct route to all traffic without chains on their tires. As a result, we had to take a detour through this part of Utah, which was a truly spectacular sight to behold (and no snowstorms here that day).
An amazing landscape
At one point we stopped the bus, got out and walked around in the red clay. It was astonishing how the clay acted as a sonic buffer, making everything very quiet. Nature was so silent, beautiful, and peaceful out there. I'm sure this would be a great place for meditation.
This was the view out of the front window of the bus on my first day ever in Utah - a totally unexpected and nice surprise
A picturesque small town at the foot of the mountains - we stopped here for a food break

Fresh snow on old train cars
These photos were taken in Durango, Colorado. The mountains looked especially beautiful after this snowfall, one of the first of the season.
