Daini Now Known as Daini the Black

Greetings from Mirumoto Ieyasu

Brothers,

Forgive me for taking so long sending you the deck list and recap of my duel against the defender of Fredo. My magistrate duties up here in the northern provinces have kept me very busy.

You will notice one card in the dynasty deck which does not seem to belong: Bayushi Shoju. He was included to honor the alliance I forged with the Scorpion last year at OrcCon and I wanted Ree to see how seriously I took that responsibility. Even though this was a very important game, I wanted to show our clan honoring the commitment. Ree was not able to attend but another AEG person watched half the game and went through both dynasty decks so he could give Ree details. Sean had even more ninja cards than he normally does.

OK, here is a recap of how the game went. Sean went first getting only a small farm in play and sweeping the rest, including a Mitsu and Ninja Shapeshifter! At that point I pleaded with him to break from the darkness and return to us. Every turn I encouraged him to reject the darkness that was consuming him and return to the light, but alas it was to late for him as he had completely embraced the Shadow. So now we finally know why a Dragon would stand in defense of the dog Fredo, he was really a minion of the Shadow trying to bring our clan down. Anyway I got a Shrine first turn but struggled with gold. I reached 22 honor and had five provinces while Sean had to lose a province to the Hidden Emperor, it cost him a Mitsu! That's when I hit a clump of gold and he started to increase the pressure. He had brought out Toturi the First and Egged him, along with bringing out the exp. Matsu Hororu that can bow to kill a Kolat with less Chi. You can see where this is going. He bowed Toturi making one of my guys Kolat for the turn but he couldn't kill him because I had a Fortress of the Dragonfly in play giving all my guys +1 Chi, so all he ended up being able to kill all game was two Togashi Yoshi's. Bujun-sama worked on my behalf all day, several times he spoke to the Emperor on my behalf, gaining me his Favor. He also Blocked the attackers Supply Lines during a battle as well. Sean played One Life, One Action two turns in a row, one on Entrapping Terrain and another on Block Supply Lines. I had another copy of each in my hand. By this time I was at 32 honor and had three provinces left, he had a massive amount of force and had the Sword in play. This was the pivotal point of the game. I Iaijutsu Challenged a basic Fredo with Hitomi Reju. He had killed my Yoshi's already, and I was at six chi after he used his ability. At first he called strike then changed his mind and used one Yoshi going to six as well, then called strike and typical of his style he used a Poisoned Weapon. Yes, that's right, Daini used a Poisoned Weapon in his only duel of the game!

The fortunes smiled on me though as the Wind's Truth knew who the honorable one really was and I received the honor due to me, putting me at 37 with two Shrines in play, letting me finish my turn at 41 Honor. On his turn, he used Isawa Norikizu telling me to discard any Refugees, I had none. So now I could only use the Favor to send him home and he had a boatload of force. He took a long time to assign and all I had to defend with was one Kitsuki Yasu, one Hitomi Nakuso and the man, Mirumoto Bujun. The attacking armies had 18 force at one, 17 at the second and 22 at the third. I defended province one against the 18 force. First he decided to resolve province two using a Superior Tactics to move the Egged Toturi into the battle I was defending, then changed his mind. I allowed him to take it back (there is a story about taking back actions that Bujun already knows most of that I will go into more later). Anyway, then he decides to resolve province three instead, using the Sup Tac on the Toturi in that battle, moving him into the battle I'm at. I then attempt to use the Favor on a basic Fredo that has the Sword attached and.... (Dramatic Pause) he goes home leaving him unable to take the province and making me the winner.

Well that's an overview of how the game went. I regret I don't have the writing skill of Josh to better describe the game, but I can share more details when next we meet or do my best to answer questions. Without further ado here is the deck.
