UPDATES:
- Thursday, May 18th there is a LISCW Divisional at WHHS starting 7 p.m. West Hempstead Club members must attend!
- Sunday May 21 is the RTC (Regional Training Conference). ALL KEY CLUBBERS and those interested in Key Club should attend. Officers MUST attend. The RTC is at East Meadow High SChool. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the program will start at 9 o'clock. Bring $5 for registration. It will be donated to charity. This is a very big, important event. It will also be a lot of fun! The icebreaker will be Singled Out. LISCW, LISCE, LISW, Long Island North, Suffolk East, Suffolk West, and Queens Divisions will be attending. Also present will be the NY District Governor Stephanie, District Secretary Jane, District Editor Cassi, International Trustee and Unanimously Endorsed Candidate for International President Rich, and Immediate Past LIN Lt. Governor and Endorsed Candidate for International Trustee Anthony.
- June 3 is the Nassau County Medical Center's Teddy Bear Day.
- June 4 is the next Key Club + Kamper = Friendship get together. It will be at the Strawberry Festival in Bellmore.
- We would like to plan a car wash, but we need your help! Let us know if you are interested.
- We are planning our very first Stay-Awake-A-Thon. If you are interested in helping out or have some ideas for it, come to the next Key Club meeting and let everyone know. You can also email us.
- Who doesn't love our teachers? We all do and that's why we'll be hosting a Teacher Appreciation Breakfast for the WHHS teachers.
- As usual, the Key Club will be marching in the Memorial Day Parade. Save the date to march with the club if you are not already committed to march with another group (such as the WHHS Marching Band).
- Every year another class graduates and seniors say goodbye to WHHS. Let them know how much you'll miss them and how much fun you had with them with our Kiss A Senior Goodbye fundraiser. Help us make them and sell them.
- West Hempstead and Island Park have New club officers! For a detailed description of the duties of each of the officers, check out KCI's onlince source here.
- Thank you to the dedicated members who volunteered at the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast. Your help was truly appreciated.
- At the divisional meeting on January 31 at Hempstead High School the next LISCW Lieutenant Governor, Amy, was elected! Yay! Thank you to everyone who came for moral support.
- The Corey Rovin Volleyball Game was February 11. We made about $500 for the Corey Rovin Memorial Scholarship Fund.
- To help build up our treasury, we will be having bakesales every Thursday 8th and 9th period and after school starting the week after midterms. Please help by baking and selling.
- West Hempstead Book Buddies (Read & Lead) sadly, is now over. However, it was a huge succes, and chances are it will be happening again next year on a more permanent basis.
- Read & Lead in Island Park is still every Thursday.
- Officer elections for WH and IP will be held February 16. If you are interested in running and would like to know more about any of the positions (President, Vice President, Secretary, or Treasuere) ask any of the current officers or just write to us at whkc@angelfire.com.
- If you are going to Convention, make sure you attend the updoming meetings. We will be discussing District Convention information.
- We delivered more food to the Abilities Center in Albertson. Thank you to everyone who contributed.
- Thank you to everyone who brought back IDD boxes. We made about $60.
- The Candy Corn Guess was won by our very own Ms. West Hempstead, Dominique. She received a $20 gift certificate to Roosevelt Field.
- We made our annual donation to Toys for Tots again this year. :)
- Thank you to everyone who brought in clothes for the clothing drive.
- Come to Read And Lead in Island Park! Need directions? Simply click here. Or, if you prefer, you can also click here. If you need a ride to the Island Park Library, meet outside the High School at 15:00 (3:00 PM).
- Are you artistic? Would you like to get points towards DKC? Well then why don't you submit a design for this year's DKC pin? Just bring in your drawing to a meeting and we'll make sure it gets to the LTGs in charge of the DKC award.
Congratulations to:
Gopi Unnithan for being selected the West Hempstead Rotary Clubs coveted "Student of the Month." It was a well deserved honor and one of many he will receive as he continues on in his chosen field of education. Also congratulations on becoming a Siemens Westinghouse Semifinalist!
WHIP Key Club Thanks...
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the following people for their support and continuing committment.
- Everyone who came to the LISCW Divisional on January 31 to cheer on Amy!
- Thank you Mr. Smith for taking pictures for us!
- WH Kiwanis for going to the Tri-K Divisional in Levittown with the Key Club Monday, November 15. We had a great time.
- Thank you Rich and Amy for being the loyal school cleaner-uppers Saturday for Service of Champions Day. Rich is Key Clubber of November!
- Thank you to everyone who helped make all those goody bags and delivered them to the elementary schools. The kids loved it! Also thank you to our Kiwanis Advisor, Mr. Smith for coming and taking pictures.
- Thanks to everyone who worked the concession stand last Saturday. We made a nice profit!
- Thank you Britt and Alex for bringing in such heavy IDD boxes!
- Those who helped at the Pasta Dinner.
- Emily Caufield for the banner used at Homecoming
- Those who donated items and volunteered their time at the garage sale. We made about $200.
