illustrator: Sharon Hartman Blue Dolphin Publishing 1999 ISBN 1-57733-017-X (book) ISBN 0-931892-79-1 (deck) The Dolphin Divination Cards are a set of 102 small, round cards that can be used for guidance, inspiration and counsel. The wisdom offered here is very gentle, yet very profound. Although the book does not directly address the issue, Dolphins are understood by many to contain the genetic coding for mankind. They act as keepers for the knowledge that mankind is not quite ready for, but that will eventually need. Dolphins clearly serve a purpose beyond being beautiful creatures of the sea. When you watch how they interact with each other and with humankind, you will see how Dolphins reflect the love, generosity and teachings of the Universal One - by whatever name you choose to call it. The unconditional love and wisdom gifted through our many spiritual Masters resides within the Dolphin soul. The pod society/lifestyle of the Dolphin acts as a visual model of universal spirituality - the honoring of all life as being sacred. Dolphins themselves can induce a higher vibrational frequency into the human experience - which helps us to access our full potential for love, healing and creativity. They teach us how to create stronger connections for communication, sharing and loving. Through learning to network, we as humans are empowered to help return balance to Mother Earth. There are many ways to place these cards in our lives - through drawing a card a day as inspiration, to draw a card at any time for the type of energy available to us for use in any situation, for answers to specific questions or simply for spiritual guidance. Several different card spreads are presented for the reader to use. I would use them as guidelines - in other words, work with the spreads given until you feel comfortable enough to create your own spread. The spreads given are defined as: body/mind/soul (three cards laid in a straight horizontal line), past/present/future (again - three cards laid out in a horizontal line) and one five card spread. The first card is placed in the center, and is defined as the issue or energy we are reading for. Card number two is placed under card number one, and is defined as the past. Card number three is placed to the left of card number one, and is defined as the present. Card number four is placed above card number one, and is defined as the future. Card number five is placed to the left of card number one, and is defined as the outcome. As with any spread, open your mind to all of the possibilities in front of you. We all have free will, and any decisions that we make or actions that we take will have an effect on our present and our future. For each card the book lists a short reading with abbreviated meanings, which is followed by teachings, stories and anecdotes that make the card come to life. I chose to ask three questions, concerning different areas of my life. This is the wisdom that the Dolphin Cards brought to me:
"What do I need to know for today?" 8/04/01
I drew Gridwork of Light. This is what the book had to say:
"A web of energy t hat holds the world in place. A more subtle form of grounding and holding than gravity. Ley lines that connect power places and sacred sites. Energy lines upon which we shift dimension, somewhat like changing altitudes in an airplane. The sacred lines and links that connect all things. Perceiving energy fields that can open as portals into non-ordinary reality. Other realms and dimensions. Moving to greater states of energy and light. Extending our cosmic antennae. Having greater talent and genius available to us. Expanded consciousness to work with Earth healing: with ley lines, power centers, prayer and ceremony."
Those who do earth healing work activate ley (power) lines of the earth and power spots or sacred sites ... with prayers and ceremonies. The gridwork relates to harmonic levels or octaves that resonate with other worlds, dimensions and universes. Work through dream time and meditation. Expansion of personal gridwork.
This made perfect sense to me - as healing work in many forms makes up a large part of my life. :)
My next question was concerning relationship. I drew Heart to Heart. Even without reading the book - that sounded good to me! :) This is what the book had to say:
"When you're heart to heart, it's like a ripple that spreads through your whole body. You're either experiencing a deep, fulfilling bonding of heart energy with another being, or are about to. It can also signify finding your spiritual *energetic match* or soul mate ... or having a merging of great, loving bliss. An open heart merging with another open heart. Ascending into a realm where love creates the harmonics and magic of life. Hearts in harmony. Having a heart to heart talk with another person, sharing our life storied and confidences in a completely open and trusting way. A "heartship" is transcendent, raising friendship up to a higher octave of the hearts harmonics."
Closed hearts are not able to experience the joy of love. Keep the heart open to allow healing communications.
This appears to reflect where the relationship that I was asking about is at this time. This card gave me a real sense of peace and stability.
My last question was an open one regarding work. I drew Protection. The book gave this interpretation:
"Having protection from our Guardians or Angels, or a lineage of spiritual teachers. Being guarded against accident, injury disease and all kinds of misfortune. Feeling safe and secure. Giving protection to others - upholding them in a positive energy field with positive thoughts, words or actions. Praying for protection for others and oneself. A close call with danger and appreciating the level of blessings and protection that prevented misfortune. If we have a misfortune, it may come as a "small thing", as our "protection" keeps it from being a large and serious thing. Giving protection to our children and elders who are unable to fend for themselves. Giving comfort, shelter and food to others to protect them from sickness, hunger, harsh weather or violence. Making sure that we honor our protection so that we don't take risky chances and jeopardize our very precious human life."
This can mean being in a state of protection or needing to make sure that we are protected from all *negativity*.
This card made perfect sense to me - my work is how I create protection for the stability of my present and future.
I found the cards to be very beautiful, and the book well written and concise. I feel that it has it's place among modern day oracles.
