EKG Diagnostic Criteria

Atrial Fibrillation

  • No P waves
  • No flutter waves
  • Atrial activity is either absent or is chaotic both in amplitude and in rate
  • The QRS complexes have the form which is usual for the subject and lead (ie if they had RBBB before they still have it)
  • The R-R interval is variable. During a given period of observation a maximum and a minimum R-R interval will be observed and with in these extremes the R-R interval will be unpredictable
