Psychology of the Chakras
Lotus Press 2004 ISBN #0-940985-76-4 Eye of the Lotus is filled with esoteric knowledge of the psychology behind the chakras, combined neatly with a working system for putting the wisdom to use in everyday life. It is a living version of East meets West, where the best of both worlds combine into the best of all worlds. Dr. Jelusich begins with a working definition for the chakra system. He notes that this book is not a destination, but a starting place for understanding and working with the chakra system. He asks that it be used to promote personal growth, and that the reader avoid forcing themselves into the working definition of one or another chakra. The purpose of this book is to learn to recognize our dominant chakra, because this is where the issues for this physical lifetime are played out. This is the lens through which our souls primary mission is seen. What I found of interest here is that there is no linear progression within the chakra system: we may be fourth chakra dominant in one lifetime, and second chakra dominant int he next. A person with fourth chakra dominance is not further advanced than, say, a person with a second chakra dominance. It may also be noted that the first and seventh chakras do not function as dominant chakras. Within this system, Dr. Jelusich defines both chakras one and seven as gateways, or entry points of consciousness into physical form. The first (Root) chakra serves us here in the physical world, it helps us to survive. The seventh (Crown) chakra represents the point of the Divine - that point where everything and nothing exist. The five chakras that serve as dominant chakras as defined as follows:
Chakra #2 - Sacral Chakra - Survivalist For each chakra, Dr. Jelusich has defined what he terms an "ultimate fear", which becomes our ultimate challenge in life. This is the hardest thing that we will ever have to do in any specific lifetime. They are broken down as follows:
Chakra #1 - I don't physically exist. To accept your corporeal existence. There is a chapter on each chakra, defining and explaining the higher and lower aspects, and how they function in our lives. Dr. Julasich also develops what he terms the relationship dynamics for each chakra - Reciprocity-focus and Decisions/Committment in a relationship. He also goes into issue such as what each chakra type needs as an individual, healing issues, and evolving the Soul-Group consciousness. There are some interesting statements at the end of the book, such as the listing of three reasons that an individual does not heal immediately from their afflictions. I am including this here because I feel that this is something that all healers should be aware of:
1. Karma Also listed are three ways to overcome the influence of karma: prayer, meditation, and healing. Prayer is an invocation, speaking to Divine Source and asking for specific relief. Meditation is being still and listening for the answer. Healing refers to spiritual healing work done by a qualified practitioner. In the appendices are: recommended reading for each of the chakras; exercises and meditations to strengthen each chakra; essential oils, sounds, light and color that help heal each chakra; yoga exercises for each chakra; a bibliography and reference section; listings for Dr. Jelusich's books, workshops, and readings; as well as a section of testimonials. I found the book to be well written, easy to understand, and easy to follow. One section built easily from the section before it. Through the use of this material, the reader will be able to define their dominant chakra, recognize their strengths and weaknesses, and use specific tools, such as exercise and meditation, to strengthen their chakra system. Also defined is the mission for each lifetime. This is a book to be experienced, not a book to be read and then set aside. The wisdom in this book is a tool that will help not only the reader, by other people in the readers life.
