Ok, it's February. Should we talk about how to set up ceremony for that wonderful person in your life? Dinner? Candles? Flowers? Scented bath for two? A night out on the town? Everyone else will tell you how to do that. I want to talk about that other person in your life - the one that you don't think about all that often. I want you to create a personal ceremony for yourself. Keep Valentine's Day for the spouse or significant other - take the time to create one day for yourself!
In this month that is devoted to love (St. Valentine was a real person - just thought I would add that in!), the primary efforts should be given to honoring the love we we have for ourselves. Not love that comes from ego, but love that comes from acceptance of who we are and what we stand for.
Allow this celebration be one that connects you with your roots - with who you are. Allow this celebration to be one of total nuturing and support. Take a moment to sit down and make a list of things that are important to you, things that give you joy. What have you not had the time to do? What have you held back on because of a lack of funds? What is at the top of your personal wish list?
Your personal ceremony may be as simple as allowing yourself to spend the money for a special coffee or tea, to be enjoyed as you watch a sunrise (or a sunset), or perhaps while sitting in a room filled with lit candles wafting wonderful scents. It may be simply allowing yourself to purchase those wonderful scented candles - and then taking the time to enjoy them.
Perhaps your hearts greatest joy would be a new book, or a trip to the movies or the theater. Perhaps a long soak in the bathtub, with a candle and lovely scented bath oils is your idea of joy. Perhaps it is that special meal that you never fix - at least not just for yourself.
Whatever comes to mind, find a way to do it. It doesn't have to be expensive - it just has to give your heart joy. :)
A thought just came into my mind. Perhaps the celebration of Valentine's Day should be threefold - personal time for you, personal time for that special person, and special time spent together.
Sending healing thoughts to all of you on this Valentine's Day. Thank you for visiting my Creation of Ceremony pages. May your day be Blessed.
