This page contains references to help learn more about the culture,
history and terminology in the Legends of the Five Rings (L5R)

revised November 21, 2007

A Beginner's Guide to the Celestial Order - by Hitomi Josh Timmers (retired) with Unicorn
commentary by Shinjo Molly. Explains the rights and responsibilities of each class along
with the social order in Rokugan. Hitomi Josh has long since retired from L5R.

A Guide to Tattoos - by Hitomi Karasusan. Evaluation of the Tattoo Action cards found in
the Hidden Emperor and Dark Journey Home expansions. Originally found at
"The Mountain Keep of the Dragon", this is an archive of Karasusan's work.

Check Lists for Legends of the Five Rings Card Game. Starts from the Honor Bound set.
It's pretty much obsolete but I'll keep it on my site until I run out of space on Angelfire.

Dragon Clan Letters -  current up to Imperial Herald volume2, #7   Clan letters were used
in the past to impart flavor and information to Legends of the Five Rings players. They
were mailed out with the Imperial Herald magazine. More recently, they were posted on
Alderac Entertainment Groups web site but the practice seems to have been discontinued.

Gaijin's Guide to Rokugan  -  "The ancient history and origins of the Emerald Empire".
The best resource for finding older quotes and flavor text on cards. No recent updates
since the Clan war foil card text.

Legend of the Five Rings: Introduction for Newbies - version 4.2, December 2004 (Zen Faulkes)

Stories of Rokugan -  Stories about important events in Dragon Clan history. Probably no
more updates in the future, just read the stories at Alderac's site in the "Fiction" section.

Superior Tactics -  analysis of individual cards. Updated to the Dark Allies expansion.

The Collector's Guide to Legends of the Five Rings - scans of the early colored card borders
to help people identify the expansion set.

The Heart of the Crane - by Kakita Kaori. Advice for writers of Crane stories.

The History of Rokugan -  archival copy of Miya Richard Weld's "Miya Archives", now
hosted on Alderac Entertainment Group's computer servers. Richard retired from L5R
due to real life commitments but his work can still be referenced here (most of it anyway).
Excellently organized, the site is arrainged in chronological order from the Imperial Edition
basic set up to the "Heaven and Earth" expansion. No fan stories, just the "real thing".

The Shadowlands Refuge of the Lion Clan - by Ikoma Andy. April Fool's parody (1999).

Clan Wars Sites (miniatures gaming in the Emerald Empire)

Clanwar.com  -  the official Clan Wars site. Updated February 24, 2005.

Kyuden Hida  -  by Kuni Tetsu. Only has the old front page. It's now just a redirect to Clanwar.com.
