Hi, all, this is going to be a short review because, basically, it was a short set. I GOT ANOTHER CHANCE AT SEEING DURAN DURAN! WOO HOO! This was a festival show with a lot of "Teenie bands" (of which I never heard of - except for SUGAR RAY). The venue was pretty big, but not sold out (of course, if it were only DD - it would be a different story)!
Okay, so like from the time the show started until DD came on, I was so bored. I was with two other people, Valerie and Elizabeth (hi, guys, nice seeing you again!), of whom which I was with at the three shows I saw in August. We were all bored. We were seated in the back, about 17 rows away. Another girl and her friend showed up wearing the pink baby Tee from the tour; so we talked with her for awhile.
All right, the moment finally came when it was time for DD. By then, my head was spinning from all the screaming from the "kids" from 7:30 until about 10:00. Most people had already left, so we managed to get eighth row. (Hey, it didn't matter to me where I was. As long as I was able to see SIMON.)
I was so tired that night. It had been a long day for me. I came home from work, had to get everything together, and then drive off to Trenton (actually, my parents dropped me off). I was there, though, standing and dancing to at least five of the songs. I had to sit down for some, though, because I was a little dizzy; but I was still bouncing away and singing every song.
The audience showed no respect for the band whatsoever. There were people in front of me sleeping. I wasn't surprised by this, though, because the rest of the crowd was there for SUGAR RAY; and SIMON falling during "WHITE LINES" didn't help much either.
They played....GIRLS ON FILM, HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF, NOTORIOUS, HALLUCINATING ELVIS, COME UNDONE, FRIENDS OF MINE, SOMEONE ELSE NOT ME, PLANET EARTH, WHITE LINES, and RIO. No ORDINARY WORLD, though, which was a first for me. (First time I never heard them play that song - it's such a classic!) I was hoping they would do that song because I had a bad day and was exausted.
The band looked tired too - perhaps it was because of the lack of enthusiam from the crowd. From where I was, I only saw (besides the three of us), two other people in front of me standing and dancing, and about four over towards the center. Not a good sign.
Oh well, I still had a good time - despite all of that, and SIMON looked great as usual wearing all black. NICK had on a black shirt with a 70's orange swirl thing on it; and I think silver pants (I forgot). I'm not sure what WARREN was wearing.
So, this was concert number four for me. I heard the Boston show was better and if I were able to afford the flight in, I would of went! LOL! The tickets were free for God's sake. Oh well, at least I can say I was at Trenton and it was an experience. SIMON did say at the end "bless you all and I hope you enjoy the rest". I did stay for SUGAR RAY, though (I like that group), AND- WELL THAT WAS SOMETHING ELSE. Now, onto my last concert of 1999, HARD ROCK LIVE TAPING review!
