So, I’m reading new articles off of the three biggest news sites on the web now (CNN.com,FoxNews.com,and WashingtonTimes.com) and came across an interesting article that gave me the chance to complain about the whole system in America. Or, rather, the people in that system.
It seems that Al Gore is flexing his muscle towards his political ideals yet again, though this time he’s trying to deny that it is a political move. ‘"This will not be a political network," Gore said in a statement.’
Do politicians really think we are that dumb? First, the Chairman of the Board will be Al Gore. AL GORE. Nope, he’s never done anything political in his life. Second, the other co-owner of the group, Joel Hyatt, was at one time finance chairman for the Democratic National Committee. Lastly, it’s a NEWS AGENCY. When the hell was the last time a news agency not more of a political tool than anything else?
Politicians do this all the time. They claim that they aren’t doing this “for political reasons.” Hello? Everything you do is for political reasons! Sure, they may be other motives BESIDES politics, but politics is always the main motivator.
It wouldn’t be so bad if they just didn’t try to take everyone for fools and think we’re all dumbasses. It’s like they live in a reality world where people believe all the lying bullshit. It’s like the whole thing with Bush. He lied about the Taliban/Al Quida (even though there where small training facilities for OTHER terrorist groups) connection and with all the build up before the war, Hussein managed to sell, smuggle or bury all the warheads for chemical weapons… or what was left. Most of it would have been trash by now anyway from corrosion and degradation. BUT THAT’S FOR ANOTHER RANT and isn’t my point.
People would have been fine with reasons like “this guy is being a menace to his people” and “if we fight over there, the terrorists will be drawn over there.” I think the military is more adept at dealing with these terrorists than our police forces over here.
But, telling the truth would probably be more damaging to everything than people think. Can you imagine a world were people told the truth? Murder would go up wars would fire up and engulf the world. Everyone would be miserable and 60 Minutes wouldn’t have any good “investigative” reporting.
And probably, things will stay like this. Corruption and pandering toward certain groups (I’m talking special interest groups, not racial groups) have been around for longer than we probably can tell. I’m sure Hamurabi took bribes and King Arthur had a girl on the side. It’s just how people are. And there isn’t a reader reading this that can tell me that they wouldn’t use the power to make their life easier, either.
Not that I’m saying communism is any better, I’d rather have stuff and let my politicians get blowjobs and oil bribes on the side than be miserable with 99% of the population and working in steel mills.
