What every Catholic should know:
In order for one to remain in sanctifying grace one must:
1. Attend mass every Sunday along with Holy Day's of obligation
2. Make an annual confession whether one in in mortal sin or
not.
3. began ones day with prayer and end your day with pray
4. must have sacrament of Baptism, Confirmation, Holy
Eucharist, Confession (Penance), if married one must have the sacrament of
Marriage - married under the Catholic Church, Holy Orders (if one wishes to be
a priest or deacon) and anointing of the sick- this sacrament is used if one
is very sick, and or should be used if one plans on going into surgery.
5.If not able to attend mass Monday thru Saturday, it is good
that one make a spiritual communion.
Spiritual Communion Prayer:
Sanctifying Grace means: God is abiding in our soul. It is
called by Council of Trent:" It is called our justice because by its
inherence in us we are justified" Sanctifying grace increases through
reception of the sacraments which then in turn help us to discern God's will
over our own, and good increases and over powers the weakness of our human
will.
Lose of Sanctifying grace: when one in in moral sin.

Mortal sin breaking the commandments:
1. I am the Lord thy God; thou shalt not have strange gods
before Me.
Did I go to non-Catholic services?
Was I willfully distracted during prayers?
Did I bother others during prayers?
Was I ashamed that I am a Catholic?
2. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain
Did I use God's or Jesus' Holy Name in
anger or fun?
Did I curse (wish someone evil)?
Did I anger others so as to make them
curse?
Did I make fun of holy things?
3. Remember that thou keep holy the Lord's Day.
Did I miss Holy Mass on Sunday or on
holydays through my own fault?
Did I come late to Holy Mass through my own
fault?
Did I whisper, laugh, talk or tease others?
Did I work on Sundays or holydays?
4.Honor thy father and thy mother.
Did I forget to pray for my parents?
Did I disobey my parents?
Did I disobey my teachers and priests?
Did I make fun of old people?
Was I mean to my parents?
Was I mean to my teachers and priests?
Did I wish my parents, teacher and priests
evil?
5. Thou shalt not kill.
Did I think myself better than others? (PRIDE)
Did I fight and quarrel with boys and girls?
Did I make other boys and girls fight?
Did I slap my little brother or sisters?
Was I mean to other boys and girls?
Did I call them bad names?
Was I angry?
Was I stubborn?
Was I lazy?
Did I eat or drink too much, or in any other way
hurt my body?
Did I hate others?
Did I try to get even with others?
Did I lead other boys or girls into sin by my bad
example?
Was I mean or cruel to animals?
6. Thou shalt not commit adultery & 9th Thou shalt not
covet thy neighbors wife.
Did I have bad thought and like them?
Did I tell bad stories?
Did I listen to bad talk?
Did I willfully touch myself in a way that was not
pure?
Did I touch others on purpose in a way that was
not pure?
Did I really want to look at or do things that
were not pure?
Did I go to bad places that led me to sin?
Did I take pleasure in indecent dress?
Did I go with bad boys or girls?
Did I look at or draw bad pictures?
Did I read bad stories?
7th Thou shalt not steal. 10th Thou shalt not covet thy
neighbor's goods.
Did I steal anything? How much? Where from?
Did I help others to steal?
Did I tell others to steal?
Did I take or keep stolen things given to me by
others?
Did I hurt or spoil another's property? (Books,
clothes, furniture)
Did I damage chruch or school property?
Did I cheat in class or at home?
. Did I keep valuable things when found?
Did I envy others?
Was I jealous because others did better than I in
class, had better homes, clothing were better looking?
8th. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy
neighbor.
Did I tell lies?
Did these lies hurt others? (Calumny)
Did I talk about the sins of others without necessity?
(Distraction)
Did I say mean things about others in their absence?
(Backbiting)
Commandments of the Church
Did I eat meat on Friday? or on other forbidden days?
Did I ever make a bad confession [intentionally] by keeping
back a mortal sin?
Did I ever make a bad confession by not being sorry for my sins
when I went to confession?
Did I ever hurry to confession before I prayed long enough and
thought of my sins?
Did I ever go to confession and not do or say my penance afterwards?
Did I receive Holy Communion without fasting? [one hour of
fasting before mass]
Did I fail to receive the Holy Sacrament of Penance once a
year?
Did I fail to receive Holy Communion at Easter time?

We are human it is true, but it does not mean we should not
strive for perfection. With the sacraments as our aid and with vigilance
at our side we will over come, for God is our Salvation, what is impossible
for us is possible for God. We are called to a holy people, to be joined with
our brothers and sisters in heaven. Let us take courage and always call upon
the saints and our Holy Mother Mary for there continued assistance in
attaining sanctifying grace so that we may be children of God and his saints
upon earth.
"And after he (Abraham) began to be ninety and nine years
old, the Lord appeared to him: and said unto him: I am the Almighty God: walk
before me, and be perfect.- Gen. xvii verse 1
"Thou shalt be perfect, and without spot before the Lord
thy God.- Deut. xvii, 13.
"Let our hearts also be perfect with the Lord our God,
that we may walk in his statutes, and keep his commandments, as at this day.-
Kins viii. 61.
"Be you therefore perfect, as also your heavenly Father is
perfect._Matt V v.48
"For the rest, brethren, rejoice, be perfect, take
exhortation, be of one kind, have peace; and the God of peace and love shall
be with you.-2Cor.xiii. 11
