Today was a special day for me. Not only was it my birthday, but I was spending it with Rick Hearst and Bradford Anderson (and the next day was Greg Vaughan and Kelly Monaco)! I will never ever forget this weekend. What better way to spend a birthday than with your favorite GH stars?
It started at 5:45am this morning. My friend from school, who always goes to these events with me, came around 6:30am and we took the 7:05am bus into New York City. I heard a lot of great things about Rick and couldn't wait to meet him.
Rick walked up the little ramp to the stage, but almost tripped because it wasn't fastened correctly. He bent down to fix it and was like "if Bradford tripped on that, it wouldn't be good"....LOL! Bradford's event was scheduled for later on that evening. It's too bad they weren't allowing pictures to be taken during the Q&A because Rick had a nice view from behind....hee hee!
After that little mishap cleared, the first thing that Rick noticed when he was onstage was how many guys were in the audience. Besides himself, there were three guys (my friend was one of them....LOL)! Rick talked mainly about his family and how he is enjoying his vacation in the city. I found out that he's from Brooklyn, which is a coincidence because so am I. He told everyone how much he loves the city. Someone asked him about his contract and whether he was leaving the show. Rick's response was, "Was anybody in California?" Only about two people raised their hands. "Did I say I was leaving?" He asked and they all said "no". He said that he had three months left on his contract and he is definitely not leaving although no one has contacted him about anything; so if you see anything that says Rick Hearst is leaving the show, it's not true at this time....LOL!
There weren't too many questions from the audience, everyone preferred to hear Rick talk than ask questions. Either that, or everyone was still asleep and trying to wake up....LOL! I think Rick was trying to wake himself up to by asking Debby for some coffee. He did a Bradford and a Sonny Corinthos impression which was hilarious. He was great!
I heard he likes to talk a lot and this was definitely true....LOL! When it came for him to come around the tables to talk to us individually, there were times when Debby (the coordinator) had to tell him he had to move on to another table because he would just go on and on....LOL (this happened at our table)! He is a wonderful person to talk to. When he came to me, the first thing I told him was that it was my birthday and he was like "Happy birthday? 18?" he smiled. I told him, "oh thank you"....LOL! I asked him if he always wanted to be an actor and his answer to me was "sadly, yes". He, then, went to tell me how it all came about. I told him that I was more musical and he said to me that acting has a musical rhythm to it and I agreed with him. We had a good decent conversation. He asked me what my name was and when I told him, he was like "oh you gotta spell that for me sweetie". I get that a lot with my name so I'm used to it....Hee hee! Someone from the table mentioned his wife's catering business and then he went on to talk about that. He was demonstrating something and I can't remember what right now, but he wanted me to hold out my hand and when I did, he held it. That was really nice. :)
Rick Hearst is such a nice guy. It was definitely true everything that I heard about him. Definitely different from his character, which is a very good thing. I am glad he took some time from his vacation to hang out with his fans. Thank you, Rick, for making my birthday special. :)
