'What about dem eatid under the table?' I taid.

'What, dem bacon roind?' 'e taid. 'Gibba me tumpick to eatid! Gibba me, GIBBA ME, GIBBA ME TUMPICK TO EATID, ANTIE!'



  • Antie was Liena herself. Unc (who also figures in the stories) was her second husband, Dr John Baker.

  • Liena came from Gus-Khrustalny in Russia. This is a photograph of her as a child in Gus, taken before the First World War.
