It all started at 6:45am. I was supposed to take the 8:17am train in so I could meet Val - who had my ticket. Well, thanks to traffic, I missed the first train and ended up taking the next one, which was 8:59 or something like that. It was supposed to reach Hamilton by 9:19. Well, it didn't get there until 9:30. I got off and looked for her everywhere, but couldn't find her; so I figured she left already (probably thought I wasn't coming). I wasn't concerned, though, because I knew they were giving out tickets at the door.
So I took the train back (it was 20 minutes both ways) and my dad dropped me off (after a HUGE DISCUSSION, but I won't get into that).
By the time I got to the studios, it was around 1:00. I met up with some really cool people while I was online (including Val finally [I have to say a big hello to everyone who I met. Hope we can do this again soon!]) I found out that my friend Tina was coming (I didn't know she was coming - she said she couldn't, but I'm glad she came! I found out, later, that she ended up with the ticket that was supposed to be for me; but it didn't matter because I had already gotten a ticket from someone else beforehand! LOL!)
Anyway, her showing up, worked great for me, because later on after the show, I stayed at her place (which was WAY BETTER than taking the bus home alone).
I'm not sure when the guys came out of rehearsal, but I caught them leaving the studios (didn't catch them coming in). Their van stopped at a red light right in front of us, SIMON rolled down the window, did a little wave thing, and I got a picture in (I'm not sure how many I took, but I know I took at least one....LOL)! He didn't say anything, as we all know he doesn't speak before performing; but it didn't matter to me. He still looked HOT (wearing all black too....woo hoo)!
It seemed like forever before they were letting anyone in. Apparently, there wasn't a lot of people there to see BUCKCHERRY; so they put some of us in there - just to have an audience. Then, we had to leave and come back in again....Really stupid. I managed to get tenth row center, and later moved up to 8th. Personally, it didn't matter where I stood, as long as I was able to see SIMON (like I said in my Trenton review). Besides, I was first table for Atlantic City, fourth chair back in August; so I didn't mind where I was.
In any event, the show kicked ass as usual; and once again, SIMON noticed me several times throughout the show (and I caught a smile from him too). Let's see, you all probably know the set list by now. GIRLS ON FILM, NOTORIOUS, HALLUCINATING ELVIS (we all started waving during the "Elvis, Elvis" part), ALL SHE WANTS IS, FRIENDS OF MINE, SOMEONE ELSE NOT ME, ORDINARY WORLD, WHITE LINES, PLANET EARTH, THE REFLEX, and RIO.
SIMON was wearing black and white pants and a black shirt (and MAN, WHAT A PACKAGE ON HIM! Yes, I was looking and damn proud of it too! LOL!). NICK had on a pink and white shirt, a bright pink hat (which was similar to SIMON's and it matched his shirt), and silver pants with rhinestones all around. Very cool.
A couple of highlights which you may or may not see when it airs: SIMON'S little jokes and comments. He started making fun of the stage guy saying "there's a strange man onstage with us!" LOL! I loved the dog joke - that was hilarious! He said, "How do you stop a dog from humping your leg? Pick him up and suck his dick"....LOL! That's SIMON for you. :)
Some girl called out "It's bloody fuckin' hot", he said "you what?", and she repeated it. He was like "did you hear what she said? She bloody said fuckin' hot!" (HILARIOUS! I WAS ROLLING WHEN HE REPEATED IT!) A couple of other people made some comments and he just looked at them. I was expecting him to say something, it looked like he was; but he didn't. Hee, hee!
They had to start THE REFLEX over again right in the middle of SIMON's singing. It was so funny. It was something like "You've gone too far this time, but I'm dancing on the valentine. I-" SIMON was kneeling down (and was pointing I think or started to) like "uh, what happened?" (Apparently, WARREN had microphone problems). SIMON then said "I hate when that happens!"
We got a double dose of WHITE LINES - which means VH-1 better be airing the performance! Making them do it twice and everything (not that we had any problems with that)! I got the "spray" on my fingers the first time (I was surprised, but apparently he "spits" very far! Woo hoo!). The second time, I didn't get it; but that's okay. I'm happy I got it the first time!
Overall, MUCH BETTER SHOW THAN TRENTON. THIS SHOW MADE UP FOR IT BIG TIME! We got to see the band leave for their van after the show - they didn't do autographs, but I managed to get the back of SIMON's head (twice) going into the van and got one of NICK (whether or not they came out is another story).
It was an hour and a half, so which means some of the songs won't be aired - since HARD ROCK LIVE is only an hour. It was definitely worth the long wait outside. My back was killing me the next day from standing out there for so long, but oh well...Anything for Duran right? Hee, hee! I can't wait for the next tour! I am so ready!
