W o m a n

Like the rose, women are delicate and intricate creatures of the human race. We are strong and adaptable to many situations and people. We have become what we are through our experiences in life and those woman before us.

On this page, I wish to share with you some *delicate but very real issues* in this world today that have been a help to me and hope they will be a comfort to another.

The Purple Ribbon is a symbol used in a campaign that began in Nova Scotia in 1990 to commerate the 14 woman who were murdered in Montreal on December 6, 1989. The ribbon symbolizes the tragedy and is an on-going campaign to stop violence against women. The Purple Ribbon Campaign has become an annual event running from November 25 - December 6.
The campaign is also in support of the following:
  • (a} Remember all women who have died violently or continue to live with abuse.
  • {b} Raise awareness of the pervasiveness of violence against women.
  • {c} Raise funds to continue work against violence against women.

  • Proceeds of these funds are donated to:
  • The Third Place Transition House, Truro, Nova Scotia - 893-3232;
  • Colchester Sexual Assault Centre - 897-4366;
  • The Mi'kmaq Family Treatment Centre - 893-8483.

  • Being a survivor of domestic abuse and violence, I support all victims and have below several links to help other woman in these circumstances.

    The greatest support we need comes from within ourselves, as we have to remember *Woman* are people too !
