author: Maria Yracébūrū
Maria Yracébūrū is a storyteller, healer, ceremonial facilitator, teacher and guardian of ancient Snake Clan knowledge for the Quero Apache. Her lineage is from her Grandfather, Apache holy man Ten Bears, and as a descendent of the Apache prophet Nochaydelklinne. As with all things such as this, there was a question in her mind, and in her heart, about whether information concerning tribal ways should be shared outside of the tribe. In the end, the answer was that we are really all one tribe, that the times we are going through are changing times, and that by adapting the ritual work that is the back bone of this book, the reader would be enabled to walk a more grounded, centered path. Prayers And Meditations Of The Quero Apache is based on a spiritual practice called "entering the silence". Combining breathwork, meditation and prayer, this practice (performed daily) acts as a personal connection to the world of Spirit - to All Of Our Relations. This book is all about reclaiming ourselves and walking the Path of Beauty. The thoughts in this book reflect the traditions of the Quero Apache, the "energy weavers" who placed great importance on the quieting of the mind to create a space for communicating with All Of Our Relations (literally - all of life). By working with the cycles of this practice, we can all place the tools of understanding, acceptance and forgiveness of self and others in our lives. This work "is" Grandfather Ten Bears - it is a book of experiences that came through this wonderful healer and teacher to his Granddaughter, from which we can all benefit. The book discusses the Tlish Diyan philosophy, which is:
1. understand the principles of nature The Quero Great Wheel of Life can be used in three ways: (1) addressing the directional energies for guidance; (2) traveling the individual spirals to connect to community; and (3) walking the individual stones on the spiral to help us develop and grow and transform. Entering the silence is the first step in this process. Yracébūrū does a very commendable job of explaining the background for this daily ritual, and the physical steps (body positions and breathing) needed to perform it properly. This personal ceremony can easily be performed by anyone, of any faith or any background. There is a personal commitment to devoting 30 minutes each morning to the ceremony - which is basically emptying of the mind, followed by prayer. There are four spirals discussed in this book. The first spiral is that of Following The Ancestors Tracks. There are Prayer Wheels for each of the following:
1. Heron's Way Of Healing The second spiral is that of Living In The Way Of The Ancestors. In it are the following Prayer Wheels:
1. Flicker Dancing In The Light The third spiral is that of Sharing Ancestral Wisdom. In it are the following Prayer Wheels:
1. Crow's Original Memory The fourth spiral is Speaking With The Ancestor's Voice. In it the author discusses the task at hand for each of us in this lifetime. She speaks of the fourth spiral as one of service, and connectedness with All Of Our Relations. From here, we will go to the Fifth World of Peace. In the afterword, Brooke Medicine Eagle speaks of finding the Path with the Heart, and understanding the way of the heart and the way of Love. She speaks of us as the Rainbow People, and about the need for intent and focus in our lives. I found this to be a deeply moving book. It taught me something of the Quero Apache world and of their beliefs. and gifted me with tools of wisdom to use in my own life. It can do the same for you.
