Directions from WH to IP

These directions are the most DIRECT. Turns have been minimized only to the unavoidable. For simplicities sake, directions start from the High School.

1. Head South on Nassau Boulevard, towards Hempstead Avenue and McDonalds. Stay on Hempstead Avenue. Go past Cornwell Elementary School, and over the Southern State Parkway. After the parkway, you will approach a fork in the road.
2. Head left, this will put you on Ocean Avenue. Stay on Ocean Avenue. Go past Malverne MS and Malverne HS. Pass the abandoned summer camp and Peninsula Boulevard. After peninsula Boulevard, there will be a cemetary on the Right.
3. At the cemetery, make a left. This will put you on Merrick Road. You will pass BENEATH two bridges. Inbetween the two is a Fitness Club. You will come to a MAJOR intersection. Bear right onto Lincoln Avenue.
4. Stay on Lincoln Avenue. It is a residential street with a church. At the end of Lincoln Avenue is Long Beach Road. On the right will be a Hess Gast Station. Bare right onto Long Beach Road.
5. Long Beach Road is long. You will pass these buildings, all of which are on the left. Edwards, Walgreens, 1-800-Flowers, Blockbuster Video, Nathans, TJ Maxx, Biggest Banana, A Vitamin Store, The Sands Shopping Center (Edwards) and a garbage dump. Past the garbage dump is Peters Clam Bar (Sorry, closed for the season). There is a fork in the road. Bare right, this will keep you on Long Beach Road.
6. You will pass (on the left) an abandoned FoodTown, a karate place, and an apartment building called "Abbey Manor". Past Abbey Manor are railroad tracks. Go over the tracks, this will take you into The Village of Island Park.
7. Head down Long Beach Road. On the right you'll pass the Island Park Fire Department. Past the Fire Department, you'll approach another fork in the road. Bare left, this will keep you on Long Beach Road.
8. This stretch of Long Beach Road is Downtown Island Park. On the left you'll pass by Island Park's Post Office, Conrads Pharmacy, Sacred Heart Church, a gas station, and a bank. The second intersection Warwick Road. On the left it the bank, across the intersection on the left is Village Hall and the train station. Make a right.
9. On Warwick road, when you come to the second intersection you will see a condemned building on the left, and the Francis X. Hegarty Elementary School. Make a left onto Radcliffe Road. Past the condemned building is the parking lot for the library.

The approximate round trip is 16 miles, and 35-40 minutes.
